Mosley: I want Pacman now!
WBA welterweight champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley announced today that he is ready to face Manny Pacquiao in the ring and is willing to meet at a catch-weight to make the fight happen. In a statement, Mosley said: “There are conflicting reports from the Pacquiao camp an upcoming fight between me and Manny Pacquiao. I want it to be known that I want to fight Pacquiao and I want to fight him now. I’m willing to meet at a catch weight to make that happen. I know this is what Freddie Roach wants as well, as he has previously stated this to press. I am the best fighter in boxing and I am ready to reclaim the title of number one pound-for-pound fighter.” Mosley last faced Antonio Margartio in January 2009 and delivered a ninth-round knockout. Pacquiao is coming off a second-round knock-out victory over Ricky Hatton in May.

Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
When was the last time Shane fought below 147? 10 odd years ago? He was at 154 for a while also.
His only hope is a catch of 145, any less than that is probably going to fuck him up.
-
Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
yep thats what i think. but mosley said it himself that he wants the catchweight. if the fight aint at 147 mosley loses to pac.
-
Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
This would be a phenomenal fight.

Yeah mate he has said it now, but now he is willing to fight Pac at a catchweight, will Pac and his team still want the fight:confused:
Has Mosley called their bluff?
-
Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
Somewhere Floyd is screaming at the walls :furious2:...;D.I think If Pac goes to Mosley and takes a catchweight....Shane is just to deep for him,a bridge too far for Manny.

Mosley has a smaller frame than say de la Hoya. I don't think he will have problems making weight.
-
Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
Depending on the catchweight, I can envision this looking a lot like Pac - ODH. If SSM comes down to 142 as Roach has previously demanded, he's fucked.
Flame away.
-
Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
If this fight happens I hope it happens at 147 for the title, NO CATCHWEIGHT NO EXCUSES when pac wins.

I'm with you there. If Pac beats Mosley at 147, he will deserve all the accolades he will receive, but I (and I'm sure many others) will give him very little credit for beating a weight-drained Mosley competing at a weight which he hasn't fought in many years.
-
Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
Mosely wants to retire with a BIG PAY DAY!! Fighting at a catch weight, he will lose alot of advantages and Pacquiao can then take an Old Mosely weight drained.
He wants to get paid a good cheque one last time. I don't blame him, but the two best pay days for him are against both Mayweather or Pacquiao. I think for him to get to Mayweather, he has to fight and Beat Cotto. Those are some big ifs and buts. Then Pacquiao also has to choose him.
If that happened, I would then figure Mayweather could perhaps fight Cotto, as he does have a list, or sit it out and await for the likely winner Pacquiao if it's at such a low weight. What they are clearly saying is, noway are they putting Pacquiao with a Welterweight who is still dangerous.

I 100% agree, if it does happen it should be at Welter otherwise...........well what's the point? I could have beaten a prime Tyson if the fight was at 180 lbs most probably, it would not have made me the heavyweight champion of the world though;D
-
Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
First off, I love Shane and all that he has done. He's beaten the odds and extended his career by shaming a club fighter with plaster fists. I think a fight with Pac will leave him on his feet, with pride, but with a loss.

Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
I would want pacman too if i were going through a divorce whose ex wife wants spouse and child support
i would also like the biggest purse there is esp since im alrdy 36 towarfds the end of my career..... =(
i really hope shane get this fight, cause if he doesnt the divorce is going to make him fight till hes like 40 sumthing

Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
If this fight is at 145, Shane has no excuses... its pretty much 147, by around 145-147 two pounds starts to not make a huge difference. I mean Mosley makes 147 pretty easily, and Roy Jones went down to 169 to fight Trinidad and looked fine when previously he had trouble making 175.
-
Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
hi, i'm new here. nways back to the topic, the pacman has a very good chance of beating mosley if the fight will be made at under 144 but if it will be on 147, mosley will have a great size advantage against pacman. this is gonna be a great fight if they will face each other. another classic match up

I just had a look on Boxrec and according to that Shane was a quarter pound from 146? I'm certain he was bang on the 147 limit.

Yeah,Mosley was exact at 147 at weighin last outing...and certainly a few more on the fight night 'unofficial' count.I think there is noooo way on Gods green earth he agrees to come in less.He may be 37 but he's no dummy.Pac will have to catchweight,or pack on the pounds himself.

ugh.... nope that ain't right! You must have read Margarito's weight. Mosley was 147.2 the first time he hit the scales, he came back after 10 minutes and hit the scales at exactly 147. I'm not sure but I think I read his re-hydrated weight was at 160. He could have pissed and dropped that 2 ounces.

I think he can officially make the weight but he'll have to def. retain that energy level...hes been loading up,looking to muscle up on shots in with Tony, especially Mayorga. Will be a muuuch higher speed level with Manny, but I still like Mosley big time.

No worries just happed to me the other day too.
I hope they are able to seal a deal sooner than later, I'm really tired of hearing Mayweather run his mouth.

DOesn't mean Mosley can't come in less. Mayweather weigehd more than Judah at the weigh in, and came in to the ring 4 pounds lighter I believe.

I don't think it's a case of 'he could' come in less, we know he could. The question is what effect will it have on Shane? I think it will be damaging to him

Mosley would be a fool to come in less than 147 on fight night,no way does that happen.Mayweather was still coming up with weight.Mosleys been in that neighborhood and higher for years now....and will want to retain size, strength, etc. but not duplicate Oscars zombie shuffle.

You can't Blame Pac for that. Pac doesn't need Mosley for Money or Legacy. Pac has a lot of option. This is Mosley Bargaining for a Pac fight. I think 144-145 will be fair. Pac's highest weigh-in was 142. So don't give an excuse if Pac KO Mosley at 145!! Mosley will still be bigger.

I know you can't blame Pac for it, it's Shane's choice if he chooses to fight Pac at a weight he will not be fully effective at.

Pacquiao has been coming into the ring about 148, even at a catch weight Mosley will have 10 pounds on Pacquiao in the ring. Without the catch weight Mosley has like what, 12 pounds easily.
Of these three, Mayweather, Mosley, and Cotto, Mosley is the fighter that gives Pacquiao the most trouble.

I think that's the whole thinking process behind Roach. Pacquiao is the P4P best fighter in the world. Mosley wants the fight with Pacquiao more than Pacquiao does. Mosley needs to come to him not the other way around. Pacquiao still has yet to weigh in as a true welterweight so I would think 145 catchweight would be the best scenario for this fight to happen.

Absolutely! Mayweather, Mosley, Cotto, would give Pacquiao HUGE trouble at 147. Those three are already settled into the weight class while Pacquiao is still naturally smaller than them. Even at 145, the catchweight I see these fights making sense at, they're still toss ups.

Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
BTW! Is anyone else upset that Mosley said these things and it basically lets Floyd slide? What was the whole point of Mosley reacting to the Floyd interview if he's only going to forget about it and chase a fight with Pacquiao? I really wanted to see Shane push a fight with Floyd...
-
Re: Mosley: I want Pacman now!
I think 2 things about Shane.
1. He really wants to fight the best opposition possible.
2. He wants to head off PBF who's going to go for a Pac fight and avoid him.
If Shane beats Pac, he's in the drivers seat and no excuses for PBF. If he doesn't fight him, clearly it's ducking. So it's a tactical move and a fight that makes sense. Very dangerous fight for both men. I gotta go with Shane on points. I think he outboxes Pac with a great strategy devised by Bhop and Nazim Richardson.
I don't think Pac can hurt Shane and Shane's handspeed is good enough to punch with Pac.

Naw... I think Mosley was just positioning himself for a bout with Mayweather, if a bout with Pacquiao doesn't materialize. "He wants only Mega fights".
Oh, I never meant to imply Mayweather and Cotto wouldn't give Pacquiao trouble. of course they do. What I was trying to emphasize is that Mosley gives Pacquiao the "most trouble" of the three.
