Abraham-Oral on Showtime!
IBF middleweight champion “King’’ Arthur Abraham puts his undefeated record and title on the line against world-ranked Mahir “Lion” Oral in a special Saturday primetime edition of ShoBox: The New Generation, on June 27, 2009, on SHOWTIME® at 9 p.m. ET/PT (same day, tape delay). The site of the scheduled 12-round world championship fight is Abraham’s hometown of Berlin, Germany, and will take place at the Max-Schmeling Halle.
In his only fight in the United States, just over a year ago, Abraham made his debut on SHOWTIME with a fourth-round TKO over Edison Miranda in Hollywood, Fla. It was a rematch of their previous bout on Sept. 23, 2006, in Wetzlar, Germany, in which Abraham won a controversial 12-round unanimous decision to give Miranda his first loss in 26 fights. It was Abraham’s third IBF title defense.
Abraham, 29, enters the June 27 fight—his ninth IBF title defense—with a 29-0 record (23 KOs) while Oral is 25-1-2 (10 KOs). Sauerland Events will promote the fight.
In his last start on March 14, the aggressive-minded, hard-hitting Abraham successfully defended his crown with a 12-round decision against Lajuan Simon in Kiel, Germany.
A former sparring partner of the defending champion, Oral is a German boxer of Turkish descent who has won his last 18 fights. The 6-foot-1, 29-year-old fights out of Hamburg, Germany, and, like Abraham, has fought the majority of his fights in Germany. Unbeaten since March 2004, he is a skilled, well-conditioned, quick-handed boxer with nice moves who throws a variety of combinations. In his last outing, he recorded an eighth-round TKO over Alexander Sipos on Nov. 18, 2008, in Cuxhaven, Germany.
Said Oral’s manager Ahmet Öner: “Many others in the middleweight division are avoiding Arthur because they don’t think they have any chance against him, but I told Mahir that he has nothing to lose. Should he actually be beaten, then it will be against the strongest ever world champion in his weight division. And that is Arthur Abraham. So we have nothing to lose.
Oral has captured several minor belts, but this is his first opportunity at a world title. He has campaigned at or around 160 pounds since turning pro on March 4, 2000. His only losses came between March 2003 and March 2004 when he followed back-to-back draws with the only defeat in his career.

Its not AA fault that neither Pavlik nor Sturm want to fight him...for a fight in the US AA would need a known opponent and who would that be ?!?

Re: Abraham-Oral on Showtime!
First we have Teddy Atlas' pre-fight anal, and now we have this. What is the world coming to. Disgusting.

Vernon Forrest or Paul Williams would be a great start.

Pavlik (or, more accurately, Arum) has been ducking him. No one wants to fight the guy.

Re: Abraham-Oral on Showtime!
The live fight is just about to start, anyone else watching it besides me?
I don't want to be talking by myself in here. ;D

Re: Abraham-Oral on Showtime!
2nd round, had a couple good combinations by Abraham, but still kind of boring.
Hmmm, I think I'll stop talking since I think I'm flying solo here, and I don't want to ruin it for those who will watch it on tape delay tonight. ;)

Abraham just stopped him. I have no idea what round it was, but Oral was down three times (twice from body shots) in the first half of the round and his corner stopped it.

Re: Abraham-Oral on Showtime!
Abraham needs to stop inflicting such horror on boxing viewers. Pure evil.

Re: Abraham-Oral on Showtime!- SPOILERS
Maybe this title should have a spoiler warning on it, as they're showing it on Showtime later.

We were made Mods because of our debonair good looks, not our reading comprehension.

Re: Abraham-Oral on Showtime! SPOILERS
For a fight that has had so many knockdowns this sure is a snoozefest. Between the boring, zombie crowd; the old hag interpreter with 1 1/2 feet in the grave and Arthur's seeming content to make this an all night affair when this fight should have been over before 7 rounds, it's been dismal at best.
Finally it's over.

Re: Abraham-Oral on Showtime! SPOILERS
I for the life of me don't know why Abraham takes so long. Hard to tell how good dude is till he fights an opponet worth a shit. Against who he's been in with though he looks like the real deal he'll even his bro got some shots in vs Miranda so he's ready. I'd pay to see him fight pavlik even though I'm pretty much leaning towards PAV to win
-
Re: Abraham-Oral on Showtime! SPOILERS
Think that Pavlik could win simple on workrate based on what i have seen.

Re: Abraham-Oral on Showtime! SPOILERS
Well...if AA doesn't get a "big" fight against Sturm or Pavlik next then this was his last fight at middleweight...again AA had to loose nearly 20 pounds in the last 2 weeks before the fight(I guess thats why he fights so sluggish and only in bursts) and team AA suggested before and after the fight that this was most probably his last fight at middle and he will go up to supermiddle...
