Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
Does anyone really blame Haye for this or should he have just gone ahead with it?
‘He had a Setanta problem. He asked for the money up front and they wouldn’t pay him. I know that for a fact.’ However, Warren does not promote Haye........
Frank Warren: Haye pulled out due to money

Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
Frank is such a tit.. I swear he makes it his mission to make up as much shit possible about fighters that aren't signed to him or fighters that have recently broke off from him.. true or not, frank shouldn't be going around speaking this shit he has no proof of, especially not about a fellow brit.
Why don't you put a fucking sock in it frank...
-
Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
It all makes sense now but why bullshit about a bad back? It was going to be known eventually.
-
Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
I've always suspected this; can't blame Haye for not want to risk fighting Klitch for free.
-
Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
If he pulled his back fair enough and if he werent getting paid then same again cant blame him for pulling out and perhaps he said bad back because if he said because setanta werent paying him it would highlight the fact even more that they are done for. But if i was David i would have fought for free because if he had won which i believe he would it would open so many financial doors so he would win all round.

LOL and if he lost?????
Come on dude! Think about it

Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
I'd bet millions that Warren knows the score and it is fact;)

I can't see why he would say it if it was not true, with Setanta going down and all I can't see why anyone would doubt it at the moment.

Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
Doesn't matter, Haye pulled out for whatever reason, they (Haye/Haye's fans/Steve Bunce) bitched and moaned about Wlad not delaying the fight to accomodate Haye but if money is the case, then we would still be waiting for a date for this fight to happen because to my knowledge David Haye hasn't found another backer yet.
This is all moot whether it was his back or his wallet because the fight didn't happen, it didn't get rescheduled, and it wasn't Wladimir's fault.

Exactly.
Haye did the riight thing in pullin g out if he wasn't getting paid, to to hear him and Booth trying to pin it on Wlad for not waiting is pretty shit.

This is the same Warren who said Haye will get knocked out.
Haye who isn't signed to him & no case of sour grapes at all.
Would Warren have his fighter box and not get paid? Oh wait hang on there's this fellow called Joe from Wales who would like to chip in.....

Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
We all knew this was the case from the off. It was a hand injury for a few minutes.
To be fair the Setanta thing was up in the air so Haye was in no position to be brutally honest.

I agree, what was he to do, just a crappy place to be at. No one would have fought for free NO ONE! Haye probably had a case of Redass and was frustrated that Wlad wouldnt cooperate with his time line

Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
I find this amusing. So he wasn't going to get paid heh? How much did Buster Douglas get paid for the Tyson fight? When he beat Mike he then had a 25 million dollar payday for the fight with Holyfield. So why not fight Wlad for peanuts if he is so sure he would beat Wlad. Fight Vitali in his next bout for a heavyweight championship and make 6 times as much as what he made against Wlad. I would like to know what was Haye going to get for his fight with Wlad? I find it amusing didn't Sander's fight Wlad for $25,000.

Ok so when you go to work today and make $20 an hour, your boss pulls you aside and says FIGHTFAN, we are having some problems here at work were going to have to ask you to work for free this week buddy.
So Fightfan are you going to put in a 40 hour workweek for nothing or are you going to develop a cough all of a sudden? Dont answer I'll mail you out some cough drops.
Douglas and Tyson was not a mega event of this magnitude. Wlad couldnt draw 61k people on his own. It was Haye and his fanfare. Also Haye already bit the bullet fighting Wlad, since it was reported by many sources that Haye's cut was an insult not to mention Haye was getting nothing from the arena gate or German TV.
Can you blame the guy for wavering when his last bastian of income in this fight wasnt going to pay him. Gimme a break already:rolleyes:
All those advocating he fight for free, who was going to pay the promoter, manager and trainer then?
-
Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
Haye should have pulled out and given legitimate reasons for what he did. The bad back just makes him look like a bare faced liar.
Good luck to him on fighting his way up to another shot. It will probably take a while.
-
Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
Say what you want about Haye but nobody's fighting for nothing these days when you're at that level, lets at least leave la la land and return to planet earth.

Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
When a fight is made, particularly one featuring fighters and promoters from two different countries, a contract between the promoters and a special bank account hold the revenues from the fight and dictate how the money is shared out after the fight. The special bank account is called an escrow account and is nominally controlled by a third party, normally a lawyer who has no connection to the various people/companies involed in the promotion. The money that TV companies like Setanta pay to show the fight is paid up front into this escrow account, and the contract governing the account dictates how the money is to be paid out after the fight. Or if the fight is cancelled it mandates repayment of the money back to the TV companies. So the Setanta money was already sitting in a bank account out of the reach of Setanta and Haye when the fight contract was signed. All Haye had to do to get it was turn up and fight. There was no reason for Haye to ask to be paid upfront and he'd happily signed a contract that paid him after the fight. There was no way that, had the fight gone ahead, that he wouldn't have been paid.
Don't forget Warren is involved in a lawsuit with Setanta after he unilaterally opted out of his contract with them and went back to Sky. Now that Setanta have gone bust the administrators running Setanta will drop the case so Warren just taking advantage of the situation to badmouth a rival promoter now that there'll be no legal consequences to running his mouth. The whole story is total bs, it's just Frank doing his thing.

Usually when a business is going under there has been lawsuits and creditors already barking. That money could have been freezed etc.
You never know, I mean how many times does a big network fold like this?

Under bankrupy law there are levels of creditor seniority and laws over existing contractual obligations from the firms that went bankrupt. Anything that Setanta already paid out under a contract as part of the business would be safe even from senior creditors. Once it's been paid out it's been paid out, creditors only get a share of whatever assets remain in the business.

The reason Haye didnt fight Wlad is Haye knew he was going to get beat down. I agree with what you are saying, if Haye was so confident he could win he should have just taken the fight and fought for whatever, he would have gotten paid something....Than his next few fights he would have made MiLLIONS....Now he is in a far riskier position. Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
I also do remember Wlad vs Chagev drew 60,000 people. Not Haye and Wlad sure those ticket's were for that fight but why the hell would they still show up and not get a refund in which they were entitled too?

The point is you need motivation when you fight, sure of course beating Wladimir Klitschko and getting the belt is motivational. But not getting paid for it ? im sorry but i wouldn't either, all that training and getting up early. Yet i don't get paid a dime ? no way in hell, im not saying its Wladimir Klitschko's fault, but come on bro.

LOL how is that even comparable, you're guaranteed extra money for the next week, if Haye loses then he fought for free and got nothing.
This is insane, if you think he pussed out that's one thing but no elite boxer is going to fight for free. If you told an elite professional boxer that you thought Haye should fight for free he would laugh in your face, Wlad would laugh in your face. That's not how it works, this whole idea is absolutely laughable.

Life is full of risks and many successful people have taken calculated risks to get to where they are. Per David Haye this was going to be the easiest fight of his career so why not take it KO Wlad and make millions in his next few fights......hmmmm...let me see....ummmmm....Wait..I Know...I know......::::

Yea because no boxer has ever said this is going to be there easiest fight, to hype up a fight. Please are you reading what your saying ? most boxers say this is going to be an easy fight and ETC.
Thats all a part of the game regarding boxing, thats exactly why Bernard Hopkins said the white boy comment to Joe Calzaghe. To put asses in seats.
As i said its easy for you to say that David Haye should fight for nothing, when your comfortably sitting in your seat. But when you've trained your ass off for weeks on end.
Only to find out you won't be getting paid in a high risk fight, i don't think you would want to fight either. Regardless of what David Haye says or any boxer, about this being an easy fight or whatever. You take that with a pinch of salt.
Your only taking that out on context because your a fan of Wladimir Klitschko, i think David Haye knows this will be a very tough fight for him style wise. Which is why he wouldn't be stupid enough to fight for nothing end of.
-
Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
Not to mention the promotion of the fight, the press conferences all the hype and fanfare Haye invested not to mention Haye brought more attention to the Heavyweight division than its seen since Lennox Lewis was fighting.
You expect Haye after all that to step in the ring and fight a guy that was getting his slices of the German gate as well as the German TV revenue and getting his regular paycheck?
While Haye fights for crumbs. No matter what these fighters say this is a job and away to provide for themselves and family. Everytime they step into the ring its a risk no matter the opponent.
You guys that are saying he should fight for free would be the 1st to say how Stupid David Haye was if he stepped in the ring for $0 and got a career ending injury.
Turds!
-
Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
WHOA WHOA I never said fight for free. How much was he making for that fight? How many people like me "sitting in my seat" would jump at any opportunity to fight Wladimir for even $25,000 I would do it in a heartbeat. I never said Haye to fight for free. You guy's are making it out like he wasn't getting a paycheck and I can assure he was. He probably thought he wasn't getting enough to get his ass kicked and simply live of the dividend's on whatever he got paid for the rest of his life. Shit whatever he was offered I would definetly take it. Enter stage left Chagaev. Most likely he got paid less money than Haye would have and still went through with it.
-
Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
Boxing is a job for these guys, its a business. No boxer with a name out there is going to fight for free. And considering that this is one of the most dangerous sports out there where you can lose your life or come away with significant injuries to your body, it's just ridiculous to suggest a guy fights for free.

That's nonsense; Haye fought Barrett in his own backyard and barely drew 5000. Wlad is massive in Germany. So, yes, the vast majority of the 61,000 came to see Wlad.

Come on dude! Think about it
I had already said i didnt blame him for pulling out but he hasnt fought since 15th November 2008 maybe he should have took the gamble. And its obvious Setanta had no future and were going bang if he was pulling out for that reason so perhaps he could have gone to sky for his financial backing being they bought the fight with Chagaev anyway just a thought. Also he just needs to hurry up and fight if he waits till september October for Vitali he won't have fought for 10-11 month this is'nt good Im a massive Haye fan but its time to stop talking and just fight.

Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
To answer the question at the top of the thread, I honestly think that Haye has more of a chance against Wlad than anyone else around in todays lacklustre HW divison and had he took the fight and won without any pay he would have still set himself up for huge paydays.
But I wouldn't go to work if I wasn't going to get paid and really why should anyone? Haye signed a contract that was surprising to say the least, with all the rematch clauses and then not to get any money on top of that would have been a disgrace! So I think he was right to pull out although I was disappointed at first.

So Haye is the most dangerous fighter at heavyweight outside the Klitschko's...based on what??? David Haye has only proven that he can talk more at heavyweight than at cruiserweight.
As for his pulling out, why make up an injury??? Wlad is a nice guy, he's a smart guy why not just tell his management about Setanta's issues and try and renegotiate???? OH wait a second, they didn't do that because they were very difficult in negotiating the original contract.

But I wouldn't go to work if I wasn't going to get paid and really why should anyone? Was Setanta's troubles announced by then? If not, there is your answer.
Name a more dangerous heavyweight than Haye, or two if you can.

everyones saying that he shouldnt fight for free because he might lose well if he's so sure he's going to win then what's the problem?
he should have fought for the glory and the fans. he would have got paid from setanta, they would have been legally obliged to pay him even if he had to take them to court. and he would now be world heavy weight champ and be able to comand millions of dollars worth of fights.
the only reason he pulled out was because he wasnt convinced he could win it after all that trash talk.
im really hoping he can get a rematch and vladamir knocks him out
If they have no money to trade and pay their bills what good would that do? Sue someone with no money?
He was probably hoping the fight would be postponed rather than someone else step in to his shoes, who knows.
Chagaev had/has more of a claim in fighting for the title than Haye did!

They're both named Klitschko

Re: Frank Warren - "Haye pulled out due to money"
How thick must you be to think a pro fighter should fight for free?
Do you morons realise fighters have expenses - training, travel, manager, trainer, sparring partners, etc.. who the fuck pays for all that if Haye is getting nothing? Fucks sake
