I see this a lot here. And I'm not picking on VD, but it seems the "popular" thing here to pick on the WBO. So I thought I'd do a little comparison and see how the alphabet organizations stack up. Couldn't do every weight division, so I picked some of the ones with the better known fighters, and came up with the following:

They are all garbage. But if I had to pick the worst offender, it would have to be the WBA, with their absurd "regular" champions.

Although the WBO is almost as bad; they created the WBO interim Junior Middleweight title for Paul Williams in the same month Sergei Dzindziruk was defending the WBO Junior Middleweight title against the WBO's own mandatory. WTF?

They are probably all just as corrupt as eachother.

I always say the Champ makes the belt these days, dont really matter wich one you got, you know if you deserve to be called a world champ or not,and so do we the boxing fans.

But I'd agree with the WBA being worst of all. it's so obvious the other titles(regular,super champ) are for more money but they just don't seem to care how bad they look.

Yeah I agree with Lance. Hell I forget that their is a WBA until he brings up another thread on them or I see them announcing the champion in some fight.

I always thought the IBF standings and rules (the 10% shrink rule) was pretty sound.

also kotelnik has a belt because frank warren somehow got a belt on gavin rees and was trying to find anyone he thought had the slightest chance of losing to rees

I also like the IBF. Its probably the least corrupt. WBA is garbage now, which is sad because it used to be prestigious.

IBF is quick to strip anyone of their title so that they can constantly have someone fighting for their strap, and making them a couple bucks every time

They've fed him the IBF strap as many times as possible.

The worst one being after he lost to Baldomir they gave back the strap to Zab because Baldomir didn't want to share a piece of the pie with them.

Well Bob Lee (Former IBF President and Founder) did/is doing time for corruption connected to the organization, so yes they are kind of tainted..

They are all money making machines, with too much power and influence; and history tells us, time and again, what happens when human beings have too much power......

I think that all of them have their plus and minus points, the problem of giving a title to something as unreliable as a fighter is the main problem....

WBC and IBF seem to have the best reputations, but I think the WBO can safely count itself up there, but the WBA just seems to be losing track completely at the moment. Do you want interim, ordinary, super or champion in recess? :confused:

You know what I mean BK, there's the established big four, kinda like the Premiership. WBO are the new boys, brought into the mix by long reigns by champs such as Joe Calzaghe, Marco Antonio Barrera, Wlad Klitschko etc. WBA with their four or five world titles in each division, WBC and IBF seem to be most stable and most coveted, despite the actions of the boards. :p

Honestly,they come off like the Mafia.Except the Santioned hits are carried out by the influenced judges,and other cronies in cheap suits.Now its all so watered down and polluted between the alphabet boys,Its left to the fans to keep it all in check.

I will say, that this to a very large degree, TV Executives fault, they feed into the system what little credability the alphabet organizations get.

I suspect most (TV Execs) either know little or nothing about the sport and thus use the organizations to find talent.

If talent has not got a piece of alphabet crap and is not established then TV Execs presume the fighter is not worth pursing. So of course, the up shot is fighters have to prostitute themselves to not just their pimps.... sorry promoters, but alphabet organizations as well!

Beavers is C Douglas Beavers the former long serving IBF Ratings Committee Chairman


'During the June 1997 meeting, Beavers and Lee discuss demanding $25,000 to move heavyweight Joe Hipp up to the No 6 contender slot, according to a sworn statement from an FBI agent.

In a tape from December 1997, Beavers is seen removing a package of $5,000 from his ankle and giving it to Lee, according the statement. Investigators say the money is a payoff from a promoter.

On October 21, 1998, Beavers takes money from his ankle and gives some to Lee and some to a former IBF official, Don Brennan, and Lee puts an envelope on a table and says it is "turkey" from "Fuzzy," the FBI said.

In court papers, Beavers said that "turkey" was a payoff and "Fuzzy" was King'

Don King was never prosecuted, and of course is totally innocent!;D

"turkey" being an argot for cash. With these organizations being so clever, it is a wonder they have ever gotten caught....
