You stay classy Brock Lesnar
People give me a hard time for not taking MMA seriously, well I just wanted to tell everyone that I watched UFC 100 all the way through and sometimes I liked what I saw and sometimes I didn't, but I respected that these guys are fighting using methods other than Boxing. The KO of Michael Bisping was extremely fun to watch, got to suck being a British fight fan these days first Ricky Hatton gets his lights turned out, then Michael Bisping got flattened, and next David Haye ;). But then along comes the heavyweight fight and I remember, Brock Lesnar is everything I despise about MMA, bad tatoos (namely a sword with brass knuckles as the handle on his chest and a baboon skull with spikes sticking out on his back....quality), horrible attitude, terrible personality...but I give him the benefit of the doubt, until his post fight interview.
:shakehead:
Memorable quotes from Fighter/Philosopher Brock Lesnar (after he gave everyone two middle fingers):
"I'm gonna go have a Kewar's(that's the way he said it, I think he meant Coors) Light, because Bud Light don't pay me nothin"
"I may climb on top of my wife later on tonight"
....after hearing that interview I fully expected Stone Cold Steve Austin, hidden in the crowd until the end of the fight, jumps into the Octagon with a folding chair and then blasts Lesnar across the face with it.
Even Dana White was pissed about Lesnar's attitude...which kind of makes Dana a huge fucking hypocrit, but anyway. I just wanted to remind you guys that personalities like Brock Lesnar that play to the lowest common denominator make me happy that I am a boxing fan....I wish Ray Mercer would KO Brock's sorry ass

Agreed. The guy is a tool; though I guess he is going to embrace the bad boy role, but comes off being more circus sideshow in appearance than say a Floyd Mayweather type that you can still take seriously.
The card was ok; I wish for the $$$ they would show all the prelim fights as they are sometimes the best; but oh well.
And watching Bisping get almost killed was worth the $50 alone; I was doing cartwheels around the house. Way too many have taken Dan Henderson's very laid back, almost borderline slow and stupid persona, as him being a dud. Bisping got what he asked for; and though Henderson was kind of dumb to tell everyone he knew he was knocked out when he hit him again, it was still legal: unitl the ref stops you you keep fighting. I hope Bisping enjoys havng his jaw wired up like a bear trap and feeding off spoonfuls of Gerber baby food while pondering his stupidity. I always knew he was hype and made an amateurish mistake continuing to circle into that right hand. Dan hits hard;D The Octagon probably has a dent where Bisping's head was smashed:lolhaha: I keep watching it over and over lmao.

Also, GSP's corner was HILARIOUS...very Canadian corner appreciating everything GSP did and being very nice and gentle with their comments hahaha

Re: You stay classy Brock Lesnar
Lesnar was so "WWE" it was painful - did enjoy UFC 100 though

Re: You stay classy Brock Lesnar
It's ironic; I used to be very much behind Bispin. He was never going to b world class; but he' solid most everywhere. It was not really so much his trash talking; 99% do it; but the way he was disrespectful to the Team USA fighters and acting more childish than they did. I had alot of respect fo Team UK and they came to fight; and were a good lesson in team "togetherness"; while the US needed therapy instead of a spot on a reality tv show; a bunch of sissy's. But Bisping turned me off and being confident is ne ting; being a jackass is another. I do hope he's ok really; but maybe next time he'll listen to his corner.

Re: You stay classy Brock Lesnar
That follow up punch was a jail time job. A complete disgrace. Not really Henderson's fault though, it's just the nature of that "sport"
And Lyle, Hatton is a cocky Brit? You plum, i'd LOVE it if Haye spanked out your hero.. sadly it'll be the other way round ;D
-
Re: You stay classy Brock Lesnar
I had a wedding I had to be at so I missed the fight. I think the important part Lyle is that not only did Lesnar get a strong scolding from White but he got booed by the fans. Most real MMA fans I know respect Brock's tremendous athleticism and his meteoric growth as a fighter, but can't stand his "persona".
-
Re: You stay classy Brock Lesnar
Yea Lesnar lost it for me with the post fight garbage. I actually, unlike many, was hoping to see him do well as I think he might make for interesting futher fights. But now, I could care less if he stepped in front of a bus tomorrow. I despise all things WWE, but atleast that is fake and acting. Well MMA isn't, and people go in there risking their life and limb with no script. But alas, he showed an utter lack of class and respect.
You can't fault a guy too much for jumping around and raising his arms after winning, I mean, the adrenaline along makes it near impossible to not be a bit over the top, but that was disgusting.

Re: You stay classy Brock Lesnar
And to the contrary Frank Mir was complete class in his interview I thought

He always is. People say Brock gave Mir what he deserved for running his mouth; but Borck started that a looong time ago and Mir got sick of it. I don't recall Mir ever trash talking an opponent before this Lesnar fight; could be wrong.

I agree with you on everything you said, once in a while I enjoy a MMA match, but boxing will still be king in my eyes, and Muay Thai kickboxing a close 2nd.

Yeah brock was a dick, i was kinda hoping hed get submitted. As for henderson, that follow up punch wasnt illegal and ive seen heaps of guys do it after a ko. Maybe not that big, but ive seen guys continue to pummel guys who are out cold until the ref stops them.

Looking at your Bruno Av, I think Sasha Baron Cohen is kicking himself for not getting Bruno to interview Brock Lesnar. ;D
Hopefully Crocop can bounce a kick off of that Ape's dome and drop him like the sack of shit he is.

That would be nice; though my bet is CroCop does't make it 2 minutes into round one. The guy is good at what he does but Lesnar will bury him. Even if it stayed on its feet Brock could probably knock him out with one of those anvil sized fists; chances are it goes to the ground quick and CroCop looks like he fell under a train. Fedor is the guy to beat him; chances of that happening aren't good though.

I thought Lesner was just hyped up , he lost it. But personally i dont give a crap what he says before or after his fights , all i know is he is one big mutha fucka , who will take some beating.

That's true; he is a big, solid, athletic, scary genetic mutant. They say he is a big deer hunter. I wonder if he shoots them or just ambushes them from the top of a tree and breaks their necks?;D
Oh and this is for you Lyle. I might use it for my sig; though no disrespect to the Brits on here in any way; most of you are top notch.:)

Legion I owe you some rep for that one. F@cking classic

Re: You stay classy Brock Lesnar
I knew Lyle would finally come around. MMA is entertaining for the most part. It doesn't replace boxing but it's a great addition for fight fans.
As far as Brock. Agreed on all counts. He made an ass of himself and even seemed to be performing like a pro wrestler, he took the mike from the announcer, kind of strutted around and interacted with the fans..... so WWF.
As for the fights. Good card, should have shown the prelims, at least on the replay part. But overall, UFC always has a great production, they keep the time between fights short, and keep the action flowing. They have the production end down and have an edge in that department from boxing shows. It's easier when you control the whole show as for boxing it's different promoters, etc. Just the tv crews are the only continuity from HBO, SHO etc.
Bisping getting sparked was classic. I kind of liked Bisping before this seasons show. He really came off badly in that show for me. I wanted him to lose just cause he was an ass. Henderson is amazing, fought everyone and won or did well in losing. Just a class act and tough s.o.b.

I think it's mostly an adrenalin thing. Henderson was just following through with that one and he said he knew he was out but, I doubt he really knew until the ref stopped him. You can't tell if someone is out while there still falling, and you could see he was surprised when Bisping was falling, he just pounced on him and followed up.

That's what I was telling my girlfriend; who thought it was barbaric to do that to Bisping{or anyone}. But you never know; he's put enough lights out with that right, and he must have known he made a solid connection on Bisping, so maybe he did know he was out;D Either way it was legal.
Bisping's post fight interview was funny; he was eating humble pie and said he was outclassed:bucktooth:

Oh he knew he was out....and it was still legal and very awesome

Seems to me Brock Lesnar looks like the type of guy who can dish it out, but can't take it...I think if Crocop uses the right plan he can school Lesnar easily....yes even though Crocop is washed up. Mirko has to weaken Brock's legs for the entire first round, move and kick those legs all round long, keep the distance and don't allow Brock to take him down because once he does that the fight is over. After round 1 Crocop can let a kick or 2 fly at Brock's head and hopefully his legs are too weak to dodge/block and attempt a takedown.
A couple of my friends are really into MMA, but I just don't think I'll ever be that into it or anything more than a casual fan if you could even call me that.....I do love that Bisping got KO'd, love to see the exact same thing happen to David Haye

Crop cop would be a very dangerous fight for Brock in stand up but as soon as it goes to the floor I dont see it lasting very long . Brock would do to him what he did to Mir and Herrings. Wear him down with his weight .
Cro Cops recent form isnt encouraging but if it were prime Cro cop then Id pick him to beat Brock in 1 round with a head kick

I must be one of a few who always though CroCop was, well not so much overhyped as one dimensional and robotic. Granted his kicks are devastating but his transition into the octagon was poor at best and he seems so predictable in his approach. And if he managed somehow to kick Brock in the head I'd think hs foot would explode; that's like kicking a moving bus;D

Bopp Sapp was even better built than Brock and Cro Cop put him away ina round.
Brock looks the type to gas just like Sapp and once the initial hype his over his career may go the same way .

That's true; got me there;D Sapp was a monster and I don't know how Cop could kick either one and not need a new foot:p But head size aside; Sapp wasn't the athlete Brock is, as far as explosiveness and speed.
I forget; what is the longest Brock has gone in a fight, now that you mention gassing? I'd definately have to think he would lose his tank before Fedor would, so the longer it goes easily the more favor has to go to Fedor's size{though Fedor will be sucking air after trying to keep that albino elephant off him} But I'd think if Fedor can stand that onslaught of the 1st round it would be his for the taking.

Brock went three full rounds vs Herring but the fight I saw him gassing in was against Cotoure. That was more of a stand up fight vs a 40+ year old light heavyweight but Brock stuck at it and one of his shots landed in the end .
He is defo a better athlete that Sapp who gassed after 30 seconds when his initial rush didnt work. But Brock is more cautious in his approach . He wont go all out and once he has you pinned on the floor he will take him time. His main priority is to not let you back up . Brocks best asset is that ground and pound but Fedor is like Nogueira in that he would happliy start a fight on his back because he is so dangerous in that position and may even choose to pull guard vs Brock.
Sapp vs Lesnar would be great for half a minute ;D

...well in Hatton's case it was more I liked seeing him get sparked because of his fans, unlike Bisping who did it all by himself, or when Naseem got slammed into the turnbuckle by MAB, sure Nas talked like a bad ass but when push came to shove turned out Hamed was nothing but a little b.i.t.c.h.
As for Brock Lesnar, he looks like the type of guy who doesn't appreciate getting hit, I think Crocop,(if he uses the correct strategy) can be very dangerous for Brock. Crocop isn't what he used to be but let's not get carried away with Brock he's had a couple fights and people have tried to out muscle him or get him on the gorund....it's going to take a stand up striker to beat him.

It was classless but well, the guy spent most of his life selling PPW on WWE where trash talk and creepy comments are the norm, he just has to get used to the fact that MMA is a whole different world than MacMahon's circus.

Agreed; old habits die har and that whole WWE circus-like atmosphere won't be disappearing anytime soon. He'll never be likable in the sense of a Couture or Mir or Nog; but some people do like it. that whole"I might even climb on top of my wife" thing was creepy; I felt sorry for her.

It was plainly disgusting, especially for her wife who was in attendance but I am almost certain the guy didn't mean it, he just has his brain Macmahonwashed, now he has had a reality check, a big one and I am sure he'll adjust to it... he doesn't really have the choice otherwise he'll get the boot or will be fined severely. Still... even in a WWE circus-like type of business, such comments are ... well... disgusting, especially because I have the mental image of that guy in bed with his girlfriend so smaller than him and it scares me.

Gotta tell you...... if you're comparing them to Zab Judah, Mayweather clan, Don King, and Larry Merchant..........
hmmmmmm don't know if there's a whole lot to poke fun.
Not liking people in the sport doesn't ruin the sport for me. If so there wouldn't be any I liked. Same with movies, etc. I can't stand Tom Cruise, but liked several of his movies. Hated Dion Sanders but watched tons of football games. Dennis Rodman, still watched the bulls games and celebrated there wins.
Boxing is the last sport I would pick to defend the integrity of based upon the moral character of it's stars.:-\
-
Re: You stay classy Brock Lesnar
The guys like Rogan, White, and Lesnar perpetuate an attitude that is associated with MMA...the boxing guys you mentioned aren't living the "boxing culture" because there isn't one, whereas UFC has been marketed and packaged by Dana White et al to create a MMA/UFC CULTURE, Affliction t-shirts, energy drinks, bad tattoos, GNC products, etc.....but I guess that is what being popular within the mainstream gets you.
That's just my view, but I think Floyd and Zab are more influenced by Hip Hop, Floyd's family has issues obviously, Don King is just an evil person, and Larry Merchant is a guy who is yearning for the golden years of boxing, he's not a bad person, in fact he's got more balls than Rogan who is shit scared of asking tough questions of fighters.
I do appreciate that UFC/MMA is trying to steer away from being an ATTITUDE and respect skill a bit more....that attitude will always be a part of the sport, but it doesn't need to be the first thing you see
-

knowing one of Lesnar's coaches all i can say is yes someone may beat him, the path to that victory won't be easy.i hope he acts beter in the future, but i am impressed with his ground and pound. also the ufc heavy wieghts are yawn uhm boring? at least here is a guy willing to be a heel and give you something.

A prime Minotauro could beat Lesnar, I'm sure of it.
Tons of athleticism, endurance, cardio and sublime jiu jitsu skills.
Damn I wish Nog was a little less removed from his Pride days

.....someone who can strike WILL BEAT Brock Lesnar, the key for fighters to understand is that when you hit Brock he's going to try and take you down and when that happens you side step and try and land again.
It's not going to be shocking to me when somebody beats Brock, I just want someone to have the guts to do it, right now he's getting too much respect from his opponents on account of his size and strength. Brock's chin is the chink in his armor, it's going to take someone with bravery to stand and deliver vs Brock.

Re: You stay classy Brock Lesnar
Lesnar is a joke, Dana allowing him in the UFC drops the respect level I have for Dana even lower. Name one dojo that promoted disrespect, but then again Dana handed him a non-existing belt and an instant contract in the UFC, most guys I know had to work for that. His day will come and then everyone will forget about him.
