Rocky Juarez...............
I was saying to my friends last night, Rocky has to be the MOST frustrating fighter to be in the corner for. He knows going into the fight he can't get off faster than his opponent, he knows he can't out box his opponent, he knows his only shot is to destroy the body and go for the kill. But yet once again, despite 11 rounds of pleading from his corner he finally catches John in the final round, but doesn't have the common sense to unload. Is he unable to throw combinations? Is he afraid of John's power?
There is no good reason he should be getting so many title shots, when we know he can't pull the trigger when it counts. Am I alone in this thought?

No you're not alone.
And I think his chances of getting more title shots has pretty much run out.

I hope you're right, one thing is he pulls in good crowds at home which gives him good leverage.
Re: Rocky Juarez...............
Fukk him. I'm tired of seeing him crash and burn every title fights he gets. Who the fukk is he blackmailing to keep getting all these chances? By all rights he should be 0-6 in title fights

I think he pretty much becomes a gate keeper for the division, and a tool for the next batch of up n' comers. Like you said, he draws a home crowd, so that would be great for a HBO BAD show or ShoBox, and would give good exposure to a prospect.
Re: Rocky Juarez...............
I don't think he could up it because of his lack of ability. He's just too one-paced.
He gets the shots because he is very beatable, cheap (i would expect) and has enough durability to make fights competitive - even if they are not on the scorecards.

Agreed it does seem like Juarez has only one speed and it never varies with the exception of a big moment here and there
Re: Rocky Juarez...............
Yeah his ride should be over.Hyped to the point of nausea out of the Olympics and network Darling but could never maximize his opportunity (s).Now he's a one trick pony with a messed Valerie Mahfood haircut, only she's much meaner :-X

fully agreed.
Re: Rocky Juarez...............
He looks good once against Barerra and gets 7 title shots from it.
And because Glen hamada had that fight 114-113 for John..
How the hell did he have the fight that close. Juarez loses the first 10 rounds one sidedly and somehow loses by only a point?
All of it seems like a conspiracy like it's intentionally kept close so that we can keep seeing Juarez till he finally wins a title one day it's just sad. Crap like that is what kills boxing
And I can safely say if they were in Texas that Juarez would have won that decision
Re: Rocky Juarez...............
Juarez is very frustrating to watch. I hope he doesn't have another title shot in a hurry. He doesn't deserve it.

Let's hope he doesn't get another one, period. 6 chances is more than enough. It's 5 or 6 more than most guys ever get.
Time for Rocky to be a gatekeeper.
Re: Rocky Juarez...............
I use to rant about Juarez all the time, he's had at least 4 too many title shots. He's picked cause he's a name defense for titlists whose thoroughly predictable, you know exactly what you're gonna get out of Rocky all the time, which is not much. Skilled and responsible enough to not get beaten up but you just have to avoid the meager output from him and pile up the points.
Re: Rocky Juarez...............
....that's funny, when he fights in Houston he's damn near unbeatable

Yes that is the version of funny I am speaking of
Re: Rocky Juarez...............
Sheep! In a thread I started before the fight I said, "Hopefully Juarez decides to start fighting before the 10th round." He only decided to fight the last one...

Yea right! Another titleshot will find its way to him. He'll even be televized! Not Boxing After Dark, not ESPN, not the local spanish station, HBO Championship Boxing! Who gets that many chances and continues to blow it? Who gets title shots and doesn't realize he should fight with more desperation!?
Re: Rocky Juarez...............
.....a couple guys who got multiple shots at titles: John Ruiz, Andrew Golota (though to be fair he should have won vs Ruiz and Byrd), and Oleg Maskaev
Juarez is a mini John Ruiz....I would watch him if he's ever on HBO though, hopefully it's vs someone who will destroy him
