Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I want Khan to win.
But i think Kotelnik is underrated, the best fighter Khan has faced so far (Barrera being a little fossil) and even though he doesn't have an agressive style, I can't see Khan getting through 12 rounds without getting caught.
So Kotelnik will win by KO.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I hope youre right but from what Ive seen of Kotelnik , he cant knock a guy out even when he is asking to be knocked out. He is very slow and although he may wobble and floor Khan in this fight, he isnt a finisher.
It will be frustrating to watch for the Khan haters and he will survive and rough patches to take the fight on points. Whether he deserves the decision or not he will get it.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I really don't have a rooting interest either way; best man win and all that.
Anyone think Prescott/Khan II will ever happen? You gotta think Khan woul like to at least attempt to avenge that loss. I'd be interested to see it again; though I would think his team doesn't want that anytime soon.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I think Khan will edge this one, but I still think don't think he will become a great world champion, just too chinny!
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I say Khan wins it on points. On the attack, Amir Khan is world class. On defence though, he is very amateurish. Kotelnik is fairly slow and methodical though, so I imagine Khan & Freddie have a strategy to box his head off all night.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I want Khan to lose because I'm still bitter about the Barrera charade. Kotelnik is a decent fighter, but he has an uphill task on his hands. He is not just taking on dribblemouth Khan but he is also taking on a Warren and Co. who will seemingly stop at nothing to get the result they want. We must prepare to protest any shady business. Khan getting a shot was shady enough. It's anyones guess how far the shadiness will go come fightnight.
Hopefully Kotelnik will play a little rough and get to Khan a fair bit. Otherwise we will have Khan poncing about throwing repetitive jabs and wildly innacurate 4-6 punch combinations in all kinds of bizarre directions. Meanwhile he will have that bizarre expression on his face that looks a bit like a chicken that has just laid an egg.
I cannot deal with that kind of shit really. Just knock the twat out Kotelnik!
Kotelnik by 9th round stoppage when Khan begins to slow down.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I'm a fan of Khan, therefore I want him to win, and I think he will with a wide UD decision. But who knows.. I don't think he's been up against anyone with Amir's speed before (correct me if i'm wrong) and it may open up some chunks in his defence.. Khan has decent power, and if it's not enough to knock Kotelnik down, Khan will just flurry until he forces a stoppage.
I'm convinced Khan's defense is alot better now. It was pretty solid against Barrera, I could only presume it's better still by now.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I've got Khan by close, maybe even controversial decision (would be pretty shocked if he stopped him, Kotelnik's not real athletic but he knows what he's doing).
And I want Amir to win. This isn't even close, who is more interesting for the future of boxing, Khan or Kotelnik. :cwm13: Plus I like any fighter that is wildly disliked by so many for reasons I can't quite figure out.

His defence was fantastic. Blind the opposition first! :-X

I'm actually quite split here.. will it be sweeter to win money on Kotelnik or to see so many grumbling haters gutted when Khan becomes "world" champion?
;D

Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I don't think you can buy that type of happiness. Well, of course you can.
Logging on and seeing Missy in a fury has got to be worth at least 150 dollars or so, or whatever you Welsh people call your money these days.
So what would this win do for Amir P4P wise?
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
Same here. I'll be rooting for Khan. But I think Koltenik will take it by decision.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
i want Kotelnic to win with a passion, but knowing dodgy Frank i think Khan will win by a controverial points win. which will put me in a bad mood for days again;D
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
Very suprised most of you seem to think this will be a close one, personally im thinking a very wide UD for Khan or a TKO. Kotlenik (or however its spelt) doesnt really have the weapons to combat Khans speed or the power to KO him like Prescott. Besides if Khans defence has improved as much as it did in his last fight im not sure Kotlenik will be able to land on his chin more than once or twice throughout the fight. His best shot would be to go to the body IMO. Still Khan wins this one easy i think.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I don't really care who wins this match although it would be nice to see Khan humbled....again ;D
I leaning towards a close decision win for Kotelnik but I wouldn't rule out a knockout win for him either. I know Kotelnik's not a big puncher but I'd say he hits just about as hard(if not harder) as Willie Limond who had Khan on queer street. And unlike Limond, Kotelnik is a world class operator.
A Khan victory wouldn't surprise me as he's improved over time. I just don't trust his chin.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
Khan will win by stoppage, Freddie Roach will have devised a plan to out-smart, out-hustle, out-box Kotelnik.Khans speed will be key in this fight as Kotelnik is well schooled but he cant really bang that hard ( dont know if that makes a diff,as it is Khan hes fighting )but is a bit of a methodical plodder.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
Kotelnik is who I will be shouting for.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I don't know enough about kotelnik to be fair, so i don't have a pick but i don't really care who wins. I just don't want someone faking a semi self induced KO like the abecko/darchiniyan undercard or quitting part way like some others...
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
i want and i think khan will win, and make it look fairly easy with his speed, but i swear if they match him with morales after this fight it will put me right off
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I see Khan winning by UD. Kotelnik really doesn't have KO power but Khan is chinny, this should be a good fight.
And for some reason I want to see Khan win. It's probably because he has so many people who despises him.

I think it's unlikely Khan will stop him, it will be very impressive if he does. I'm pretty sure Kotelnik has never been over, has faced some dangerous hitters and doesn't take too many chances.
I supose there is the possibility Khan could get a dodgy stoppage.. traps him on the ropes, lets flurry go, ref overreacts. Please no.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I think Khan will win a close decision which should have gone to Kotelnik. The only Kotelnik fight I've seen was the Maidana one, but he looked decent.
I want Khan to win though, all the negativity and vitriol directed at him has made me a bit of a fan of his.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I want Kotelnik to win, I cant stand Khan.
Kotelnik is a genuine strong light welter whereas this is Khans first fight at the weight and also probably his best opponent.
kotelnik did well against Witter who is quick and awkward and hits hard, Khan is quick but acording to his opponents the punches arent hard they just couldnt get out of the way of them, usually his opponents are from lighter weights as well, so that extra strength Khan has does tell on them whereas this bloke will walk through Khans daft combinatrions, that alone will make Khan think because Kotelnik is strong and has a very good defence and does everything workman like but he doesnt really have a punch.
I reckon Kotelnik will win before the final bell.
Khan will not be a superstar, he hasnt got the chin for it and his style just isnt very pleasing on the eye, its very amaturish, firing out lots of straight quick shots for points, hes been lucky enough to be of an ethnic background thats desperate for mainstream sports stars to follow, thats his fan base but they are blind to the fact hes already been shown up whithin a round by a nobody once and seems to be generally a wanker, im refering to him driving on the other side of the road to overtake cars that were waiting at a red light in Bolton city centre, only to smash in to someone crossing the road:rolleyes: Little prick.

No chance. Absolutely bloody no chance. Every fight Khan has now is going to be against a name fighter. Next up for Khan is Erik Morales, Hatton, or somebody like that.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I think Khan wins on points btw. Or Kotelnik KOs him. :)
If I have to pick I'm going for Khan.

you are closer to me than you think Ouma

Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
Hope Khan wins because
- He is a Brit and we could do with a new world champ
- Good for British boxing
- He is a nice bloke from what I have read and seen on tv
- Whats to fight the best out there(even if his promoter does not)
- It will be two fingers to all the racists who want him to lose just because of his skin tone.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I reckon I'm going to be the opposite of many people. My heart wants Khan to win, us Brits need a new champion and a forerunner of the new generation.
As for my head, I just can't see Khan staying away from Kotelnik for 12, and his chin still has a big question mark about it. I think Khan's main hope is to load up early on when he's still quick enough to stay away, and hope he's got the power to dispose of this guy.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I think Khan wins a close decision that will have Missy & Miles screaming robbery & demanding a Barrera rematch again. Then I think he fights Hatton.
I also want Khan to win. For ross to suggest that he's lucky to be Asian, & that's why he's popular, no its because he was an Olympic medallist, his early fights were on terrestrial, & say what you like but his fights were always good to watch unlike Audley who wasted the Olympic goodwill. His race has gained him a number of detractors as well as fans, so that's a load of bollocks. I have to say I wasn't really keen on him, but the stuff he's got on here (mainly for beatin MAB) & the racism he's put up with elsewhere from dickheads who I really doubt are boxing fans has made me a fan.
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
I think I started rooting for him after reading too many comments from elsewhere just like what Ross posted here. So I'm not as hard on the kid anymore even though he does says some things that are mind puzzling.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
this is gonna be a tough fight for Khan, Kotelnik has been walked over by nobody. What's ironic is that some Khan detractors think this is a cynical easy fight for him, which in fact makes THEM overrate him far more than most of his fans.
I'm not what you'd call a fan of him, but I certainly don't dislike him either, as it'd mean more meaningful fights on the dwindling British tv screens I want him to take this one.

Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
Anyone that fancies Kotelnik for the stoppage he is 6/1 with hills yet only 3-4/1 everywhere else. Get on!
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
Even Barrera hit Khan and turned his legs to jelly and he was so much smaller than Kotelnik.
Khan’s chin is so bad that you don’t even have to hit him hard, you just need to hit him clean. Look at the non-punching Lightweights who have put him on his arse.
Kotelnik may not be a puncher but he is a longtime Light Welter who has a chin, can punch on target, and has loads of stamina. He may only have a 38% KO rating but against Khan maybe thats all he’ll need to stop him in about 5-7 rounds…
I can only see Khan winning inside the distance by way of cuts OR an oversensitive ref.. If Khan puts on a speedy attack, mainly hitting gloves and arms and with the Manchester crowd going nuts, I can imagine the ref stepping in prematurely..
Kotelnick is the only one I can see clearly winning by KO..
...and I hope he does because I am get tired of watching the Warren hype machine trying to give us collective amnesia to the fact that Khan got KO'd so convincingly only two fights ago (and charging us £15 for the privilege!)
-
Re: Khan-Kotelnik.. Who wins/Who do you want to win?
Khan will dance about the ring, fire of flashy combos that hit mostly gloves, the crowd will roar at the sheer brilliance of the man.....
He's not in with a punching and unless he gets carless I expect he'll disco dance to a UD or TKO with the ref leaping in to save Kotelnik...Khan to say how brilliant he was etc etc

I might have some of that for a Kotelnik late stoppage win past the 6th round. I did win money on the Prescott/Khan fight so why not ?

Maybe MAB should have done a few more squats and ate a few more tacos and challenged Kotelnik.....

Unfortunately thoses odds have long gone mate.. bookies rarely make mistakes
You can get some decent odds on a late stoppage though if you fancy Kotelnik. ;)

Im not really sure about this match up, i know Andriy Kotelnik is durable and can go 12 rounds. But he's slow as hell and his punching power is only decentish if thats even a word.
I mean if you wrote this on a piece of paper, about all there best attrbitues Amir Khan should really win this one, by wide 12 round decision. But he's so fragile and even to the body he can be hurt badly.
I think Andriy Kotelnik may have the experience and toughness, to maybe drag Amir Khan into deep waters and maybe stop him late on. In the MAB fight i still see the same flaws in Amir Khan.
Whether or not Andriy Kotelnik can expose them, is another matter. I'll put a bet on for Andriy Kotelnik by late stoppage. But at the moment im debating in my head, am i overrating Andriy Kotelnik or underrating Amir Khan ?
