Official FNF thread 5/22/09

Alright I'll get this started.

Tonight's main event is between Richard "Chest Hair Cross" Gutierrez and Antwone "The Truth" Smith. Gutierrez always tries to press and make fights. Gutierrez fought to a draw in his last bout trying to get going again after his devasting loss to Alfredo Angulo. Gutierrez a FNF mainstay, fought a bout with many swing rounds. Smith whose also had multiple showings on FNF is coming off a bout that could have gone either way. Even though he scored a kd against then-undefeater "Demonio" Gonzalez, he was rocked on numerous occassions.

The undercard features Cubans Erislandy Lara (5-0 3KOs) and Guillermo Rigondeaux (pro debut). Lara's opponent has made a name for himself as someone who likes to punch below the beltline. Rigondeaux is facing an unknown from AR, certainly in there to get chin checked.

The unfortunate thing is that Softball is on before the fights, which will likely run over and take priority over FNF.

Wow right to it I guess looks like Rigondeaux is gonna fight before the hour is scheduled to start.

I can't see this making it past the 2nd round, gawd Lara has fast hands.

Vasquez may be undersized-limited but looks strong/rugged

Lara better not make a habit of fighting down to his opponents activity level. That'll bite him in the ass someday.

There it is.

Not the best of stoppages but Lara was raking him.Was good that he got some rounds...Vasquez caught him a few after feeling his power early.

Wow this Lara kat throws some beautiful combos; lovin' that uppercut.

Kenny gets to show this endlessly.......and probaly will ;D

Floyd is funny.......He says why fight Mosley who lost to Cotto who lost to Margarito who lost to Mosley and none of them have beaten him.....Well how are they supposed to beat Floyd if they haven't been given the opportunity to fight him?;D

Honestly I thnk Williams would have been Floyd's kryptonite but that'll never happen.

Rigondeaux showed his skill set, but he needs an opponent to say anything.

GR earn himself a C for that effort

This guy needs some stiffer comp. in pretty quick order. I'd love to see I. Vasquez slap this kid around for a while:)
