A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
Juan Manuel Lopez fighting Olivier Lonthchi on a Top Rank PPV, Victor Ortiz fighting Marcos Rene Maidana on HBO and Jorge Linares fighting Josafat Perez on telemundo or telefutura or whatever.
there's a potential for three blowouts (Linares probably should get his guy out with ease) but its still good to see all three guys on one weekend.
For some reason I see this Lontchi guy going the distance (supposed to be a mover and he might stink it out a bit)but a JML win, Ortiz KO's Maidana in the best fight of the weekend, and Linares by stoppage too.
Oh, and now that I think about it Daniel Jacobs is fighting in the main event of Friday Night Fights so I guess you can include him too.

Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
actually, forget that, JuanMa by stoppage
-
Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
All of them win by KO except Ortiz who I think comfortably beats Maidana on points
-
Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
Ortiz/Maidana will be the fight of the weekend. Maidana is a very real threat, who should still be undefeated.

Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
I'm watching Linares last fight on youtube right now. Man, there aren't many people that throw combos like him. Especially when he starts throwing body combos.
But he's pretty hittable. Just moving straight back is too much a part of his defense.
A phenomenal offensive fighter though. Hopefully he clears up some defensive issues or has a good chin.

Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
I will be in Atlantic City for Juanma's fight. Originally this fight card was a great one, but due to injuries, most of the good fights have been postponed. Anyway, I bought tickets just to see Lopez, so I guess it doesn't matter. I would really love to see Lopez's next three fights after this one against Lontchi be in the following order: Vazquez, Caballero, Gamboa.

Linares is one of my favorite fighters at the moment. His absolute destruction of Larios was something to marvel at. Like you have already said his combinations are incredible. I posted up some videos a bit back of him sparring and some of his training, pretty cool stuff. I think he will be a p4p contender

Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
FNF is packing them in too with Jacobs, Lara, Wilder and Hylon Williams Jr.

Linares one of my faves; agreed with your analysis of him. Hope I an watch this fight against Perez.
Good stuff this weekend.

I think he's going to fight in mid-July, to be honest I won't be paying much attention to him for a while, can't see him fighting any live bodies in the near future.

Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
Looks like a lot no doubt.Ortiz stands a chance to breakout in a huge way.......but for the love of god pleeeeeease tell me that HBO is not airing the Craig McEwan fight as a co-feature.Ugh
Mighty Mike Arnaoutis and Enrique Ornelus making comeback go's.....Mike oliver has a fight too:shinner::shinner:
Real disapointed that the Montiel vs.Morel fight fell through on Latin Fury card but we still have Yuri Foreman vs. K-9 Bundrage....yippy;D.Actually.I want to see that one.

Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
No love for Steve Molitor's comeback fight? :p
That was a joke.
I know he got schooled, but I still think he has a lot of promise. If anyone's interested, it's on TSN at 7:30 tomorrow night. I'll probably still be at work, so I might not be able to see it.

Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
Why is the Lopez fight on PPV??? Why is there even a PPV card for young fighters. Isnt that what Boxers After Dark is? Couldnt HBO buy out a timeslot like they were gonna use for the Klitschko fight and air these guys instead?
-
Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
Why the hell is linares constantly fighting bums?
He destroyed larios 2 years ago and hasnt had a half decent opponent in the ring with him since. Theres too much talent at 130-135 for linares to be scrapping it out with these kind of opponents.
Would love to of seen this bumped up to main event with possibly a gamboa or soto up against him.....heck even juarez would be a step up from what he is currently up against.
Hope maidana comes to fight because if he does im gonna have him to take victor out late on!!
Linares in 3
Maidana in 11

Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
Alright, I need this work day to pass as quickly as possible. My day goes as follows
1) wake up
2) go to work
3) play on Saddoboxing.com all day at work.
4) come home from work
5) alternate between FNR4 and Saddoboxing.com
6) alternate between FNF and Saddoboxing.com
7) Read my book
8) Sleep
And it was good.

Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend

Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
Thinking 19 might be a bit young to call yourself Iron Man, maybe you should prove how tough you are first.
Looking forward to seeing Wilder for the first time as a pro (I think), he's young and in shape, two oddities for American heavyweights. And he's from one of my hometowns.

Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
I like this Charlo kid; I can't place who he reminds me of:confused:

Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
Shame the Lopez-Lontchi PPV fell apart a bit, Alvarado/Malignaggi and Montiel/Morel wasn't a bad undercard.
-
Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
Yikes Yuri Foreman vs Cornelius Bundrage :(
-
Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
Foreman needs to stop jack-a-loping around; he hurt K-9 and he wants to jump around like an idiot.
-
Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
Damn I didn't realize he got his eye busted open like that; my link is fuzzy as hell. That sucks though it got stopped; probably good call though.
-
Re: A lot of young stars fighting this weekend
kind of a slow night on here. I know there's no mega fight but its a pretty solid night of boxing with JuanMa, Ortiz and Linares.
And Jorge Arce I guess. :-\
