Shocking.
Just been confirmed on Sky News. I wouldnt come on here and talk Bollocks about something like this Sad Day Im Gutted
Sad news. Sorry to hear. Guess we'll wait for the news reports for what and how etc.
Condolences to family and friends.
Fenster lets not guess what happened it will all come out thinking of the Family at a time like this Respect.
RIP, I'm in complete shock, even more so than when it was Arguello, Gatti or Forrest. He was by far the best out of the Olympians to turn pro. Actually saw him in Bromley town centre only a few months back & said good luck with his career, he seemed a really polite, cool guy, such a tragedy.
Condolences to all his family & friends.
R.I.P DARREN:eek:,he had something special about him.He would have been world champ no doubt,im gutted!!

This has been a horrible year for boxing it really has, what the fuck is going on? I'm speechless. RIP Daz and get better Frank:(
Finding this news hard to take. Achieved his dream at the olympics and no doubt would have done it in the professional game. Sad loss. RIP Dazzler
RIP. You see something like that and think that guy had everything going for him. But you never really know what's going on with people.
This is terrible. So shocking. He had everything ahead of him. Can't believe it. So so sad.
fuck.
This is awful news.
RIP
I can't believe that one of the best boxing prospects, but more importantly one who came across as a real gentleman of the sport has been lost so young.
Sutherland had shown a huge amount of promise since going pro, and had looked very good in his performances so far. 2009 has been a horrible year so far in terms of the boxers that we have lost, and Sutherland as one of the young guns of British boxing is horrible.
I couldn't believe what I heard the first time I heard it on a radio. As with others, I hope his family find strength in this difficult time, and that he will RIP.
How did he die?
Still shocked here:eek:
Wow this is cruel news, makes you really sad.
RIP Darren Sutherland.
Condolences to his family.
May he rest in peace. God only takes the best. And Darren was one of them. An outstanding fighter.
Rest in peace Darren, won't be forgotten.
Get well soon Frank.
cant believe this tears streaming what an abolsolute waste of talent please god let this be the end of all this
in shock
RIP peace
So sad but it's true
BBC NEWS | UK | England | London | Boxing star found dead by manager
There is a consistent history of boxing suicides. While there were undoubtedly other determining factors surrounding his death, boxing is a very mentally demanding, almost debilitating, sport.
When you step through those ropes, you're putting your life/livelhood/reputation on the line more so than in any other sport. If a footballer has a bad game, he will probably still get picked for the next match - if a boxer performs badly in a big fight, he is potentially finished; the mental pressure is immense. So a bad defeat or even the pressure to succeed can have deep psychological effects.
Perhaps there should be more stringent psychological tests to assess a fighter's mental state: regularly, say every 6 months. I think it's definitely something the BBBC should look into.
P.S.- R.I.P. Darren.
Bloody hell. Don't know what to say about this one. RIP.
Awful news, very very sad to hear. Thoughts and prayers with his family. Rest in peace Darren. Such a bright prospect and talent.
Depression in athetes, particularly fighters, is something that needs to be adressed. Nicolas Cervera who also suffered from depression took his life too not long ago and Alexis Arguello too. Also countless others. Depression was also the major contributer to the deaths of many, many fighters over the year. This is something that has been going on for a while, but I dont want to see these tragedys happen anymore. Nobody does. As a fighter and a man, it is hard to be open to others about sad feelings and suicidal thoughts. There is a stigma attached to it in this culture. Men who suffer from depression generally become self destructive, rather than seek help. That should not be the case. Nobody should have to feel that way. That is why the percentage of males that attempt suicide sucessfully are staggering and a lot higher than females. This is a topic that needs to be put in the light and discreet resources should be available for people like Darren. Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain that can be treated with the right medication/s and therepy. It is not a character flaw. Its not a personality type, and it does not define the man or women that it attacks. Its a problem that can be solved..in this lifetime.
This is fucking horrible news. I just can't believe it.
R.I.P Darren.
WHEN THE BRIGHT LIGHTS FADE TO BLACK
After the bright lights of the Olympic stage, the light fades to black.
After the roar of the crowd and the welcome home fades, the only
three words left are rest in peace.
DARREN SUTHERLAND - another tragic boxing story and his name is on the wall of the "Lost Warriors" with no time to say goodbye.
mate of mine was only telling me yesterday how he got darrens autograph at the fury/mcdermott fight on friday and how he seemed completely fine and even comented on his next fight!
48hours later and he decides to take his own life. Words just cannot put into place when things like this happen
RIP
WOW!Sad news.
Just read it on the news.
Dont understand why a youg fighter with so much going for him would do such a thing.
WHY,WHY,WHY...R.I.P.
Terrible terrible news, i cant believe it. RIP champ.
