Yes why not if he beats Manny he deserves it really but can't see him winning rematch either.
Not sure there is much point to be honest!
Absolutely I think he deserves another crack at Floyd at 140 and in Manchester. But I don't see Floyd dropping down in weight or going over there. But what a storyline it would be if it happened that way and Floyd Sr. was in Hattons corner. Floyd was just a beltholder at 140 and never won the unified belt there which could entice him to drop down maybe.
well he can always claim it'd be a different story at light welter since he's never done well at the higher weight. dare pbf to beat him at 140 where he's undefeated (if he beats the pacman). so yeah, i guess he deserves another shot.
Mayweather is gay, he wants to sit at 147 and never fight another 147 pound fighter again.
Part of me would like Hatton to have another go, but another side wishes Mayweather would bugger off and fight a Mosley or Cotto type. :-\
Agree Miles, if Mayweather really wants to add to his legacy he needs to face true world class welters, beating the hell out of Hatton again 'll prove nothing new.
I can't see how the result of the Pac fight actually would make Hatton more deserving than anyone else at 147, Pac folding over from a body shot after dominating would only prove that Pac went a weight too far.
He would definatly deserve another shot, I cant see him gettin Mayweather out of retirement let alone down to 140 though.
It clearly still plays on Hatton that he didnt stick to the game plan hed worked on, was allowed to be wound up and wasnt allowed to fight by that nob head Cortez. All he wants is to do it properly and if he loses anyway hed be able to walk away in a much better frame of mind. No ifs and buts he gave it his best shot and he lost. Which he couldnt do after the 1st fight.
Not that i think hed win, but you never know do you.
Avoiding a possible rematch between those two is just another good reason to root for Manny.
It's not a case of deserving, it's a case of what fight makes the most money. Hatton and Mayweather both only have a few fights left and they want all those fights to make as much money as possible. Shane Mosley most deserves the chance to fight Mayweather but unless Mosley brings the most money to the table then Mayweather will go with what he considers the most deserving, or biggest money, option.
I'm with Kirk on this one. I think a Hatton win increases the chances of a Mosely fight. PBF is a hard guy to figure out though. A lot of ego is involved here. He may not want to fight Shane and regardless of opponent he may price himself out of the best fights we want.
I'm sure Hatton would say so, and if he does beat the p4p number 1 in the world. For your average fan Mayweather vs Hatton 2 would make so much sense. Surly it would make millions.
And it is Money Mayweather.
Not at all. There would be no point not even for Hatton unless, well money that's all.
I'd say he does i guess......he'd get his ass kicked again but hell why not. Hatton has as much chance as anyone.
I wouldn't want to see Hatton get knocked out again, but if he beats Pacquiao then yes I think he deserves another shot!
Its only fair. Then he will be the one to set up the weight for the fight with Mayweather.
If not we can always see Marquez vs. Hatton.
Does Hatton deserve a shot at PBF:moon2: the man who is coming out of retirement::**...there needs to be a little perspective here...
Ricky would have beaten p4p and arguably would take over as p4p in many boxing fans eyes...
The question should be after such a lay off would he deserve a shot at Hatton....Maybe he could take on old Plaster of Paris hands in Mexico instead:rotflmao:
Erm ... what? Nevermind. There's not much in your "arguably" and the notion that Mayweather is somehow auto-diminished because he is coming out of retirement ... very strange assumption.
All that aside, I'd like to see Floyd fight Hatton at 140. There would be no excuses. A decisive Floyd victory would leave little room for interpretation or spin. And posts like mofo's here would know what "perspective" is.
I like Ricky but when it comes to Floyd, I am a believer. Not a nuthahugga, just a believah.
Hmm... Another "If" thread for hatton.
Is it just me? Or a lot of these Hatton fans are counting their chickens before they hatch?
There is nothing strange about the assumption that the man who arguably takes over as p4p and then has the cards in is hand, should decide who he would fight!!
Thats common sense..
I am in no way diminishing PBF's achievement..but he went..might come back..but is no longer in control of who he faces to the fullest extent!
I agree a fight at 140 would be good..but to transfer Believer for Floyd nutthugger did'nt work;D;D;D
No doubt about it, he would deserve another shot if he beats Pacquiao.
I feel a second fight would end much like the first fight though.
Sorry ... Much as I like Ricky, Floyd's emeritus status as an ATG and the possibility that he might have GOAT position (something that he has come close to demonstrating but perhaps not quite absolutely proving) ... I think that is an objective perspective on Floyd.
In contrast ... how many conversations are there about whether or not Ricky might be the GOAT, or what he must achieve to prove that he is?
Floyd may not be GOAT but he is in any converstation about GOAT. Ricky isn't even a contender for the appellation.
All Floyd has to do is step into the ring, and anybody within reasonable weightclass range is instantly assigned a very different title. Underdog.
There is a reason for this, and it has nothing to do with my opinion of the matter.
As far as nuthugging ... I believe that Mayweather did lose one fight, but was unfairly given the W.
yes probably - he would have just beaten the p4p heir to PBF and be the biggest draw of only 2-3 potential opponents.
PBF will want to make plenty of $$$$ and Hatton guarantees that.
I see Hatton beating Pac but at same time give Pac more of a chance of beating Floyd than him :-\
I see a Hatton PBF rematch ending in much the same way as the first though
of course all these talk of another shot would be moot if he loses this saturday, sunday morning from where i'm at. lol
