Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
This article quoting Ray Hatton says Ricky shouldn't have fought
Sky Sports | Boxing | News | Dad - Ricky shouldn't have fought
I'm getting tired of this attempt to shift blame onto Floyd Mayweather Sr, everyone heard him telling Ricky what to do, and Ricky didn't do it. They did this after his defeat to Mayweather, claiming it was all down to Cortez & the weight, now its all the trainer's fault. I actually thought Ricky fought fairly well in the Mayweather fight & was just outclassed, but this time he was abysmal. I can understand his Dad making excuses but that Gareth Williams guy really pisses me off. These guys should of stopped Ricky doing TV shows at 11PM the night before the fight and had him resting rather than blaming it all on someone else again

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
Set of Fannys.
I like Hatton but the people around him do my head in. I've heard a rumour from someone who supposedly has a bit of inside info that Hatton is going to refuse to pay Mayweather Sr due to him hardly being at training.
Should just accept that he got chinned. Would have happened to anybody who'd have come at Pac like that with no head movement or guard.

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
Ray Hatton is such a cringworthy funker.
Ricky went through with the fight because he wouldn't let the fans down.. it has nothing to do with Ricky's MASSIVE payday then?
:beat:

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
absoloute crap
If hatton was SOOO disheartened by the way the training camp was going why the hell didnt he alter things late on rather than tell us all on a day to day basis how he was in the shape of his life thanks to the way training had been going??
Oscar had a very valid reason for underperforming against manny but still to this day has chose not to disclose too many details of what we all pretty much know was something that went horribly wrong in the 24 hours between the weigh in and the fight.
This however is just sourgrapes from hatton snr and a very poor showing if you ask me!!

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
not even gonna read it the title tells me all i need to know....
RICKY AINT RETIRING

Now, Now, don't be cynical, after all he fights in Vegas cos it's cheaper there for the fans than to go to the MEN.
I don't think they realise that these excuses make them look worse, they were happy enough with Floyd after the Paulie fight.
-
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
One of these days, the Hatton family will come to grips with reality and figure out that Ricky is a good fighter who will never beat a Floyd/Pac level fighter, even on his best day.
Enough with the excuses already.

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
'Ricky made a mistake and got caught. I think to a large extent he was let down by people around him,' he added. 'But we’re not going to start making excuses or trying to divert blame because that’s not the way we are.'

Isn't that exactly what they are doing? Wankers.

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
He fought he lost. Case closed. The record books and bank acct's don't care how or why and neither do I. Before the fight and all over 24/7 hatton was fine, crackin jokes, playin darts, wearing thongs, now all of the sudden he was sick, he was tired, the lights were in his eyes, the popcorn guy flicked salt in his gloves, floyd sr set his watch wrong, they all had swine flu.....any others i missed ???? Geeeeez people give it a rest already.
-
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
Maybe Ricky would have lasted a few more rounds if he had a better trainer but that is about it.
I do think Floyd Sr is a classless POS and I hope everyone can see what happened in Hattons camp and does not use him.
-
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
I've never understood why people make excuses all the while saying they're not making excuses, take nothing away from the other guy's performance, etc.
Just make your excuses, say he could have been better if he had a different trainer, didn't have injuries, weight problems, sock issues, training camps burning down. He would have been better if he had both of his hands, but take nothing away from the other guy.

I'm a big Hatton fan but I do agree he shouldn't have fought. Not because of the camp, but because even on his best day, I saw no way he was gunna beat Manny Pacquiao. Quit with the excuses, its just putting Ricky in a bad light.
-
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
What was the excuse? Heard the interview by his dad on Setanta and was waiting for him to say why he should not have fought and he talked like a politician and said nothing concrete.

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
Damn that Mayweather. If only he wouldn't of been late. There's no doubt if Mayweather would of showed up 10 minutes before he did Pacquiao would of got knocked out. Those 10 minutes before hand wrapping are so fukking crucial. And Mayweather missed them. And in turn he cost Hatton the fight

Come on VD, you have to admit when your getting the best part of a million dollers to turn up that late is a bit of a joke.
But the Hatton empire make me laugh its like a circus act im going off Ricky and his " team " more and more by the day, becasue of some late showings and some unproffesional behaviour it should of been called off lol, Ray FUCK OFF!!!
Prior to the fight Hatton was in the best shape of his life i know hes not going to say anything else in such a big fight, but ten days before the fight he was giving worldwide interviews saying to get the mortgage on him he wont let us down, i mean that defintly sounds like a man whose training camp has been so poor he should of pulled out .
Hatton will fight again because its all about fleecing his fans for all he can get, i mean the so called man off the people wants a nice £10 million plus home coming payday probably against some punchbag who hasnt got a dig on him, to add to the Hatton empire, the guy is turning into the english version of Dela Hoya.

Hatton has been fighting long enough to know what to do. All this shiit Mayweather did don't even matter. It all falls on Hatton. If I remember correctly he approached Mayweather to train him. Not the other way around.

Oh dont get me wrong its a crock of shit, but for your head trainer to turn up 30 mins before the fight, is no the best preperation for the fight, in truth Ricky and his team need to man up and admit Ricky is a decent fighter who is unfortunatly nowhere near the elite level.
-
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
it's this kind of delusionalism that kept Ricky from perfecting any mistakes that contributed in his loss to Mayweather. Everyone and their mom were blaming weight etc saying Ricky was unstoppable at 140 and everything as did the people around Hatton probably. And Ricky bought into it, went in with Pacquiao like he was gonna do what he'd done to everyone instead of listen to Mayweather's instructions and got knocked out.

They should. But they won't. And I'm glad. That way Hatton can still think he's elite. Than hopefully he'll get another big fight and we'll all be blessed with another classic knock out loss.

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
Everyone loses and it is OK to lose, even the greats, losing tells not only you but everyone around you what you are made of by how you hanle the loss...
Crap like this makes the loss seem like it was well deserved, it takes the champion out of a fighter...Champions don't make excuses or allow those around him to do so.....
Ricky is looking like a sore loser again....the actions taking place now will be what people remember in 20 years not the loss itself

What also shows it more is that he made NO attempt to change anything in his style after the loss to Mayweather, and even when Mayweather Sr probably worked on him with new things he went out there and fought the same way, made the same mistakes again. I think he doesn't need people around him giving him excuses for all his losses like his fans have been doing.

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
As I've said on the other thread, Team Hatton panicked BEFORE the fight and AFTER the fight they're still in panic mode...;)
They all could end up licking their self-inflicted wounds...;D
.

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
Mayweather was useless at this point in Hatton's career. He was there merely to sell tickets. If Hatton was loyal, he would have never ditched BIlly Graham.......because everything was already set.

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
Ray Hatton is making Ricky look like a total prick with all these excuses ,
I mean FUCKING BOOHOO Ricky got KOED , but got a massive payday , im sure lots of fans got loans to go over to Vegas and will be paying the money back for years while Ricky counts his cash.
People like Ray Hatton shouldn't even be given air time on tv or interviewed by the press.
Ray - for you - :fyou:
PS. look at the sig below , this is a HITMAN !
-
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
Colds, chest infections, poor preperation, Manny cheated, I wasn't ready ........
The excuses come even in victory, we shouldnt be suprised by them in defeat.
Only Ricky really knows if he should have fought or not, be sure to find out in his forthcoming book or DVD.

Exactly, maybe if he's such a man of the people he could refund the guys who went over.
As Dax eluded, there's a way to handle a loss, and the real hitman in your sig was a ture great who NEVER belittled or try to cheapen an opponent's victory over him.

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
Ricky Hatton lost to the very best boxer on planet earth.
There is no shame in that so why does his camp make excuses that make him look like a crybaby.:(
-
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
It has become a trend for Hatton and his camp making excuses for when he has lost or had a bad performance.
Collazo - Fight was at 147, put on the weight wrong, short notice, should have pulled out of fight.
Urango - Virus, should have pulled out of fight.
Mayweather - Fight was at 147.
Lazcano - Another virus, should have pulled out of fight.
Pacquiao - Bad training camp, should have pulled out of fight.
-
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
don't like reading this crap after what happened.
So this great trainer he went on about is now shite etc...
He looked in great shape to me and certainly wasn't lacking in confidence.
They will be saying it was unfair that Manny was allowed to hit him when his guard was down next.
I agree after reading this - he defo isn't retiring. You know now I wouldn't be surprised if we saw him challenging one of the top ten p4p fighters again in the next 12 months/ I am sure an wasy comeback win can be orchestrated
The hatton cash cow is not out of milk yet :-\

He shouldn't be ALLOWED to get anywhere NEAR a top ten p4p fighter in the future. The way he lost to Pacquiao showed he never should've been top 10 to begin with.

Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
i'm a big fan of hattons, but you know what....they goto stop all this excuse buisness. when he lost to mayweather it was billy's fault, this time is mayweather snr's fault.......fact is roach said manny would ko him in under 3 rounds, they even showed on 24/7 how they was goner do it, ricky even made fun of manny and roach when he said " right hand roll, right hand roll, right hand roll...thats all he does" he got beat again by the better boxer so leave it at that, he's a national hero, millions in the bank, had a good career.........dont keep blaming your trainers for loses, you lost to the top guys in the world theres no shame in that
-
Re: Apparently Ricky shouldn't have fought
he should blame himself for underestimating pac. he made fun of him in 24/7 about the hook and roll tactic and he got hit by that almost every single time. thats what happen when you grow your nuts too big thinking you are what you think youre not and your lights gets turned off. now you blame mayweather. ricky knows he is not into the sweet science. all he knows what to do is maul people. he keeps saying that people are looking too much into the dela hoya vs pac match up. he was also comparing it to the hatton vs mallinaggi fight and thought he learned how to box. when i saw him in the weigh in looking like he came from a WW2 concentration camp, all the chances for him being in the fight just went out the window.
