Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
I know Im going back a few years, but this was a great fight between two great fighters. I remember thinking that the judges were a little bias because Manny was bloodied up. I remember after watching the fight a few times, I came up with the same result; 6 rounds a piece, a draw. Regardless, this fight only helped propel the status of both fighters. It would be one of Morales's biggest wins and his last one in a great career that was already one of the best in the era prior to that fight. And as we know, Manny would go to do great things and that fight marked the last time he lost. Even I had the fight a draw, I have absolutely no problem the verdict, Erik was the superior boxer throughout most of the rounds imo. Still on a round to round basis I had it 6-6. I havent watched the fight in a couple years now, but hearing Floyd say Pac was outboxed by Morales got me thinking about it.

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
It's been awhile. But last I scored it I had it 9 rounds to 3 for Morales. No way that fight was a draw. Only some of the real stupid Pac groupies score it that way. The less stupid ones actually admit the defeat.

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
Im definately not a Pac groupie lol I actually picked Oscar and Hatton to beat him...as embarassing as it is to admit. I guess Im a fan of his now, but its hard not to appreciate what hes done in is career. I was just thinking about the fight and I remembered how I scored it for some reason. At the time I definately wasnt a Pac fan. I was a fan of JMM and he had just drew with him a few fights before. I honestly wasnt pulling for either fighter, I just had it a draw. Like I said, not to take anything away from Morales, hes a Legend and I have no problem with the decision as it was close.

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
well it was a fight that was won by erik with 2 point difference on all 3 judges' scorecard. although i agree with the result, you can just score one round the other way and you would have your draw.
-
Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
I also had it a draw (6-6) but got no complain with the judges 7-5 scoring in favor of Erik... One swing round in the judges scorecard and it will be a draw (6-6)... Only PAC haters will score it 9-3 or worst for Morales... It's a very close fight and 9-3 is just ridiculous...

I wasn't talking about you. You alright. I know you ain't no groupie. I blame you scoring it a draw to heavy drug use.

I rest my case.

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
How the hell was that a draw? I don't think Morales dominated Pacquiao in the fight, but no way did Pacquiao deserve a draw in that fight. Even in the second fight I didn't Pacquiao ahead on the scorecards until quite late in the fight.

Well the fight was 4 years ago which would make me 21, so it would be the booze that wouldve impaired my judgement, but I stand by my scoring. I remember it pretty clearly. I agree with Saddoboxer that 9-3 is pretty ridiculous. 115-113 Morales is acceptable.

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
A few boxing journalist had it a draw. Pedro fernandez even have it a pac win. :D
Morales looks spectacular in rounds he won and still have his moments on rounds won by pacquiao that's why it looks convincing.
7 rounds to 5 is fine. get 1 round the other way and you have a draw. a draw doesnt sound insane IMO.
115-113 is the official decision. I have no problem with that.

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
Miron i agree with everything you said, dont agree with Fernandez that Pac won though either. Morales did look awesome in spots throughout the fight

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
I remember watching that fight and I knew it was close but I thought Pac lost that one. I might take another look but first looks are usually right more often than not.
-
Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
I had the fight 115-113 for Morales. I remember it being a close fight but Morales had it.
-
Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
At best I gave Pac 4 rounds in that fight.
I felt Erik dictated the fight, he was more in control.

I still haven't seen this fight, if anyone knows where I find a decent version please send me a PM.

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
I had Morales winning 7-5.

Fair scoring... You scored it like the 3 official judges 7-5 or 115-113 for Morales...

Very smart observation... Now everyone know that SweetPea scored it exactly the same with the official judges unlike BoomBoom (6-6), VD (9-3) , me (6-6) and many others who didn't score it 7-5... ;D

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
I had it 9 rounds to 3 for PAC :D
But Seriously, I didnt score the fight but I knew Morales should get the Win. Wouldn't complain of a draw but a Morales win was the right desicion.

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
Morales won with ease 8-4 from memory. The last round Eric got cocky and went south paw and Pac nearly knocked him out. That's when I knew he was very dangerous puncher.
By the time they fought for the second time Eric had already lost to Raheen and was on the slide and I had a feeling he may have got stopped by Pac. When it happened it was not a surprise.

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
115-113 morales, 113-112 marquez

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
i need shooting as never seen the fight:(
-
Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
eric clearly won this fight, unlike all the jmm should of won talk.
I had it 7-5 or 8-4 for eric, i knew pac lost when eric was still standing at the end of round 12.

agreed, i had the same score as the judges actually, but it could have easily been 116-112 if Morales hadn't clearly given away the final round, cause he did with the whole southpaw bit, at the time of the stoppage in the rematch, i believe i had Pacquiao ahead by one round, but it was still a competitive fight, no way that the 1st fight should have been a draw, although i had it 115-113, it sounds a lot closer than what it was, it was a CLEAR CUT win for Morales, not like the Pacquiao/Marquez fights

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
I remember Manny needed to score a knock out to win in late rounds.
Damn them socks!
;D

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
I had it 7-5 Morales. I thought he was awesome that night.

That was his excuse for the first Marquez fight. Against Morales it was the gloves fault.

Re: Did Anyone Else Score The 1st Pac-Morales Fight A Draw?
Either way he improved dramatically between both fights, he was way better in comparison to Marquez in their second fight, and he was a lot better in both his second and third fight against Morales.

How long did you follow morales? Eric went up to fight raheem and from the get go looked lazy, plus raheem is a style that could give anyone problems but imo if eric came in thinnking he was going to fight pac and not some guy who went down in weight and lost to Juarez, eric would of ko'ed raheem. I dont think eric was on the slide because he lost to raheem, he lost becuase he didn't come in the way he should of. Look at the last few rounds, eric began to fight how he should of fought from the get go. Even knocking raheem down fighting with one hand.
Eric imo is the most talented out of the great featherweights but he didn't have the right attitude sometimes.

i've been following Morales since right before the Zaragoza fight, so i've seen every fight of his that had any real importance in his career, and IMO he didn't look lazy, he looked off balance from the get go, and his feet were slightly uncoordinated, he would just lung in and get countered, he did manage to get his shit together A BIT in the rematch against Pacquiao, but still resorted to just lunging in with the right hand and got countered by a harder hitter, IMO if Raheem had any pop he would have stopped Morales as well, and we know that Raheem is not power puncher, similar to Hatton, Morales abused his chin for too long and the granite finally got a crack, his inability to walk through punches like he used to, against harder hitters than Raheem was already proof enough that he was on the slide
