It didn't work with Jim McMahon.
It didn't work with Randall Cunningham.
Or Warren Moon. Or Jeff George.
Why in the hell would they want Favre to QB their team? It sickens me.

It didn't work with Cunningham, that seems a bit harsh don't you think? They were one Gary Anderson missed field goal away from the Super Bowl with Cunningham at the helm, I wouldn't say that didn't work.
But I'd like to say this, the world doesn't need Brett Favre. Or the NFL doesn't anyways.
Farve is fukking done.
I could play QB for the Vikings! With Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor in the running game why would you even want to pass?????
Didn't Cunningham go 15-1 as the Vikings starter and make the NFC championship game? And didn't George also have a pretty good record there for a year or two? I wouldn't sign Farve either though. Great running game and improving defense so they just need a good game manager who doesn't make mistakes. For every great play Brett made last year he also had some really crappy moments.
Favre needs to step out of the game. He needs to retire! The Vikings would probably sell a few more tickets in exchange for a ton of interceptions thrown...
Favre lies like other people breathe, little attention whore.
I hate him, I have to go from channel 24 directly to 26 just to make sure I don't hear anything about him on sportscenter.
The issue with Favre is he never wanted to retire, the Packers tried to force his hand, he wasn't ready, they blocked trading him to the Vikings directly (which they probably could have gotten a lot more for him than they did) and now it looks like he's going to play for the Vikings just because he wants to show his old team up.
Both sides are at fault here, the only problem is The Packers can't really do anything after they have traded him away.
Favre hasn't done anything wrong, he's entitled to play in the NFL as long as someone will pay him....I'd take him on the Panthers any day of the week!!! He doesn't owe the Packers anything other than a simple "Thank you for taking a chance on me" which I assume the Super Bowl apperances did for him.
The Packers are invested in Aaron Rodgers ( a very capable QB) and they have moved on. The J-E-T-S (S-U-C-K) have invested in a new QB as well and they should be happy Brett has moved on as now their team can grow.
Why so much hate for Favre???? Sure he went about retiring TWICE in a dumb way but the height of this irony is that a bunch of BOXING fans are angry about it.....REALLY??? I mean all I have to tell you is RAY LEONARD and that should let you know where you stand on retirement issues in pro sports
how old is Favre now?
after Lyle points out the irony everyone does this :bag:
just checked on wikipedia & he is 97 yrs old
Brett needs to stick with football...
tag football on Wrangler commercials.
.....oh now they do. These little talks have pissed off all the other qb's they have.
Farve is a fukking traitor.
I guess you could call me a bitter Jets fan.
I was happy we got him. I thought Favre was a breath of fresh air for the organization. He played, I supported him, throughout all the interceptions. Then all of a sudden he doesn't want to play for the Jets. I assumed it was cause he was done with the game. Now he wants to go play for the Vikings.
It's like he's trying to be Oscar De La Hoya. Oscar kept fighting people or kept negotiations with certain fighters that could've been fighting other elite fighters but he kept luring them with paydays even if he didn't deserve the shot. Let other people shine and step away. Imagine being a Quarterback for the Vikings. Even though you'll get the job done better than Favre, they may start him because he is who he is.
I hope he does come back.
Just so I can hear Vikings fans say, "Really makes you appreciate Gus Frerrote doesn't it?"
I think he's horrifically overrated in a general sense though
Top five all time quarterback ;D Get the fuck out of here
The media slobbers all over this guy, its ridiculous.
"He's just having fun out there" as he throws another horrible interception.
"He's got the itch", "Brett just wants to go back to Mississippi and mow his grass"
Brett wants to mow his grass? What is he, a bit slow?
Pathetic. But funny.
As you can see I have a cartoonish dislike for Brett Favre
It may be a bit irrational, I just want him off my TV.
not aikman IMHO
Umm...Big Ben is not nearly the QB that Peyton is. Super Bowl wins are not a good barometer of how good a QB is.
Ok Vikings, I'm not playing for you. Stay tuned to find out why. Even in staying retired (yeah right), Favre tries to keep himself in the news.
peyton slow ass aint shit
and you think Rothlesberger is fast?
i never said he was fast. but he is faster than manning.
I guess this thread is for nothing. Favre decides to stay retired...
...until a team shows interest prompting another Favre headline.
Meh, if he had gone ahead and signed he would have gotten his attention for a week or so but then it would have died off till training camp, this way he can keep the spotlight on him longer, throw out a few rumors here and there to keep things going.
And no, I don't totally believe everything I say about Favre but its possible, he is a gigantic attention whore after all.
The Vikes are gonna go to the Super Bowl without or without Favre
I remember Cunningham blowing a playoff game against the 49ers the season before that.
Brad Johnson was ditched. Rich Gannon was ditched. Both went on to play against each other in Superbowl... 36? Raiders Vs. Bucs
I think Jeff George was underrated, but he was still on the downslide when Minnesota decided he was the man for them.
The 9ers were huuuge favorites in 97 over the Vikings BG, you can't say just because Cunningham didn't pull it out versus one of the most balanced teams in the league that he was a failure. I have that game on recording, I sometimes watch it before I sleep (not the Packer game which we lost) and yeah, that's a lot to expect to beat those 49ers. It was a 2 horse race that year between the 9ers and Packers as that was the year the Cowboys had finally fallen off and for good.
