I'll vote after the catchweight is determined... Weeks ago on another thread, I pick Mosley over PAC at 147...;)
.
i got pac winning a UD. i think his in & out style is a bit too much for mosley he wont be standing in front of him taking shots like Margacheato did.
I'm goin Mosley assuming the catchweight is 144/5, but not with that much certainty. Personally if this is for a welterweight title I think it should be at 147 or not at all. No title at stake, then fine put a catchweight. Still, seems there's no guarantee it's done
Pacquiao UD for me. Don't think Mosley will cope with the pace with the weight drain, his age and the combinations Pac throws.
Just thinking out loud a little, if this fight does end up being fought for the welterweight title at a catch weight, how would future defenses work for Pac if he wins? Would all of his future defenses be negoiated at a catch weight or would he just vacate the title immediately after getting that seventh title?
Pacquiao will not fight Mosley if the Title is not on the line. I think the welterweight is on the line even in catch weight. 141 to 147 Ibs is the limit in welterweight.
Manny Pacquiao will go for the History book again if he won his 7th division title.
Can you imagine he will be the only boxer/fighter in the history to get
7th Division Title Champion and 4th lineal Champion.
Anyway who's holding the ring magazine belt at 147Ibs?
In my opinion the title is on the line. Pacquiao has only 2 to 3 fights left. So I think in case he won the title we will not defend it. Or in case scenario Pacquiao will fight Andre Berto after this at no catch weight in 147lbs because Manny have a chance against him without catch weight. And the last will be against Miguel Cotto.
If Pacquiao wins? I not telling he will win but he have a chance. You know Pacquiao - he is unbelievable and he always SHOCK the world. ;)
My hearts tells me Manny Pacquiao will win this fight but my brain tells me Mosley will win... I don't know. But the real deal is if Manny Pacquiao wins this one. The critics will say:
Oh Manny Pacquiao wins because his to old
or
Oh Shane Mosley is dehydrated!
or
Oh Shane Mosley is not in his prime anymore.
I sick and tired hearing this thing. No matter how many excuses the critics made. Manny Pacquiao is already an All Time Great. ;D;D;D In case this are the reasons why Pacquiao wins. Let Me say this to critics - SHAME ON YOU! Manny Pacquiao fought BIGGER opponents and you don't give a damn credit? SH*T :D What a as* Hole!
Totally agree.Divisions & Titles being proven pointless more and more.If they want to cling to that 0.9 % of relevance rather than validate that they are nothing but shiny trinkets and fees, fees, and more fee's...this should not be for a 147 title at catch weight.
Dont know the weight but I cannot see Mosley coming in less than 147...and Pac packing on and in 145 or so ?? I think Mosley turns him back.He still had the legs used wisely,is extremely solid, can bang with quick hands, and a boxing mind as sharp as a tack.No zombies here,no punching bags named Diaz wearing belts and no Hatton.Pac is coming off what...18,19 very one sided rounds while taking little to no contact... but will know he is in a deep and demanding battle here.Buckle up
Mosley is taking a risk by going down in weight.
It does make the fight fair though because Pacquiao is a natural 140 pounder.
I think Mosley has got this if he makes weight comfortably.
If the fight is made at less than 147, then it could be ODLH all over again and that would be pointless!!
If it's at 147 I think Shane will destroy him
I agree with you. If this fight is less than 145 then this will be a shell of Mosley. It may not be DLH-like but it will be a Mosley who will not be very effective. Roach wouldn't have it any other way. He knows that a boxer of that age and hasn't been that far in weight in about a decade will not be remotely himself on fight night. People don't realize how hard it is to get those last 1 or 2 pounds off. Even the first 10 are not only easier to get off than the last 1 or 2 but it is much easier. That last 2 pounds really are pain and suffering. Athletes in this field cut to the least weight they can be effective at and to push it a few more pounds begins to take away from your performance and ability. Lets be real here. Does anyone really think it is for any other reason why Roach wants a catch weight for Mosley or Cotto?
Floyd is making People put on Weight to fight him.
Pacquiao is asking people to loose weight to fight him.
What is going on???
Mosley is fine at 147 fighting natural 147lb'ers. If Pacquiao wants to fight Mosley then he should allow Mosley to fight at the 147 limit.
Boxing is such bollox these days its untrue :-\
just dont see why on earth the pacquiao would take this.
Shane Mosley is the smartest boxer in the middle/lower divisions and has already proven time and time again he can counter aggresive fighters by fighting off the back foot.
If shane can make weight and doesnt become an old man over night then i dont see how pacquiao can stop him which would be his only way to win the fight as he sure as hell aint outpointing mosley!
Shane won't become and old man over night, in boxing years he's is already methuselah. Everything is relative. He didn't look old against Margachito because he was methodical and slow as molasis. Against Pacquiao he'll look like he's slowed and people will blame it on the weight. Mosley will be overwhelmed by Pacquiao's speed and stamina of youth by comparison. What will make it this fight competitive is Shane's advantage in weight and ring savvy. Shane will not make it to the 11th round.
I agree, it's fucking crazy, a fight at a catchweight for a 147 title just makes no sense, greed is doing such huge damage to boxing it's actually changing it. The big draws are all making fights at weights they have no business at, convincing us it will still be entertaining and we pay to see yet another weight drained or undersized fighter get slaughtered.
Sad times
I while go with Shane Mosley and i dont think he while drain him self like Oscar Dela Hoya think he is to smart to let that happen to him.
Did not think he did so bad in rematch with Forrest and Wright was just plain bad match up but he want to know for sure but we will see. Think he trying to get and win all the big fights to make his spot in history. He going for it all because he was to be rember with the other sugars like Leonard and Robinson and we well see if he can get to that level of greatness.
People are calling Floyd for doing this aswell .Pac apart from Hatton fought an old De La Hoya and made him come down in weight,Is he hoping that Mosley will be the shot at that weight like Oscar was, either way its very smart not to fight them at there natural weight.
Yes and IT'S very dumb for Mosley NOT to fight at his natural weight.
It's all about the money. Mosley isn't going to be nearly as effective below 147, and I wouldn't be surprised if this was a repeat of the ODH fight. I won't give Pac much credit should he win, because I think it's an almost certain thing should Mosley be forced to come in at 144, which sucks because I really think Pac could beat him at 147.
if Mosely looses and doesn't look dehydrated then why would people say he was dehydrated?
if he is dehydrated there will be a sharp contrast between his sharpness and stamina compared to his last fight. We will be able to tell... we wouldn't just make it up because we don't like pac (Everybody likes Pac... though some of his fanboy nut hugging fans are irratating and make you want him to lose just to shut them up... which is unfair on pac)
I just read press releases that this fight has yet to be a "done" deal, contrary to what we already are discussing here plenty. The same report likewise indicated that the Mosely camp may have exercised misleading the press, in indicating the certainty of this fight.
The PacMan tho' has not rejected the possibilty of a fight with SS Mosely, nor validated the veracity of theses initial reports, nevertheless he left this task to the promotional/training arm of his group.
However as of today, any of that sort has yet to be official. Last word was that Bob Arum, his promotional outfit, denied any such deals had been made, and any such fight as officially "on".
So... not so fast, Shane.
Just to clarify, this is a welterweight title fight at a lower catchweight
huh, well the just proves that even if PAC wins the "welterweight" title, he has no intention of keeping it. Unless maybe he fights a few lower tier fighters at 147.
Delusions of grandeur for PAC it sounds like.
Yeah, its getting pretty obnoxious.Frankly...Mosleys a dope if he drops below 147....Pac should have to make the weight to stake the claim. These name affairs are ever increasing.I do think it will be a nice fight, but Mosley should compromise nothing in his existing advantages.
Why does Pacquaio have to move up?
Mosley was the one who really got this ball rolling after all. He wants it.
You could just as easily say Mosley was picking on a smaller guy but that goes against the grain around here these days. I've got nothing but respect for Mosley but the criticism of Pac around here is hilarious. A year ago or so he was fighting at 130 ffs.
why do these guys who claim to know boxing, moaning about the welterweight title.
The title can be up for grabs between the weights of 141 - 147. If the champion agree he'll fight at a catchweight between those pounds, then the title will be on the line.
Shane usually weigh ins right on the dot of 147, he himself believe a few pounds wouldn't be a problem. I think its 2 pounds less at 145 were they agreed on. If I remember correctly pac weighed in 142 for oscar, his only fight at 147 and shane has fought above welterweights. I would rather have the fight at 147 without catchweight cause I know some of these anti pac will discredit the win cause they dont understand the rules for boxing titles.
I think the catchweight is fair because pac hasn't settled in at any weight class above 130. he fought once at each of the three he came up to. Shane has been in with much bigger fighters then pac and shane has ko'ed those guys. Shane being Shane he knows that it would be fair to agree on a catchweight.
I think these guys just dont want pac at a shot of his 7th division title especially not the one shane is holding cuase that would be pacs 5th lineal title. Plus these guys have openly admitted misfortune wishes opon thee pacman, sad adults really :p
Rain quick question i still dont get how he had a lineal title at 112 because the ring is the one to keep track of it and they dont have him there. Its like saying that Leonard was a lineal titlest at 168 becasue there none listed at the time enless you have some source i am missing or somthing.
I see this fight going alot like Cotto vs Mosley accept more one sided. Cotto landed the crisper shots of the two and Pacquiao has quicker hands than Cotto. I dont see a knockout for either of them, but Pacquiao landing the cleaner and more volume of shots. If the little bit of weight loss doesn't effect Mosley for the worse than this will be a heck of a night! Like Freddie Roach said, when Pacquiao and Mosley step in the ring they come to fight, not just to win!
Doesn't look like this fight is that certain to happen
Roach: 'Mosley not on my radar'
I think Roach doesn't represent himself well at the end when he trys to compare the Oscar of 2000-2002 with the one Pacquiao beat. Shame as having met Roach I genuinely like the guy.
Mosley!!!
That article is lazy Journalism hearsay and the author puts in his disclaimer at the start.
"The conversation wasn’t complicated, Roach said. It went something like this:"
That Mosley visit to the wild card was Mosley's first approach to Roach on his campaign to land a fight with Pacquiao.
