Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
A pair of great fights on here.
Hall vs Small looks like it could be great & I get the impression that if Small can last beyond the first few rounds, he will take it, as I think he's got into his head. Hall is a tough customer though & wouldn't be surprised if he gets him out early, but I reckon he may do too much too soon.
Also on there is Kell Brook vs Michael Lomax. This will be the first real test for Brook since McIntyre & arguably greater. It should offer a good indication of how far he can go as Lomax is a difficult fighter, particularly due to his height & I reckon this is actually a pretty good undercard, although not quite as good as the Khan-Barrera one.
I'd like to have seen Maccarinelli take on Ola again, because Ola has been kinda frozen out since beating him as none of Ramirez or Tokarev want to give him a shot.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
Yeah its gonna be an amazing night of boxing and i cant wait! Im picking Anthony Small to outpoint Matthew Hall in a tough fan friendly fight and think Kell Brook will be much too fast and accurate for Michael Lomax, possibly stopping him in the middle to late rounds.

I think it will be the other way round if anything in the Hall fight, I think Small will get stopped around the 8th 9th, Hall imo will walk him down, can i ask mate in what way do you think he has got in his head?
I think Brook is a couple of levels above the likes of Lpomax who was soundly beaton by Craig Watson.

I just feel Hall wants to beat the shit out of him a bit too much & will go after him & if Anthony can get through the first couple of rounds then I think he can either take him out late or win on points in a close fight. I know its a comparison Small brought up in a different way, & in talent its not applicable, but Hall is reminding me of Hatton before the Mayweather fight. I actually think both guys are talented enough to go beyond British level & worthy of challenging for a world title, if not winning it. It helps that the LMW div is a bit sparse right now

Is Enzo still boxing on the undercard at all?:p

Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
He's against Lebedev(sp?) isn't he?
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
Watching this in the pub what time is it due to start?

Correct and correct spelling too. I see Enzo losing another one here. I think Frank is giving up on Enzo now, and he's feeding Lebedev his first test. Real crossroads fight here.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
I'm on a stag do this weekend (who thought this was a good weekend?!?!?) so not sure I'll get around to watching any of it, but some very good looking support bouts there.
I think Small will have the measure of Hall, Small was unlucky in his defeat, he seemed to be trying to outmacho Pryce and show he could take the punches, and the ref stopped it cause he wasn't throwing back. Stupid tactic, and a big setback for him, but I reckon he'll be British champion come Saturday.
As for Brook v Lomax, as has been mentioned above I reckon Brook is too good for Lomax, and although his reach will give him some advantage, Brook will get in and land the heavy shots.
In terms of Enzo, I hope he gets the job done. Lebedev's been lined up for him for a year or so now, not sure if it's Warren getting in on the Russian market or if he's a fight tailor-made for Enzo.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
I know Hall has improved since the Concepcion loss but i can't get away from it. I think Small might be too tricky and considering he is the underdog and i don't see the fight going the distance ive backed him for the KO. Should be a cracker.
I think Brook will handle Lomax fairly comfortably. Brook is a massive favourite with the bookies. I think he'll win between rounds 5-8.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
Anyone know the running order?
According to Sky's adverts they are showing Hall-Small and the poxy Olympian bridle jobs before Khan.. so no Brook-LOmax or Enzo fight live...
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
I agree Fenster. Lomax is a decent test, but Brook is a star in the making and I can see him walking through Lomax.
I like Matthew Hall alot, and I actually felt he'd KO Bradley Pryce. I do wonder though if Small might be a bit too clever and unorthadox for him. On the other hand, how will Small stand up to the power of Hall. If Pryce can hurt him, Hall definately has the power to. It's a real interesting fight.
What happened to Macklin being on this card?
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
Macklin has joined Hatton Promotions
He's fighting Darren Barker later in the year.. which will be an absolute cracker

Since when!? WTF, I thought he had the greatest promotor in the world in Frank Warren. At least thats what he said. What happened to that then?
I bet Darren sparks him.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
Just found out ITV will be showing some boxing so staying home and watching that instead. Save my self some money that way.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
Cleverly-McIntosh on ITV4 should be a good one. Even though Cleverly has looked impressive of late, and definitely looks the more polished fighter, McIntosh can bang a bit, so i reckon worth a couple of quid as he's a pretty big underdog.
I hope this fight is around 10pm, which should make it clash with the Olympian bridle jobs, so i can catch it live.

I think this will be enough to make a few people not bother paying for the box office, not sure if I'm going to be able to catch it myself, but agree that Cleverly should be the favourite here, and McIntosh should give his chin a test, more than some of the weaker fighters he's faced recently.

In cleverly and brook you have the 2 best prospects in the country fighting on the same night.
Would urge anyone that hasnt yet managed to get a look at cleverly to get itv4 on saturday night as he is a real prospect and definite world champ in the making.
Will be spending my saturday evening watching the itv4 card which i believe also has thaxton and fury on it as well and catching the khan fight on the internet.

Yeah, I'm backin Smallie as well. Have to give them credit though they've created more excitement for a British title fight than I can remember in a while.
Hall's best line
"I'm gonna strangle you with that bloody belt"
Small's
"I'm fighting a man who can't string two words together... go on Matthew give it a try" Hall sits silent "See proves my point"

Quality.
Hall looks too fired up in these press conferences... reminds me a bit of Anthony Farnell.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a Takaloo job.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
That is the best fight on the card and I see Small winning.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
Went down to the weigh in today was funny alot of banter between Halls fans and Small, i had a chat with Small really nice guy got alot of respect for him, had a good chat with Kevin Mitchell, my old mate Jennings and a few others. James De Gale really approachable nice bloke aswell. Im goona post the pics very soon on the main board.

I met Small in a gym once, he was a really nice bloke.
Glad he did the business tonight.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
Good win for Anthony Small, that last flurry was beautiful. He reminds me of a poor mans version of RJJ.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik Undercard
I knew Small was gonna do it tonight. Funny thing is I actually thought he had won the fight before he had got in the ring. He was calm, cool and relaxed while Hall seemed to want to rip his head off with what Small was saying pre-fight.

Not sure about that mate, did you see the weigh in Hall was very cool and didnt looked rattled at all, while Small was trying everything he could to get a reaction.
In reality Small just exposed Hall as being one dimensional, Small was impressive and I was very impressed I think Small should kick on now, im hearing some rumours that Jamie Morre could possibly be fighting Sergi Martinez on the Mayweather v JMM card, which would mean Moore vacatng the Euro title which surely mean Small has a crack at it, or possibly go for a rematch with Pryce which will probably happen as the light middleweight division is quite bare with talent at domestic level.
