Today, at No.5, Cavendish Square, London, Media gathered to hear of David Haye’s disappointment that he has had to pull out of the 20th June fight against Wladimir Klitschko due to injury.
Sat alongside trainer/manager Adam Booth, Haye confirmed that he sustained a back injury after shadow... Full Boxing Article here...
Re: David Haye: Press Conference
Call me paranoid but they never addressed what the "injury" was...they just said "back injury" that along with Setanta folding up and the FACT that David Haye hasn't found any class heavyweights just seems fishy to me....you don't talk that much shit and then get injured SHADDOW BOXING!!!!
This has to be THE FIRST shaddow boxing casualty ever in the history of the sport

Just what I was thinking
Re: David Haye: Press Conference
i never heard anybody injuring themself shadow boxing. wtf.
Re: David Haye: Press Conference
This is why VD and I are very cautious about crowning David Haye "The Next Big Thing in The Heavyweight Division"....he talks a ton of shit, he has not fought the toughest of opponents, and he injured himself shaddow boxing....he might as well have injured himself jerking off FFS!
I question his chin, his heart, his power, his defense, and most of all his intestinal fortitude, because it's easy to talk shit when you're not at risk of paying the price for it
Re: David Haye: Press Conference
The likelyhood is that it's because he's more than likely not going to get paid a penny for it.

He can't be warming up properly or something......maybe he slipped and fell over.....maybe he was poisoned with back spasm formula by a spy in his camp:ninja:
Re: David Haye: Press Conference
I find it hard to believe but it's not impossible.
Every time I've had a lay off from boxing and then sparred my lower back muscles have ached the next down from all of the slipping etc.
But that was when I'd had time out from the gym, I was still inshape and my boxing brain was still there so I thought I could get away with going straight back in. Thing is I was fit but I wasn't fight fit and that's the difference here - Haye is supposed to have been in camp and in fight shape and it wasn't sparring - it must have been some pretty intense shadow boxing!! ;)
Re: David Haye: Press Conference
Maybe haye was really shadow boxing while giving leftylee and smashup a piggy back ride at the same time.

Re: David Haye: Press Conference
I like David Haye but fuck you gotta really have a glass jaw to get knocked on your ass shadow boxing and then somehow throw a disc in your back getting back up...
Personally I think Haye was trying to pull an Ali vs. Liston 1 or Ali vs. Foreman, by faking an injury to delay the fight, then hoping Wladimir would get outta shape and never quite get back in tip top shape.
Ali did that twice.
And it worked.
Haye's stunt however backfired big time.

Re: David Haye: Press Conference
To think that people STILL think Haye can beat Wladimir....Wlad might have a chin problem, but he never got KO'd by his shaddow

Watch the fight dumbass and stop reading boxrec. Haye ran out of gas in that fight, he weren't out cold. Let's remember he only had 11 fights at the time when facing Thompson.

Carl was a banger ;)
but to be fair it was only Haye 9th or 10th fight... brave move by Haye at the time and he paid the price and it was stamina rather than power.
i think he'd pay the same price with both of the klits though IMO

Not denying Thompson could punch. But Haye never embarassed himself or went down like a sack of shit due to Thompson's power it was his stamina that cost him the fight.

seen the fight fanboy, and didn't disrespect you so keep your little lovey dovey feelings for Haye in check, Thompson did outlast Haye when it comes to stamina but he also rocked him plenty of times with clean shots, don't see how you can't still try to act like he's the man when he pussed out on the biggest fight of his career
Re: David Haye: Press Conference
Being that my sister is married to a Chiropractor and the fact im dealing with a similar kind of injury(not in my back but in my arm) let me break it down.
Pretty much I've been working on my arms doing pull ups every day i walk under my doorframe(I bought one of those pull up bars that you hang over a door frame)
Now my right arm was fine, for a while, i woke up saturday morning around 5, made some breakfast and went to sleep, when I woke up my right arm was in the most pain i had ever felt, it was right at my elbow the pain was and at the edge of it, and if I ever stretched it out it would burn and bring even more pain. So Naturally I called Rob(my sisters husband) he told me something like a repetitive something. But he gave me an example he said people work on their backs all the time and are fine but then can bend over to pick up a sheet of paper and their back will go out, and it wasn't the sheet of paper it was the accumulative things that had been building in the back and that small action was just all it took to send it over the edge.
So with that said, it's very possible that Haye's injury wasn't from shadow boxing, but that it was something that had been accumulatively building, and his shadow boxing was just enough to send it over the edge.
Just offering things from a different perspective but its very possible thats what happened injury-wise.
