Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
I'm a fan of Arreola, but even I admit he may be in over his head here. No chance? What you say?
When asked whether Arreola or Chambers had a chance against the Klitschko's, James Toney said, "Zero. I give them zero" was his initial reply, before adding," Well, ya’ know what, I’m gonna take that back. Chris Arreola got a better chance than Eddie Chambers because he’s got a punchers chance. If Chris Arreola jumps on him within the first three rounds, like he did against Jameel McCline, then he got a chance to blow him out of there. If it goes past three, four rounds, Chris in for a lot of trouble. And the reason why I say that is the only thing Klitschko is going to do is jab, stick-and-move, jab. He can’t do nothin’ else. All Chris has to do is jump on him, keep that guy backing up because he can not fight going backward."

However, there are reports that Arreola is in decent shape: Chris Arreola Looking Good, Strong in Training Camp - Boxing News.
Either way, it is a good heavyweight card. Ustinov v. Boswell and Banks v. Mora.

I think he has a chance for 5 rounds. Headhunting is not the answer, maybe if he goes for Vitali's body he could have a better chance. A power punching heavyweight that goes to the body would be a nice change of pace since all I see are head hunters when someone fights them.

Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
Of course he does. He's in with an old fragile guy.

Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
Vitaly does not seem too sure about him, I saw a press event and he did not look 100% confident like normal. Maybe Arreola can get Lyle crying into his pillow, I mean he is younger, hungry and confident but I still ain't sold on him just yet. If he wins then it's gonna be interesting for the division

Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
Arreola is in with the wrong Klitschko. I would favor him against Wladimir but in no way against Vitali. A puncher's chance is slim against Vitali. But I do like the matchup. Its probably Vitali biggest competition.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
Vitali is 38 years old. I also thought he looked sloppy in his last fight. And Vitali can be dragged into a brawl.
Vitali is the clear favorite, but Arreola definitely has a chance.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
He has a chance but he'll have to work damn hard because Dr Faust is like a wall of bricks. Personally, I don't think he will get through Vitali but he has a lot of talent and an upset isn't impossible.

Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
I'm not medicated, completely sober and have had plenty of sleep ;D
I'm picking Arreola to TKO a cut Vitali early and along the ropes ......then again I also thought Manfredo would outbox Bika :bucktooth:

Haa.Have not thought to much about a distance win but at Vitalis age and minimal resistance in Peter and Gomez who knows?Just hope Arreola does not go out and think himself a waiting boxer, the 1st round of Walker fight:fight:.Really don't know if he has late rnd conditioning, needs to blitz him, stick with what got him to the big show.

Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
Klitschko is getting on in age and he's bound to get old (in boxing terms) at some point. He also hasn't really been tested since returning to the ring, though he has looked quite good from what I've seen. If he does get old overnight, Arreolo is going to give him hell. However, he (Vitali) still has legitimate power and I think he's going to stop Arreolo.

Same here, a shocking K.O around the 9th and I trust Fritz Sdunek, one of the best and most under rated coach in the business to find the key To Arreola's defeat.

Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
Vitali is older and nobody knows how healthy he is these days, I read recently he had to cut short a public sparring session because he tweaked his achillies. Arreola is going to really have to prove himself if he is to win no matter what kind of shape Vitali comes to fight in. Vitali is a tough s.o.b and Cris will have to take punishment and withstand it to win.....I don't think he's got it in him to beat Vitali. Cris is too easy to hit, to willing to get hit, and although he throws combinations and has been in with some decent competition to prepare for this fight, I just think there's too much lacking in Arreola's game to come away with the win.

Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
You have to wonder if maybe a top flight trainer would do well for Arreola. I'm not saying Ramirez (?) is bad, but a more experienced trainer could improve on his defense etc.

Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
I think he has a better punchers chance than anyone else in the entire heavy division to be honest. Lets face it, no one has reall tested the chin of the Klit for a while. I'm gonna say he can catch the Klit cold within 3 if he's lucky otherwise he's gonna get jabbed and jabbed and jabbed and slow down each and every round until he's beat......

That's totally true. The problem is getting around the jab and that sleep-inducing right hand.
I wonder if Vlad would back out of his Chambers fight if Arreola pulled off the upset of the century and beat Vitali in order to avenge his brother's defeat.

Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
I just hope this fight happens and Vitali doesn't have some old injury come up on fight night and it gets canceled lol. Chris has a good chance if he goes for the gusto and takes it to the big man but if tries to make it a thinking mans fight then he goes night night after a long and painful beating.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
I'll give him a puncher's chance and you never know with Vitali's age one could never know.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
Areolae has no chance unless Klitschko suddenly gets old overnight. Areolae nearly got KOd in the first round against Travis Walker rushing in, if he does it to Klitschko it'll be over really early.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
I'm a fan of both fighters. But I gotta go with the local warrior.

Maybe I need to check that one again.Seem to remember Arreola ;D doing next to nothing, standing there over thinking for the first segment and letting Walker establish his reach,jab...get brave.Only after the KD he woke up and went nuts out on Walker. If he tries to 'box' Vitali...wait outside.... he'll be eaten rights and jabs ala one of his late night Taco bell drive thru runs.

He's going to have to try and get his areolae on the inside to fight and every time he tries to come in he's going to be target practice for the laboratory creation Klitschko. Unless Klitschko has lost it overnight he can't help but win. Areolae can move faster than Sam Peter and might even land a decent punch or two but at some point he's going to get sparked.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
And he doesn't do Taco Bell anymore. He's got a nutritionist and he's going to come in so close to being in shape that I can't call him Araeolae anymore. He was 250 in his last couple of fights, wonder what he's going to come in at.

Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
Anyone hear how Arreola looked at the weigh-in yesterday?
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
I picked Arreola, I love Vitali and would have picked him over Cris 2-5 years ago, but Vitali seems to be held together these days with rubberbands ans duct tape, couple that with his age and you get this risky prediction of mine.. I like Cris too and am a fan of his, he seems to have a certain confidence and poise to him. I think his energy and style are good for the division and the sport
Although I wouldnt be suprised if Klit stopped him do to still having plenty in the tank and being injury free.
Vitali is a stone wall with a ton of experience and that is a tall order for Arreola...
Though I think Arreola being HW champ isint a bad thing, he would be the 1st Mexican descent to do it, plus it would remind me of when Happy Gilmore took to the golf course, it certainly was a change of pace from the norm;D
Imagine down to earth Cris with his tell it like it is with tons of tattoos a beer belly and pink shorts being the heavyweight champ. good news is he is young, tough and willing to fight anyone. if he gets by Vitali, Cris is going to smash Wlad to pieces.

I'd say a conditioning coach should be the first step.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
I think he has a chance we didnt learn much from the fights with Sam Peter and Gomez Arreola has to put it on him and see how he copes he has to give everything he has got.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
I'll go out on a limb and pick arreola. I think way way too much is made our of arreola's weight and apperrance and not what he's doing in the ring. He doesn't have the skill or experience to beat klitch but he does have the punch and heart and is sorta smart in the ring at times. I belive the klitch is taking his opponet a little bit too lightly. If chris come in weighing 320 pounds with one glove so he can hold a donut in the other hand yet still wins....then who gives a shit. I'm actually real close to going to the fight actually, they are selling tic's for half freakin price. I got the ok from the wife but can't figure out a for sure way to get to the mcafee in oakland on sun for the raiduh bronco game...damn.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
if vitali's aged overnight.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
I'm more worried if a loss to Vitali will completely ruin Arreola.
I think Vitali is measured enough (and has done this so often) that he will pick Cris apart and not allow for any wild exchanges.
If Cris does somehow pull off an upset(highly unlikely), I think Wladimir would definently teach him a boxing lesson.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
Well lets see...
Bailey over Urango,nope
Lacy over Jones Jr.,nope
Marquez over Mayweather,nope..........sure why not.I'll stick with Arreola via early TKO on big Vitali ;D
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
if Arreola goes to the body like he says he will then he has a shot. If he goes head hunting its Sam Peter all over again
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
They're interviewing Vitali on that Jim Rose show and the guy (a fill in, not Rome) asks one of those obligatory questions "you were retired for four years, now you're back, what did you gain in that four years that you were out" I'm sure thinking Vitali would say something like oh I'm much wiser, smarter, things are more in perspective, blah blah blah, but instead Vitali says "I am about 250" ;D

Actually, Arreola doesn't look to be in horrible shape (at least from the one photo of the two staring at eachother).

Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
Of course Arreola always has a punchers chance, but given the durability of Vitali and the height difference, experience and ability on his side, Cris is a pretty far fetched choice in this fight. I like Arreola a lot, but I've seen him rocked by signifigantly less skilled men.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
.....Rant, he still has his fucking shirt on, how can you tell he's in good shape??? I bet you Cris still has rolls! That motherfucker as exciting a fighter as he may be is a God damn disgrace to the sport with how out of shape he comes into fights!
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
Arreolas got no chance in hell of beating Vitaly.
The second Vitaly lands a right it'll be lights out.
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
...I'm not sure about all that Mick. Vitali's KO's are usually from an accumulation of power punches, I bet Cris gets up once or twice but sent back down just as fast.
Cris does have heart, he's just a fat lazy fuck
-
Re: Does anyone think Arreola has a chance against Klitschko?
There's always the possibility that some part of Vitali's body gives out & he can't finish the fight. Other than that... not really.
But, fuck it, I'll go for a 5th round TKO for Arreola ;D
