Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
Didn't watch it live because i was asleep, but here's my scorecard after just watching it.
1 Malignaggi 10-9
2 Diaz 10-9
3 Malignaggi 10-9
4 Diaz 10-9
5 Diaz 10-9
6 Malignaggi 10-9
7 Diaz 10-9
8 Malignaggi 10-9
9 Malignaggi 10-9
10 Malignaggi 10-9
11 Malignaggi 10-9
12 Diaz 10-9
Paul Malignaggi 115-113.
Quite suprised Paul Malignaggi handled Juan Diaz, as good as he did. And im quite suprised he was able to keep up such a good workrate, i felt the fight was close in the first 6 rounds or so.
Then after the 8th round, Paul Malignaggi i felt totally outboxed. Juan Diaz for 4 rounds IMO, he kept his distance well rolled with the punches. And landed some good jabs with Juan Diaz struggling to get any offense going.
I didn't think the rounds were that hard to score, the 8th round was the only swing round IMO. And the 12th round although closish i felt that was clearly Juan Diaz's. I have no problem's with a draw and i'll have to watch the 8th round again sometime, but for me Paul Malignaggi won the fight based on the later rounds.

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
I've already forgotten my scorecard but I had Diaz ahead 7 rounds to 5. I don't think it was an outright robbery. I felt it could have easily gone either way but 118-110 is just god awful.

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
Not sure of my round by round, but I remember I scored it 116-112 for Malignaggi, I thought he did a beautiful job of boxing and moving, and Juan just couldn't keep up.
Good fight, after seeing Hatton maul Paulie, I thought Diaz would be all over him but Paulie put on a great show.

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
I didn't score the fight but Paulie seemed to me the better fight that night. Juan Diaz definitely had his moments though. Overall an entertaining scrap.

You must of scored the 8th round for Juan Diaz then ? that to me was the only real round. That could of gone either way, i thought the best Juan Diaz could of done was a draw.

Agreed i thought Juan Diaz couldn't really get his workrate, going after the 7th round. Until he picked it up again in the 12th round.

10 - 9 Malignaggi
10 - 9 Diaz
10 - 9 Malignaggi
10 - 10
10 - 9 Diaz
10 - 10
10 - 9 Diaz

10 - 9 Diaz
10 -9 Malignaggi
10 -9 Malignaggi
10 -10
Scored it 116-115 for Diaz but it could've gone either way depends on you're preference more accurate crisper punches or less crisp but higher quantity of punches. However this was NOT a robbery. The scorecards were bad not the decision.

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
The fight was very close, I had Diaz winning.
I'm not a big fan of either fighter, but I do prefer the brawler puncher over the more pure Boxer. The way I see it PM looked confident but the majority of his punches were ineffective. (missed or hit Diaz on the gloves) it looked too flashy to me. The too close to call rounds I gave to Diaz, because he was the aggressor. Had I given those rounds to PM he would have come out the winner.

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
I had it 115-113 Malinaggi...though it could have gone either way....Malinaggi was not outright robbed of a win but he was robbed of a fair shake........That is the worst of it all...a guy fights his heart out then gets screwed

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
I scored it 115-113 Diaz, but I was drunk and watching it on a stream. I'm going to watch it again tomorrow and I have a feeling my perceptions might change.
It was a very close fight though, either guy could've got the nod. The word 'robbery' is being used far too often these days, the scores were off but Malignaggi didn't get robbed if that makes any sense.

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
Everytime I watch the fight i think it's more and more convincing for Diaz and I think the talk is by Paulie is way over the top. I give Paulie a lot of credit for coming out moving, sticking to a gameplan and making it a good show but I thought Diaz was landing harder, more accurate shots and Malignaggi wasn't as sharp as he was given credit for a good percentage of those shots that we blocked. Diaz did really good work with his jab that he wasn't given any credit for, I just think he won the fight and convincingly enough imo.
R1: Malignaggi
R2: Diaz
R3: Malignaggi
R4: Diaz
R5: Diaz
R6: Diaz
R7: Diaz
R8: Diaz
R9: Malignaggi
R10: Malignaggi
R11: Malignaggi
R12: Diaz
That's 115-113 and the Malignaggi rounds were closer then the Diaz rounds and honestly I can understand Gale Van Hoy's card a little bit or at least I can understand the logic he was probably using and that's just that Paulie's punches counted for next to nothing. He wasn't turning much over, all arm punches and not that accurate. He did do nice work with the right uppercut and that was his best punch in the fight imo aside from the jab. Diaz' punches were much louder and he was doing much better work to the body throughout the fight and a lot of those rounds Malignaggi won he did so without landing to many clean punches.
118-110 is ridiculous and even I will admit that I think even 117-11 is a stretch but 116-112 for Diaz I wouldn't have a problem with. With that said I wouldn't have a problem for some of these 115-113 scorecards but the right man won that fight imo.

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
What he said.
Max should be banned for life. :shakehead: Van Hoy should be given an ice cream cone. At one point Diaz landed a good shot at the end of a combo that Papa commented on but Max was immediately yeah but Paulie landed 4 or 5 shots right before that, rewinded, no he didn't.
-
Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
Yeah, the numbers were ridiculous and I know that sequence. Not only was it not 4 or 5 punches landed, it wasn't even 1 punch landed they were all blocked. I give Malignaggi credit for the best performance of his career, who knows if he had shown up like that against Hatton what would have happened but I don't think he won and yeah, HBO was pretty bad.

I think the Cotto fight was his best but this was deffo his second best. Hatton hurt him early and often which is why Paulie could never get going.

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
Malignaggi just sent me a DM on twitter saying hes pushing for the Rematch.

Diaz said in an interview on Boxingtalk that he'd be willing to fight a rematch. However, he also said that it's up to GBP.

Translated "I really don't want to fight him again and I know my promoter is gonna keep me away from him anyway but I'm trying to save face so I can keep saying i'll fight anyone and let my promoter take the heat for who he doesn't match me up with."

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
wtf do you want Majesty? Why not give both some respect for giving Malignaggi a chance and a chance to look good. I have no interest in a rematch to be honest I would rather see other matchups. Let Malignaggi go to St. Louis and take on Alexander if he wants to fight at 140 so bad. Malignaggi should be happy he made the fight close and not go over the top.
btw where is your scorecard majesty do you have one?

Already posted it in one of the threads about Malignaggi vs Diaz. I had Malignaggi winning and I don't blame Diaz for not wanting to fight him again. I'm just tired of fighters saying "It's up to my promoter"

Normally I would agree with you but, Juan Diaz puts his ass on the line every time and always makes an exciting fight. He has already been in probably FOTY and this was a great fight as well. I had Paulie winning the fight, but Juan Diaz I feel is ducking nobody and I honestly feel fights where he is told and I don't even like Juan Diaz all that much.

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
I have no scorecard because I have only seen the fight once but I felt that it was a very clear Malignaggi win. I was completely shocked when they announced Diaz as the winner. So much so that I knocked a hot cup of tea all over my keyboard and couldn't type anything for 3 days.
It was as bad a decision as I have seen in recent times and you had to feel for Paulie. I'm so glad that he raised a fight in the post fight interview. Everyone who framed that fight deserved to be called out on it.
Diaz was well below par and simply couldn't get going. Malignaggi was too quick and too smart for him. His output was spot on. A hundred punches in the first round was quality stuff. I was watching it thinking Malignaggi had swallowed a Calzaghe pill.

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
Please rewatch the fight, you must have been getting fooled by the tassles or something.

Re: Paul Malignaggi vs Juan Diaz My Scorecard.
fooled by the tassles is an underrated theory
