Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
I was wondering with Pac beating guys that Mayweather has already beaten in Oscar and Hatton and Pac being the present P4P#1 and them both being multiple weight champions who is ranked higher i think its Mayweather.

Re: Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
its mayweather for he hes never been beat and cant see him haven any problems with jmm or pacman if he fights him.

Re: Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
1.Pacquiao had better opposition(fought bigger fighters than himself)
2.Common opponents Oscar and Ricky was stopped by Manny.
3.For naturally being smaller PAC is a better puncher. FEAT!!!
4.Perfection in PBF's record is nothing since he is UNTESTED at Welterweight anyways.
5.PBF is picking on smaller fighters like JMM and PAC instead of fighting Cotto, Mosely or Paul Williams to ESTABLISH his GREATNESS against men his SIZE!!!

Re: Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
I think right now I'd have to say Pacquiao because Mayweather hurt is case by 'retiring' and also the fact he's not taking on the top fighters at his current weight.

Re: Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
Pacquaio......I think Pac has the edge in heart/mental toughness and Money has the edge in physical talent. Pac has always fought the best, and Mayweather has not. Mayweather has Roy Jones syndrome, he definitely has the physical talent to be an all time great but has limited himself because he is afraid to lose......
At this point I dont consider Floyd an all time great.

Re: Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
I love Floyd but I gotta go with the Pacman as of now. 6 titles 4 division legit champ and took on the very best. I don't think Pac would have retired without fighting a Cotto or a Margarito.

Re: Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
right this moment i'd say pac. But when it's all said and done who knows. Everyone always remembers the last thing they saw. Just about five minutes ago cotto was for sure the guy, by the end of the day it may be someone else.

if thats the case then how can we gauge pbf overall as a boxer? he didnt pushed his physical limits against bigger guys or boxers most of us think is better than pbf so how will we know if he really is great?
pacs record aint perfect he lost a few when he was struglling in weight also lost to great boxers. BUT he won against the best ALL except jmm admitted the they where beaten by a midget/amateur/one dimensional fighter. :) and the two boxers both of them have in common hatton and odlh pac disposed of in a manner better than pbf.

Re: Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
Pac no doubt. It amazing how he can leap frog division after division and KO his opponents like that. That's just crazy.

Re: Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
When Mayweather fought Oscar he fought him while he was the number 1 Light-middleweight in the world at his best fighting weight. After fighting Mayweather Oscar did'nt look so good vs Forbes then he drops down in weight and fights Pac now stoppage or not does Pac's win over Oscar really look better than Mayweathers? This was an ageing Oscar who had'nt fought at Welterweight for more than 10 years and had to be rehydrated via Intravenus. Morales was shot and David Diaz was just their to be hit i love to watch Pac fight i really do and he is a great champ and is great for the sport and no doubt right now he is P4P#1 but are we getting hype crazy??

Re: Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
why was Gavin Rees not one of the options ?
-
Re: Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
I find PBF's overall talent to be superior, but I am more impressed with Manny's body of work. So I think Floyd is the better fighter but I put Manny higher for the moment in regards to the mythical ATG..if that makes sense.
-
Re: Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
Honestly, I'd say it's too early to talk about either one as an ATG. Those kinds of discussions are much better with the power of hindsight. Right now, both guys still have a bit more boxing to do.

First, it is too soon to make the call. Let's wait.
However, if Pacquiao beat Cotto after Cotto beat Clottey and PBF retired after his Marquez fight. I'd probably go with Pacquiao.
Tyson - who did you pick to win the Oscar v. Pacquiao fight? Who did you pick to win the Oscar v. PBF fight? I picked Oscar in the first instance and Floyd in the second. It is all fine to look at it with 20/20 hindsight, but that was a big win for Pacquiao. Oscar was the much bigger man and Pacquiao the decided underdog. And it was less than a year and a half since Oscar lost by split decision to PBF. In between the Pac fight and the PBF fight, Oscar only fought once. He couldn't have aged that much. Pacquiao destroyed Oscar. Since we are comparing similar foes, it took Pacquiao less than two round to beat Hatton at Hatton's natural weight in a fight in where Hatton had the size advantage; it took PBF 10 rounds to beat Hatton at PBF's natural weight in a fight where PBF had the size advantage.
Question: how many lineal titles does PBF hold? Not being rhetorical, I honestly don't know.

Re: Who is higher ranked on All Time Greats list Pac or Mayweather?
Right now it's Pac. But that could change this year (hope not).

I get what you're saying. One person is textbook and style-wise better but the other is making the bigger moves legacy-wise.

This might take a while. This is my personal analysis of the situation that makes me give Manny the higher place in boxing history.
Overall, both fighters have a great resume. But IMO I think Pacquiao edges Mayweather in an All-Time Great contest.
Carrer defining wins:
Floyd Mayweather: Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya, Zab Judah, Arturo Gatti, Jose Luis Castillo, Diego Corrales.
Manny Pacquiao: Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera (twice), Erik Morales (twice), Lehlohonolo Ledwaba.
In those lists of fighters, Pacquiao has more wins over first-ballot Hall of Famers than Mayweather does.
Adversity of those career defining wins:
Floyd Mayweather: Corrales was favored to beat Floyd, so this win was huge! Also, they were the two best super featherweights at the time. The win against Jose Luis Castillo was disputed, but Floyd fought not at 100% with the shoulder injury. The second fight was all Mayweather. Gatti was massacred and Judah was soundly beaten but Floyd was favored to do so in each. He moved up in weight to beat De La Hoya. But he then fought a smaller fighter in Ricky Hatton at Floyd's weightclass.
Manny Pacquiao: Took a fight in two weeks notice against a world champion in Ledwaba. Moved up in weight to dominate Barrera. Fought Morales 3 times at Morales' weight class (but it gradually turned more into Pacquiao weight class as the trilogy progressed). Comfortably beat Barrera in the rematch. Marquez was a controversial win, but the knockdown played a factor. Went up two weight classes and was the underdog against De La Hoya (yes he was weight drained, but pre-fight, Pacquiao had everything against him). Beat Hatton at Hatton's weight class.
Both fighters have controversial wins and dominant performances. But Manny more consistently moved up in weight to beat elite fighters.
Record:
Floyd Mayweather: 39-0
Manny Pacquiao: 49-3
Easy debate here. Mayweather wins.
Fighter's Evolution:
Mayweather has fought one way his whole life. Counter punching and pot shotting through his inpenetrable defense. He slugged it out in the lower weights but relied more on his defense the higher in weight he went. He started his pro career at super featherweight and went as high as junior middleweight.
Pacquiao was nothing more than a slugger when he started his career. He only relied on his left hand. Throughout his career, he added counter punching, better head movement, discipline, power in both hands, etc. Pacquiao is an example of a fighter that just keeps getting better. His power has carried over in all the weight classes he's touched. He started out as a junior flyweight and fought as high as welterweight.
I think Pacquiao gets the nod here.
Criticism of both fighters:
Mayweather supposedly ducked fighers along the way. Barrera/Morales when Floyd was at the lower weight classes, Tszyu at junior welter, and Cotto/Williams/Mosely (goes both ways)/Margarito at welterweight. Yes, Floyd can beat all those fighters but the fact that he didn't even try will hurt him in the long run.
Pacquiao's timing at the boxing game is perfect. Barrera, Morales, and De La Hoya were towards the end of their career when they fought Manny. But the fact that Pacquiao isn't afraid to fight anyone and in multiple weight classes makes his career more impressive IMO. He fought the big names and elite fighters.
I'm sure there's more to take into consideration but these are the things that stick out in my head that make Pacquiao further ahead of Floyd in the ATG status. Neither of the two careers are over yet so in the future, they may be bigger than we think they are now!

He fought Genero Hernandez for the WBC Super Featherweight title he was classed as number 1 in the division He fought and beat number 1 at lightweight Jose Luis Castillio he didnt fight the number 1 at light welterweight he fought WBC champ Gatti he fought and and beat number 1 and 2 at Welterweight Baldimor and Judah then upto Light Middle to beat number 1 Oscar De La Hoya at his comfortable weight not a weight he hadnt made for 10year plus. Although yes i did pick Oscar to beat Pac i picked Floyd to beat Oscar

PBF avoided his fellow top dogs at 147 (Cotto, Margo, and PWill) that's the reason he's undefeated... that's also reason why he temporarily retired cuz he couldn't handle the pressure being put to him from those fighters.
Btw, not all undefeated fighters are the sh1t.

That's exactly how I feel.

Well let's see...if floyd decided to stay at 130-135, and wiped out the rest down there then moved up he'd still be given credit...floyd did exactly what pac is doing..
pac moves up and beats old washed delahoya same floyd..
pac moves up and beats undisputed JW champ
floyd moves up and beats undisputed WW champ in baldomir and beat judah just in case people wanted to use the fact that judah lost to baldomir as an excuse.
And in terms of ATG, the fact that floyd is still undefeated given his level of competition is a credit over pac man...floyd has one controversial decision on his record which he immediately rematched and won by a larger margin..pac clearly lost to JMM twice.
I rate JMM higher than pac but below PBF....No one is asking pacman to wipe out the WW division since he beat oscar, because it would be suicide to put him in the ring with mosely, cotto, berto, margarito. Pac man would be slaughtered in three of those fights.
