Only possible reason to watch an athletics event is for the 100metres final...surely?
Yes blue ribbon event, Bolt looks good and interested in how Chambers does (our Margarito).
I'll be tuning in. I like the long distance events, but race tactics often piss me off. It pisses me off when they do a slow jog around the track for 9,600 meters then sprint the final lap. May as well just run a 400m event then.
Love a bit of Athletics Big H, I think the young Heptathlete looks good for a medal maybe even gold the name I cant think of right now.
Funny enough I have just finished reading Dwain Chambers book I would reccomend it quite an intresting read, and it just makes you wonder how many of these athletes are playing fairly. Also countrys such as Jamacia dont have independent drug testing say like the UK they just go buy the international athletics drug testing rules.
The only reason Chambers was caught was because a coach fell out with Conteh the man behind the THG drug and he sent a sample to the authorites so they would be able to detect it in future tests, the genral opinion is that the testers are about 10 years behind the so called chemists who are producing these new enhancing performance drugs.
Is Allison Stokke vaulting?
I may tune in to see her

Yes love the women's pole volt, high jump, long jump, 100 metres...
I agree with Bilbo

I got to know that pic quite well during the Olympics.
She's so stunning imo.
I used to love watching running, and i used to do it in highschool aswell. But for some reason it just doesn't interest me as much anymore, i don't mind watching it here and there, but at the last Olympics i had no idea what running event was on at what time.
I constantly missed all the major events, and had to watch them on youtube. I don't know what it is but it just doesn't interest me as much anymore, maybe because im a bit older now and now realize/suspect. Most of the runners are on steroids or whatever.
I read a report last year that said up to 70 percent, or whatever the percentage was. That there on steroids and its the new one they can't detect or something.
And i know there are obviously god given talented athletes, who don't cheat but its hard not to be suspect.
Anyway sorry for my ranting LOL, just thought i'd share that. I'll see if i have time to watch it later.
Jessica Ennis is well fit.
I am not an athletics fan but Canada won against russia today in the U18 team and I am damn happy because I know team Canada goalkeeper very well and knowing how he struggled to get up there, I am damn proud of him.
Thus said, some of the pictures up here are definitely tasty:)
My computer is over run with little Athletics stuff as my misses is the southern peninsula organizer and shes a level two coach in javelin and also trains kids in all types of other events as well as pulling together joint events from all over the state.
So I think we will be watching some of it for sure.
We get to hear this a lot at our meetings..
:action:"Do not cross the track while an event is in progress please":oooh:
Bolt looks like the man to beat, think Tyson and Powell will come 2nd and 3rd.
9.58 WTF!!!!!
BOLT IS NOT HUMAN
What an athlete!!
Bolt ran a 9.5fucking8! :o
He is the most astonishing athlete I have ever seen.
That's probably the most amazing sporting thing I have ever seen in my life just beyond belief!!!
To put it into perspective how good he is, he ran 9.89 in the semi-final and jogged from 40 metres onwards. Linford Christie was World and Olympic champion and his best ever time in his whole career was 9.87
Linford Christie was a cheat though ;)
But yea that certainly was a sight to see, for certain one of the greatest sporting achievements i've ever seen in my life time. Something to tell the grandkids when im old that i was in the Usain Bolt era. By the way i also had the same prediction, as Master did but Usain Bolt at his best is unbeatable.
I reckon he will take Michael Johnson's 400m record aswell, i used to love Michael Johnson as a kid. But i would love to see a guy like Usain Bolt break it. And also did anyone see Jessica Ennis ? great performance from her she done England proud well done.
I know man, I am still speechless here. That is a benchmark moment in sporting history for sure. Gay and Powell performed really well, but they were both chasing Bolt's shadow.
He is just an utter physical freak and I can't see the 100m and 200m being competitive while he is performing at this level. I mean, the gulf in class between him and everyone else is astronomical.
I feel honoured to have witnessed that performance!
what do you do know if your tyson gay? the guy just run 9.71, a time he hs never done before and still got destroyed doing so.
I found a link to the race on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzSpP...eature=related
You know what a prat I am. I missed it. Flicked over the channel for a couple of seconds and then when I flick back to it, Bolt is celebrating. :(
(Did you see Micheal Johnson's face on BBC, he was astonished. Now he knows what the other athletes felt when he was racing, he was unbeatable. 10 years a head of his time.)
Well, the 10,000m is about as competitive as the 100m at the moment. Kenenisa Bekele just won his 12th consecutive 10,000m and set a new championship record in the process. He is undefeated over 10,000m since he first started running the race in 2003! :o
Another freak.
Did you see how fast they were running!!! I couldn't sprint that fast. 62 seconds for 400 metres they were doing :o
A "fatigued" Bolt just smashed the 200m world record again, bringing it down to 19.19. One emoticon sums it up... :o
Ohh Dam those high jump girls have longs legs. That is all.
HAhaha, nice work.
Caster Semenya, the woman 800m runner being gender tested, is, quite appropriately, an anagram of 'Yes, a secret man'.
Caster last week went to the Doctors, to complain of Hairs on Her Chest. The Doctor asked how far the Hairs went down Her Chest. She replied, down to my Bollocks. ;D
