Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
I agree with you on 24!!! I love that show!! I've bought every season on DVD. You need to watch this past season, it's one of the best seasons. Just an FYI, in case you didn't know, next season is the last one unfortunately.
I liked Prison Break, but hated the ending.
No LOST? You have to watch that.
And you definitely need to add True Blood to your list. Bilbo posted links to the 1st season (there's only 12 episodes), in our thread about the 2nd season. You should give it a try.

Cheers 'D'
Somebody told me that I could watch the 1st episode of lost and watch the last episode and not need to see the rest (1st season) so I never bothered.
Guess I'll have to take a look

Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
They show a lot of American TV here but I just can't get into any of it. I'm really too English, I stick to BBC entertainment which is often annoying but keeps me settled with the few series that I can relate to.
-
Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
Lost is the best show ever on TV. Even better than Twin Peaks.. Yeah, I said it.
-
Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
The Wire is the single best TV show ever made. Fact. Script-writing puts everything else to shame.
However, it requires a little patience at first, but its on a different level to almost anything else I've seen. It's much grittier than those you've posted though, more like Sopranos if anything.
I liked the first series of 24, didn't mind the 2nd & 3rd, tolerated the 4th, & then it all went too far downhill for me & got overly ridiculous.
Never really got into Prison Break mainly because I couldn't stand the main guy's acting (or lack of it)
House is brilliant, the guy is such a twat.
West Wing I never got into either.
The gay ones you've posted up until Buffy, no the few moments I've seen with my girlfriend could've turned me into some sociopathic conservative or as it's more commonly known 'Lyle Syndrome'.
Buffy was pretty good back in the day although it lasted longer than it should have.
Angel actually wasn't bad.
Lie to Me is pretty good, especially Tim Roth, however at times it does just seem like House with Lie Detectives, & Roth with not as good a supporting cast as Hugh Laurie has.
If you can deal with a Brit show, you have to watch Life on Mars.
US shows, Brotherhood is good & True Blood starts over here tonight, oh yeah & Lost is good, best as a boxset, I never bother watching it on TV

Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
Actually, I hate a lot of British TV too. It's all just filler for the adverts as Mr Chomsky tells us.
I like my little bits though.

I love the Wire, I'm in the middle of going through the series for the third time.
I am a big scifi nerd and would highly recommend Battlestar Galactica. The original series was plucky comic relief and could be quite annoying. This reimagined series is nothing short of phenomenal.

Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
The last time I watched any sort of ongoing show on tv was back in the early 80's when Benny Hill was on. Well I did watch most of the 1st season of True Blood right before the second season started butb haven't seen any of this season. I hate tv. Ok; Crocodile Hunter and Jeff Corwin Experience:dunce:

I like Friends, and Seinfeld. I always watch the reruns of those. They never get old.

Sooooooo not true. LOST is a show that you need to watch every episode, and you have to pay close attention to everything. It's a mind-boggling show that's for sure.
Oh, and for pure laugh out loud fun, you have to watch Family Guy!!
-
Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
I forgot o say I watch Frasier too - only up to Season 3 - love it!!

Twin Peaks is one of my all time favorites!! I have all of that on dvd too. I never get tired of watching it.
Did anyone ever see the Fox show called "Profit"? That is a show that I couldn't believe people weren't watching, and it ended up getting cancelled after 8 episodes. Even TV Guide called it the best show that no one was watching. Adrian Pasdar played the most evil character on any TV show made. Again, even though it was only 8 episodes, I bought it on dvd.

Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
The Kill Point was really cool & Day Break wasn't bad either thinking of less acclaimed US shows.
-
Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
My favorite current shows in no paticular order are.
Entourage
Dexter
Friday Night Lights
Locked Up Abroad
The Deadliest Catch
Greys Anatomy
Top Chef
Older Shows
Wonder Years
Sopranos
Fresh Prince of Bel Air
Cheers
Seinfeld

Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
I got bored with 24 after a while but its an ok show.
And I'm totally with Jaz on the main character of Prison Break.
Anyway I've found out in the last few years that TV is really underrated, there is some amazing TV.
I would recommend highly
The Wire-greatest cop show ever and so much better than that piece of shit The Sopranos.
Lost-yeah ok its silly but very addictive.
Arrested Development-only three seasons before it got cancelled and you can get them cheap, maybe the greatest comedy show ever.

Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
The Wire is brilliant. It's a must watch. Sooo many good characters..................fuck it I'm gonna watch it all again ;D
I only found out recently that in real life, the guy that plays McNulty went to Eaton and that Stringer Bell is a cockney ;D

Yeah, Tommy Carcetti is an Irishman as well.
Apparently, Idris Elba who plays Stringer always puts on an American accent whenever he meets fans of the show from Baltimore ghettos because he can tell they're disappointed when they find out he's English lol

WHAT?! Someone lied to you realllyyy bad..
if you miss an EPISODE of Lost, then you are.. well.. LOST!
Thinking back to the first season, there was some essential character development, and of course VERY important back story. The great thing about Lost is that you always have to remember things in past seasons.. That's the only way you can put things together.. it really may as well be one long season, as it's not like other shows where they change from season to season.. Lost is one long continuous, in depth, crazy ass story.
Come to think of it, the first season was one of my favorites, and i couldn't wait to watch the finale for that one.. if i watched the first and last episode only, i would have missed out on a great ride.

Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
I only watch American shows too, hate British tv, where everything takes place in housing estates with chavs.
My fave programmes are Dexter, Lost and True Blood.
Dexter is probably the best of all them because they really push the boundaries sometimes. the conclusion to season one was insane, can't wait for this to come back on tv again!
-
Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
I cannot watch television shows unless they are commercial free.
Dexter
Trueblood
The Tudors
Rome
Curb Your Enthusiasm
All watchable.
I have never watched a single episode of Lost, 24, Prison Break, etc.
My girlfriend sometimes watches House while I am sitting at the computer. I can hear the show but not see it... what I hear his a bunch of horse shit.
I can watch shows like Monster Quest and UFO Hunters that have commercial breaks. When there is no plotline to follow I'm fine with a quick pause for bathroom buisness.
American shows stink anymore...
The best shows we've ever had were based on British programs.
Sandford and Son = Steptoe and Son
Three's Company = Man About The House
All In The Family = Till Death Do Us Part
To Close For Comfort = Keep It In The Family
Then there are the ones with basicallly the same name
Cash In The Attic
Dog Eat Dog
American Idol
America's Got Talent
Who Wants To Be A Millionare
The Office
Kitchen Nightmares
Dancing With The Stars
Weakest Link

Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
I think my all-time favorite BBC program is
All Creatures Great And Small
If you do not like this show you have serious mental problems. ;D
-
Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
Anyone remember 'Homicide:Life on the street' ? Best cop show EVER...oh and Hill street Blues;D
-
Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
Oh yeah, Dollhouse is pretty cool too.
-
Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
I highly recommend Heroes and Dexter. those are really the only 2 shows I look forward too.
its weird though because besides those 2 I watch all UK shows like X Factor and Britains got Talent
-

As for American TV I only watch Drake and Josh :D

Re: I only seem to watch American TV Series!!
One of my all time favorite shows was the thin blue line. Rowan Akinson was great and it was one of the funniest shows ever.
