Cotto by Ko;D

It gonna be a tough fight for both of them,I cant wait.
Cool can't wait. 145 seems a little pointless to me and I know that will go againsed Pac if Cotto looks terrible but I can't see it affecting him. It would just rule out any excuses afterwards.
Wonder what the percentage split was?
All I can say is......

I don't think there's a need to say who I am picking. ;D
If its guna be at 145 why not just make it at 147 so its a proper Welterweight fight against a legitimate Welterweight world champ.
Pacmans guna be quicker than Cotto, Cotto looks to have slowed down a little since the Margarito loss. And i dont care what anybody says Pacman hits hard.
But, ive said this constantly, had Hatton fought a smarter fight and just managed to live with Pacman a few rounds im convinced Pacman would seriously struggle with Hattons power. And Cotto hits harder, alot harder. No matter how perfect you fight and no matter how good your defence, unless you take your opponant out very early your guna get hit at some point.
And i just cant see Pacman doin to Cotto what he did to Hatton. Its gotta be a Cotto win by KO.
Good news. I'm glad both men came to an agreement and made the fight. I can't wait to see it.
I agree to a certain extent... Cotto is a Boxer puncher who thankfully can more than live with Pac.. Hatton was born and bread a swarmer and he only knows one way.
I agree I think Manny will have a hard time ascertain Cotto's power. Miguel is a seriously underrated counterpuncher. He did it to Mosely, Margacheato and even to tight defense Clottey. I really think Pac is going to get F**ked up in this one, Way to much to bite off
It should be at 147, it's a shame it isn't....Pacquiao may be in BIG trouble, however, Cotto caught some shots off of Judah that didn't sit well with him, he's going to have to be on point to beat Manny, that's for sure!
This is going to be like Hagler-Hearns, only I have no clue who the hell is Hagler
Pacquiao is going to beat him.
Cotto from his last performance takes a lot of punches lately a lot more and seems to wilt if he can't get you out of there, Clottey isn't nearly as fast as Pacquiao and probably doesn't hit as hard either. I can see Pacquiao overwhelming Cotto down the stretch. He just has too much power and too much speed against a Miguel Cotto who seems to forget what defense was since the beginning of his career. Cotto at this stage in his career needs someone he can walk down or someone that will fade late. Pacquiao he is going to do neither to. Pacquiao only gets stronger as the fight goes on and Cotto can't afford to take the middle rounds off in an attempt to come on late because Pacquiao can come on late. Cotto's neutralizer is his power and body punching, the body punching that Marquez seemed to slow Pacquiao with. But I really can't see Cotto coping with the multiple punches thats going to be raining down on his head. He got hit way too much in his last fight, if that was Pacquiao in the ring with him he'd have been knocked out before the 8th. So if Cotto is going to win this he needs to stop going in with the mentality that he'll eventually knock him out. Regardless I'm going with Pacquiao via 8th round stoppage. You need to have a strong mind to beat someone like Pacquiao and Cotto's mentality hasn't been the same since the Margaritop fight. When Pacquiao's starting to rain in punches on him and doesn't stop then he's going to wilt again. Cotto has power no doubt, but he doesn't have the mental strength anymore like Marquez did to deal with Pacquiao. Cotto especially after the Clottey fight is probably in mental strays. He loses to Margarito then the issue with the gloves comes up builds him up a little then he wins his next fight, and then he goes in against Clottey and starts to get busted up again and until Clottey slowed down late he started looking like the Cotto who was wilting against Margarito. Pacquiao is much faster then Clottey and hits harder, he just isn't as big. But Clottey didn't exactly have to impose his will on Cotto to hit him so that isn't much of a factor.
Pacquiao via late stoppage around the 8th round. Cotto is a good good fighter but he mentally isn't the same, and its that edge that he lacks that's gonna cost him.
Cotto V Pac is done...

I think this is gonna be a barn burner with Pac coming out on top. Its gonna be a great fight.
I think that Pac is gonna win, but I'd love to be surprised. ;D I wonder how he'll respond after taking some good punches from Cotto. It should be a good fight, I can't wait.
Nov. 14th can't come quick enough. I'm picking Pac by decision, but this won't be an easy fight.
Doesn't Pac want to retire soon and go into politics? I should still like to see him fight Floyd if he wins; or go up to JMW and make Cintron cry;D I know, that's stupid:dunce: Where does Pac go if he loses?...retirement or rematch or maybe a final fight with JMM:confused:
Its gonna be a Pac ko or stoppage.
i actually dont think this will be fight of the year. IMO it will be pretty one sided. Pac by ko.
I really enjoy watching both of these fighters and I can't say that I'm rooting for one more than the other. All I'm hoping for is a good clean fight with minimal controversy - I think both men deserve a lot of credit for making the fight happen. Matches like this are great for the sport! More fights of this caliber and the casual viewer will start to take notice.
I think what this fight comes down to iswho can take the punches better.
Damn right, this should be one of the best FOTY at the end of it.
I don’t really care who will win because I like the both fighters but I have a feeling that this time Pac bit more than he can chew, I mean he can get a decision based on his high workrate if he can take Cotto punches but I have some doubts here and I don’t see Pac stopping Cotto either.
I hope Cotto's recent cuts don't play a big factor, but with Pac's speed he could open Cotto up early. Cotto did a great job persevering with Clottey, but I'd hate for Cotto/Pac to end on cuts. I really can't wait to see how this fight plays out.
I do think this fight should have just as well been at 147. It would eliminate excuses or a possible tactic. But I still think at 145 Cotto will overwhelm Pac. But if Pac works on boxing circles he can convincingly outbox Cotto. His footspeed is too fast. Cotto is susceptible right down the middle but Pac doesn't have to use that. Its much easier to outbox Cotto with the ability Pac has. And Cotto has been looking closer to ordinary as of recent. I think Pac very much liked what he saw in the Clottey fight. But maybe that cut was the neutralizer and Cotto will come back to Cotto of pre-Margarito. I like Roach as a trainer and I would guess he saw the ability to outbox Cotto right there but for some reason I think Pac will be gunning and that will make for a tougher fight and I think Cotto will eventually overwhelm him. Either way, I like the fight being made. If only there was a super six welterweight tournament!
I wish it had been at 147 too; you want to take the title and trinket to wrap around your waist then play within the weights as usual.
But, should Manny win, I won't take anything away from him...period. Cotto made the choice, the governing bodies don't take issue with it, so it's on now. And if he loses and makes excuses, I know for me personally I won't pay attention to them. Same with Oscar; he wanted it and got thoroughly embarassed and that's on him. He made alot of $$$ off losing to Pac, but I saw some threads talking about how he was too embarassed to answer his own door after that loss:shinner: Hope the $$$ was worth the shame. The Cotto thing isn't drastic like that, but still I won't give any credence to weight drain excuses if he loses and tosses around the weight card. Cotto doesn't seem the type to make excuses though anyways.
I hope though, if Pac loses, that the nut licking Pac fans don't bellyache about Cotto being bigger but not really better, and take credit away from him.
Pac doesn't hit as hard as Clottey, Mosley or even Judah. And he's not all that much faster than Judah or Mosley. If he's even faster than them at all. Cotto was able to deal with all 3 to get 3 wins. I see no reason why Cotto can't handle whatever Pacquiao throws at him. Cotto by early stoppage
If only I could go to Vegas twice this year :(
This is gonna be a fantastic fight. November the 14th I cant wait for. Genuine 50/50 fight IMO and I hope there's a 24/7 for this.
Nobody knew De La Hoya was that shot. Hatton-Pacquiao was a win-win fight for me no matter who won. I flipped a coin for it. Tails for Pacquiao. Heads for Hatton. It came up heads. Hatton than goes out and tries to make his own head land on his fiances lap. And Marquez did beat Pacquiao. As will Cotto
I just can't see Pacquiao hurting Cotto. He'll connect. Cuz he is fast. And Cotto ain't exactly hard to hit. But Cotto's been hit before. He's been hurt before. He knows what to do. He'll bide his time. And eventually impose his will on Pacquiao. I have serious doubts about Pacquiao being able to take Cotto's punches.
It's gotta be either that or Cotto can't deal with the speed. Cotto really ain't been to the body in a big way for a few fights, I don't get that:confused:
His best bet is to pound those ribs and slow him down, about 8-9 hard shots during the 1st four rounds should do the trick.
Whens the last time you saw Pacquiao knocked down? I love Cotto an he's one of my favorite fighters but he can't knock Manny out! Cotto is excelent offensivly but doesn't have quite the chin Pacquiao does. This is a win lose situation for me. I love these two guys and they would make an awsome fight but I hate to see them beat each other up. Pacquiao just seems to be unstopable as of late and i'm not jumpin off the train until someone can do something to at least put up a resistance!
Winner Pacquiao KO by the 11th!
Oh boy! It's official! We're in civil war now!
...but just for the fight. May the best man win...
Cotto has been hit and hurt before but if Pac has Cotto in trouble, he knows how to finish the job. I don't think Cotto has fought anyone with the angles and punches in bunches that Pac will throw his way.
Pac being able to take Cotto's punches is the biggest problem IMO. Cotto's power will be something Manny has never felt before. I HOPE he can handle them. If not, it's goodnight Manny.
I honestly can't make a prediction. I want Pac to win of course, but it all depends on who gets in serious trouble first cause both men can finish fights when the opportunity arises. This is going to be a tactical brawl cause both men are punchers deep down but have very underrated boxing skills. They will respect each other early on but the deeper the fight goes, the more advantageous it will be for Manny. But TBH, I don't think this one is going the distance.
Manny will most likely approach this fight like the Oscar fight. Lots of movement and turning.
This fight will hinge on Cotto's ability to trap and time Manny. If he can trap Manny, he will win it. That is a big question mark for me because Cotto's timing seemed off against Clottey. That timing will be crucial for him. He will not beat manny if he is kept a half step behind the whole fight.
Manny will need to move and pick his spots. His legs are what can win him this fight. He will have to be very careful about jumping in because he might end up on his ass. Manny likes to dart in, but he will not get away with it against Cotto. Manny will have to use constant movement, potshot early and start working late. If he can cut Cotto up his chances increase.
Pac's great and every time I've bet against him, I've made to look foolish. BUT.... Cotto's body shots are the answer for Pac's speed. Cotto tags him with a few good body shots, takes Pac's speed, and this exciting back and forth fight gets really one sided in a matter of seconds.
Pac starts out real strong, but loses by devastating K.O.
pacs body has been trained to take big blows, and fighters who try to go to pacs body gets a body beating back aswell.
based on clottey cotto fight pac will outwork and outspeed cotto. but cottos punches will be one of the strongest pac will feel. so this will be an exctiing fight
2 of those 3 guys mentioned(Judah and Clottey) faded late and Cotto was able to overcome one, Judah. And outpoint another, Clottey.
Pacquiao isn't gonna slow down late so Cotto had better not come in with the same strategy of giving those middle rounds away and coming on late with just enough. Pacquiao is going to be in his face for 12 rounds and honestly its a bad style matchup for Cotto.
Clottey landed his combos but unless he set it up with the jab he was there to catch the rest on his gloves or arms or anything, he gave Cotto chances to come on. Judah was about the same but he would land his shots and then look at his work and Cotto was able to come forward and hit him. Pacquiao will come in land his combinations and then bounce back out before Cotto gets off that counter left hook the only way Cotto is catching Pacquiao with that left is if he catches him on the way in and I don't see Cotto's left being that fast, and I don't see Cotto taking the late rounds from him either. So im gonna go with Pacquiao via stoppage.
And lets be serious ALL these guys are ducking Paul Williams technically if he can still make 47 which he can apparently. But then again who wouldn't duck that guy. But with all these welterweight fights coming its a shame to see Paul Williams not involved even though he says he can go from 147 to 168 for any fights I'd like to see him in some of these matchups. HBO got rid of Robert Guerrerro's picture from their site, they should put Paul Williams's up.
Anyway Pacquiao late stoppage.
This is a very interesting match-up. I am very happy Manny didn't just wait for the outcome of Mayweather Marquez. With that being said I couldn't say who would win but I would give Cotto the edge. Natural weight and a viscious body puncher when he does go down there anymore. Pacquaio would probably just have to box and pick his shots and then later maybe if Cotto is hurt at all go after him in the championship rounds.
