Gatti death ruled a suicide
Wife to be released
Brazilian police have concluded that former world champion Arturo Gatti’s death was by his own hand. As a result, the court has ordered the release of his wife Amanda Rodrigues, who has been held since Gatti’s death on July 12 in Brazil. (More to come)

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
:-\
The autopsy just said it could have been a suicide as far as I know.
Not saying it wasn't as you never know but wasn't he supposedly falling down drunk?
Wonder what else made them think suicide?
-
Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
maybe he had swallowed a load of pills?
-
Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
I'm not saying that there isn't the possibility of something either shady or inept going on but all we know is the little that's been released, its all speculation.

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
what about the supposed stab wounds to the back of the head?

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
Nah. Who by and where was the autopsy conducted?
-
Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
The reported head injuries may have been superficial.. they could have come from the fight earlier

Wasn't this a highrise hotel....with a balcony? I mean,a purse strap?Really.Has she ever made a public statement in her own defense?

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
It was reported he was found lying on his bed they're now saying he was found hanged and suspended :-\

Here's more. I guess they are going to have a press conference sometime today.

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
Wow...I dont see why he would do this beign the kind of man that he is.
Alot of changing stories involved.:-\

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
Certainly shocking but once the coroner report came out things got interesting. If it is true (which I have no reason to doubt), then that is very sad for his wife who obviously has been going through a lot.

It's fairly cut and dry... He hit himself multiple times in the back of his own head with a blunt oblect and strangled himself with a purse strap. It's a textbook case:rolleyes:

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
THey say now that he would have hung himself, according to the report but answer me these questions:
1) no rope or nothing found on his body neither on his neck (as far as I know, these objects do not disappear once the guy dies) when they first found him, it was claimed to be a suspicious death at the time. Because when they found the body, there was nothing around his neck, nothing tied to the roof or nothing, just gatti dead in his bed apparently with strangling mark around his neck. Now, they say that they found him hanged... which doesn't match with the first stuff His wife said to have found him dead lying in the bed and didn't notice it before. Sorry but when a guy is dangling on a rope, you do not assume he's trying to have kinky sex David Carradine's way. These versions totally do not match and are totally at the opposite from each others.
2) the many contradiction that Maria Rodriguez did during her questionning
3) that she spent 10 hours with him in the same luxury room without noticing that the guy was dead when the guy now "dangles' from a rope tied to his neck.
4) whhy would somebody assume that he's been chocked with a purse in the first time if he was hung and not have, by any measure, mentioned he was "hung" and that suicide was evaluated instead of "it,s a murder and tryiung to define how many persons are implicated?"
5) why would somebody go assist to a wedding to suicide just before it? It doesn't make sense.
it doesn't take a genius to see that something doesn't work here.

...It makes it even more strange now that their story is that he was suspended... She spent 10 hours with Gatti's dead body swinging from the rafters not knowing he was dead?
This has legit angered me. This is a blast to Gatti's name and a slap in the face to his family. It's apparent that either the police that initially showed up or the ones coming forward now... That someone is lying. If that's what's going on... Why?
There is way too much dodgy shit going on... Something's not right here.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see this is a murder...
Apparently Brizilian police work has a bit to be desired

Nice touch by the police to hold her till their check arrived.. err, till they completed their investigation ..

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
Hmmm... obviously I don't know the full details/injurys etc... but if what I have heard is true then surely there are better ways of killing yourself than drugging yourself, stabbing the back of your head and then hanging yourself?
Fair enough you want to kill yourself... but you wouldn't torture yourself first would you? ???

Apparently Brizilian police work would lead you to believe that... yes... yes you would:rolleyes:
Why is there virtually no information about this... All in all they've released virtually nothing...

Not necessarily, it sounds like a lot of the 'fact's printed in the first week were incorrect.
I'm sure those actually involved in the autopsy and investigation know better what really happened than us reading scanty internet postings.
I sure as hell don't know what happened but it's a terrible tragedy for his wife if she is completely innocent after all.
As for not noticing him for 10 hours, maybe she was asleep, maybe they had had a row and he'd gone into one room and her another.
It's possible. I knew a lad a few years ago who killed himself by setting fire to himself in his bedroom. His mum and sister were in the house, and didn't notice until the next day. He had covered himself in petrol and where he lay becuase of the heat it had burned through the floor leaving a hole. :-\

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
I just watch the news here in Montreal and the family has confirmed they are going to exhumed the body end they hired what is known to be the best in the domain to perform a second autopsy. The family completely reject the suicide scenario.

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
I hope they put a hit on her in the 3rd world country. If you can buy the police off, you certainly can buy a helluva hitman.

No. No. I'm sure she had a lot of anal sex as well. She's 23 looking at life in prison in a foreign country. She would of fukked the whole judicial system to avoid that punishment. And I'm sure she did. I'm almost positive the reason she wasn't immediately released was due to her inablity to currently walk

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
Brazilian authorities are sketchy at best and obviously if she's out, she gets his cash. Case closed. I don't buy it at all and yeah, the knife that they had at the press conference to explain the head wound is where? BS. Damn shame.

i say that she probably gave a hell of alot of BLOWJOBS to get out of this situation.

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
It all reeks of something dodgy. If the police in Brazil are anything like those in Korea then it's likely a case of "Oh, here's a dead foreigner...we don't want the hassle and expense, let's close the case ASAP and if that involves spinning it a bit then so be it". You would think it would be a bit different involving someone as well known as Gatti. :-\
-
Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
I don't believe Arturo Gatti killed himself.
And from what I've read neither does his family.
-
Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
I was under the impression he was strangled to death with a purse strap? when did it changed to him hanging himself?
-
Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
Well I can't say I am surprised by this....I am wondering how Acelino Freitas feels about this situation? He was the guy Gatti and his wife were down there to see anyway. Freitas also said they had been fighting a lot or having "troubles". I would think a guy like Acelino would carry some weight down there and if he had doubts about this case he could get something done about it.

Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
One of the reasons that it was ruled a suicied is because he was found suspended. As if he had hung himself. I think that begs the question: why was it ever considered a homicide.
Now this poor woman, who just lost her husband, had to sit in jail while the funeral was going on.
-
Re: Gatti's death ruled a suicide; wife has been released
An article that sums pretty well the oddness of that case and why some of us have legitimate doubts about this newly "suicide" conclusion:

Bro, initial reports by brizilian police...(from the press conference) say he was found 1. On his bed 2. a bloody knife near by and 3. A bloody purse strap found next to him and head and neck trauma.
They've done a 180. THAT'S why people think it was a homicide.
Now all of a sudden he was suspended.
