No way Ricky is winning the fight...
Chris Williams:
I’ve gone over this fight every which way that I can, but in the end all I can see is Ricky Hatton (45-1, 32 KOs) getting knocked out by Manny Pacquiao (48-3-2, 36 KOs) on May 2nd at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. I think that Hatton, 30, isn’t in the same class as Pacquiao and will end up taking a ferocious beating from the Filipino star when they meet up. I think all the years of ballooning up in weight is going to catch up to Hatton when he steps foot in the ring on two weeks from now against Pacquiao.
Hatton looks a lot older than he was just two years ago, and it’s scary to see how much Ricky has aged in only two years. That’s not a good thing, because Pacquiao is the kind of opponent that Hatton would need to be in his prime to beat. However, judging by how Hatton has looked in his last three fights to Floyd Mayweather Jr., Juan Lazcano and Paulie Malignaggi, he’s slipping as a fighter.
Floyd Mayweather Sr. may have been helpful to Hatton if he had selected him as his trainer 10 years ago, but not now. Hatton’s kidding himself if he thinks that Mayweather will help him against Pacquiao. If anything, I see Mayweather as retarding Hatton’s growth and actually making him a worse fighter. You can’t take a pressure fighter and turn them into a boxer
. That’s a waste of time and plain dumb.
It reminds me of the desperation that Oscar De La Hoya was showing as he was getting ready to fight Pacquiao, hiring Muhammad Ali’s old trainer, taking on weird diets and looking for answers in the wrong places. If Hatton wants to have any chance in this fight - and he probably only has a slight chance in the best of circumstances - then he needs to try and mug Pacquiao on the inside and turn it into a wrestling, fouling type war.
The problem here is that Hatton will probably waste time by trying to box with the much faster and superior Pacquiao and end up finding himself hopelessly behind in the scoring by the time Hatton realizes that he needs to try and revert to his old style of fighting.
Hatton will be much too slow for Pacquiao and carved up like a turkey as he struggles with his new style. It’s actually going to be kind of funny, because it’s so utterly dumb of him to even think that he can outbox Pacquiao. The beating that Mayweather Jr. gave Hatton will pale besides the one that Pacquiao is going to give him on May 2nd, believe me. Hatton has really nothing going for him in this fight at all that I can think of.
He’s the same age as Pacquiao, but physically, Hatton looks at least four to five years older than Pacquiao, perhaps due to Hatton’s hard living. The speed won’t be there for him, neither will the power or movement. The only thing I can think that Hatton will do better is wrestle, but he won’t get many chances to do that because Pacquiao will keep drilling him all night long with power shots.
In the end, I see this fight as lasting no longer than the 8th round with Hatton flat on his back on the canvas covered with blood and shaking his head from side to side in disappointment.

Re: No way Ricky is winning the fight...
Pacquiao is hardly a well enough rounded fighter to say there is no way a guy as good as Hatton won't beat him for sure. IMO only Mayweather is that good.

Re: No way Ricky is winning the fight...
Shock Horror!!!
It's another piss poor nut hugging biased piece of shit journalism from the wank site that is Boxing News 24....
You know anyone can submit an article to that site, it doesn't have it's own journalists or anything like that. Just relys on whatever gets emailed in and publishes that!

Lmfao! :rotflmao: A prick? For sharing an article against Hatton? :-\

Re: No way Ricky is winning the fight...
Funny !!....how many times was this said about pac before he fought oscar.
-
Re: No way Ricky is winning the fight...
Any journalist who says there's 'no way' Hatton can win this fight needs to find a new job. This is about as even a fight to call as there's been in the past year.
-
Re: No way Ricky is winning the fight...
I am convinced Hatton will win and he will produce a performance similar as spectacular as the one against Tszyu. Hatton will not be denied. No way is Manny Pac winning.
-
Re: No way Ricky is winning the fight...
All these threads about Pac being a god, invincible, no flaws whatsoever, etc. make me want to cheer for Hatton even harder in two more weeks. I am Mexican but I will probably be singing the Hatton song on fight night! :D

By all means, join 'em. :) At least that's what you can do for your beloved DLH after seeing him getting his butt kicked all over the ring by Pac. Trust me, you'll be doing him a favor by cheering his fighter. Oscar will difinitely appreciate it. I don't want you cheering for Pac anyways, coz you might be a bad luck.

Re: No way Ricky is winning the fight...
That is a very poorly written "article". Nobody here is thinking for a single minute that Hatton is being remolded into a slickster, it's going to be the same old pressure but with more jabbing, combinations and and head movement. It's taking what was good from before, but refining it so that Hatton doesn't take too many unneccessary hits.
Hatton has always been an exceptional attacking fighter, but one who was becoming more and more predictable, and unfortunately it all unravelled as he got to the biggest fight of his career. It resulted in Hatton smothering himself and being unable to get off meaningful telling blows when he had Mayweather in a position he wanted. Hatton had to change after that. Mayweather was great but you can't help but feel that Hatton would have done better with a different approach.
Anyway, this is Manny Pac and I think Hatton is doing the right thing this time out. Training in the states for 5 weeks, running up the mountains at altitude, it's come to the point where Hatton knows what is neccessary for him to fight in the states. We aren't hearing about chest infections, or needing to lose lots of weight, he isn't developing cold sores. Hatton is seemingly right where he needs to be. And Hatton at his best is going to be a lot for Manny to handle.
Bring it on!!!

The Pac fans and the propaganda offensive make it hard for me to like Manny. He seems like a fairly likeable chap, but his hangers on and supporters are on the whole an unlikable bunch (there are a few exceptions to that). A lot of arrogance and tunnel vision, and it really does detract from the good qualities he no doubt has. For sure, it makes more and more people will on the underdog, Hatton.

Re: No way Ricky is winning the fight...
I thought my Cotto-Clottey post was biased!! This one is just plain nauseating!
Hatton is not trying to turn himself into a boxer! Where in the world do you get that crap? Just because he hired Mayweather??
He wants to learn a few movements to add to his arsenal. Remember boxing is a game of inches. (or is that GOLF?? :D) ;D
Listen, the original poster may indeed be right about his prediction, but what good is this brand new PAC thread, only saying Hatton is chopmeat and a carved-up turkey?
I hope Hatton surprises this poster and catches an overconfident PAC coming straight in with a good WALLOP!!!!!

As for the Pacnfanatics, It just makes threads worse getting into to it, let it go....
I've been looking at some of Ricky training videos and he looks pretty good. The last one I looked at he was at 150lbs, 5 weeks out. Conditioning wise, he's ready for a 12 rounder with Manny. (not that I think it will go 12, but if Manny is doing that in and out shit it effectively it could) With Bayless being the ref, I don't think we'll see a lot of the Hitman on the inside. If Ricky is able to get to Manny on the inside, it will be due to Manny's mistake of impatience. I can see Manny wanting to trade with Ricky after getting caught with a good shot. If a slug fest is the result, bets are Ricky has the upper hand. From all tells, that is exactly what Ricky is hoping for. It could well backfire too if Manny is able to smother Ricky with blows. One well place shot by either fighter, or for the non-believers, lucky shot, and the fight is over.
People are underestimating Ricky's boxing skills. There is no way he'll look like De La Hoya did against Pacquiao. So you forget that out classing of skills crap. Ricky is not that slow and will being giving what he is taking at least on occasion. The other thing is Ricky is a master at cutting off the ring. He did it very well against Mayweather Jr. We all know both these fighters are pure warriors and will man-up to the challenge. That is why the fight is sold out!
I'm expecting this fight to be one of the best of the year and if chins survive, one of the best battles of the decade.
IMO, This fight is not about being the "better fighter" in the ring wins. It's all about who's first! The fighter that is first WINS! Just like your mom, dad or coach did in your corner, shouting "Be First". Why? Because they both have the power to do the damage, so one one who his first is the one to do the damage first. ;D

Good summise Johnny. Being first will definately count, although i'm unsure whether Pacman will have what it takes to knock Hatton out.
People really underestimate Hattons boxing ability and think its something he is trying to learn from Mayweather and get away from being just an aggressive pressure fighter. Ricky has always been able to box with excellent movement and superb footwork, just started to leave those skills behind, and now they are back again where they belong. Everyone will see them feet move and some great angles come out to play come May 2nd

Re: No way Ricky is winning the fight...
That's how I feel too Miles.
I was watching Hatton's fights and there are many times where Hatton does a sort of charging left hook just like the one he did vs Mayweather that got him knocked down. I really hope he stops doing that charging left hook or at least try to be more careful. But you know, Pac somehow does the same thing with his charging left straight. One of them will have to make the other pay for that mistake.

Yeah good point; a leaping hook as to come after an opponents miss or youre jumping into a counter yourself.

On the boxing prediction note ;
I find it funny how Many go for the favorite in a two horse race and then claim full stable rights .

Re: No way Ricky is winning the fight...
Not only will ricky lose but he might get knocked out.
Last night on ESPN Teddy Atlas delivered the "KISS of DEATH".
As I watched with anticipation, the moment of truth was nigh.
Teddy Atlas was going to reveal who he was picking to win in the upcoming bout between Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao. All I could say is PLEASE DON'T PICK Manny Pacquiao! PLEASE DON'T PICK Manny Pacquiao!
And then suddenly,
Atlas uttered these words: "I am picking Ricky Hatton to win"
YES! I yelled and I jumped out of my chair.
I was so delighted!
Everyone knows that when Teddy Atlas makes a prediction for any major fight, he is 98% of the time completely wrong, not only does he get it wrong, the fighters he picks get humiliated.
Too bad for the Hatton fans.
Thank you Teddy Atlas for delivering that Kiss of Death live on national t.v.
Now I can drop some serious cash on Manny Pacquiao to win.
I am going to have to go out on a limb here and say that Hatton will be knocked out in the 5th.
98 % of my predictions are correct, do you want to know why? Go back and read my post again. ;)

Winky Wright is a bum that is why he got it right.
Like I said, Teddy is 98% percent WRONG when it comes to picking a winner.
There is no way in HELL, ricky hatton beats Manny Pacquiao.
Hatton will be EXPOSED and everyone will know why Hatton has been hiding in the junior welter weight division all this time. This wont be a soft beating like the one he got from Mayweather Jr., no, this is going to be an onslaught assault and the worst beating Hatton has ever received. Hatton will most likely retire after this.
His fans can go on to sing.
THERE IS NO MORE RICKY HATTON!
NOW HE'S BUM, FAT AS A PLUMB
STUMBLING IN A DRUNKEN WONDERLAND! ;)

If you base all your knowledge of boxing on simply going against what Atlas is thinking then perhaps you are the bum, eh? Not much of the critical thinker methinks.
Hatton has every chance of upsetting Manny Pac, and comments like yours only make more and more people want him to do so as well. How about acknowledging that Hatton is a very good fighter and is one that has been hovering around the PFP top 10 since beating Tszyu. He's a very good fighter and one that is likely to cause Manny a lot of problems. Now if you think this is improbable all because of what you hear from Atlas, then I suggest you go out and get some boxing knowledge of your own.
Manny is only human and he can be beaten like the rest of them. ;)

Hatton has rode the KT express for the very last time. He beat KT 4 years ago. How long is this win going to keep him on the so called P4P list? What has Hatton done since beating KT? Hatton on May 2nd will be exposed. Will his fans continue to bring up KT forever? Hatton's fans are worse than Calzaghe's fans. ;)

There are no worse fans that Pac fans. Manny Pac is an amazing fighter but please get off his nuts and see the cold light of day. He will be crushed by Hatton. This is the real deal.

Maybe, but this is boxing and people know better than to rule out the other guy completely. Hatton has beaten everyone in front of him and only Mayweather handled him properly, and even then Hatton was in the fight up until the points deduction.
Hatton dominated Paulie far better than Cotto ever could, and nobody else came close to stopping Castillo in the manner Hatton did. Hatton is underrated, considering he is still there fighting for belts and beating people convincingly.

Beating an old castillo and some young punk named malignaggi make Hatton a top 10 p4p fighter? I will ask you again, how long will hatton and his fans ride the KT express? The train STOPS HERE! Mark my words:HATTON WILL BE EXPOSED. They might even have to lock Hatton up for impersonating a fighter and they might have to arrest Pacquioa for attempted murder or battering a fat man in public ;)

They might even have to lock Hatton up for impersonating a fighter and they might have to arrest Pacquioa for attempted murder or battering a fat man in public ;)
.
Would you care to explain how he might do this exactly? :)

Hatton is great in a division where there are no greats WOW. Move over fat man the greats have arrived.
Hatton has been hidding in a division that is weak and puny.
Smaller fighters are now coming to chase the fatman out of his own so called division. Where is hatton going to go? He can't go up because he get's beat up by gatekeepers in the welter weight division and he will be too afraid to stay at 140 because the little bad boys are now coming to take it over. Hatton will be exposed and he will be forced to retire because he will be getting owned left and right from here on end. ;)

You haven't explained how Manny is going to beat Hatton. But whatever, keep up with the bombast, you'll start to look like Freddie Roach before you know it! ;)
