And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
Bob Arum held court Wednesday in front of a small group of reporters, discussing everything from Floyd Mayweather’s recent comeback to the upcoming Pacquiao-Cotto superfight. It was something else Arum said that especially piqued my interest.
When asked about the potential of a Cotto-Mosley rematch should Cotto beat Pacquaio or look good in defeat, Arum wasted no time in drumming up interest in another potential rematch.
“A Mosley rematch {is possible}, or a match that would do even better is a Margarito rematch. “Margarito should be available in February.”
Whether Margarito’s U.S. suspension is lifted remains to be seen. But the fact that Margarito will potentially be allowed to fight again, let alone for seven-figures against Cotto, is alarming.

Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
Hope they don't lift the suspension. Hope he ends up on some mexican reality tv show trying to make a few bucks, then eventually broke ass. And never gets to make another dollar from boxing. Harsh? Maybe. But fuk him, and his trainer. This sport doesn't need any more black eyes, and especially one so blatant and dangerous in regards to cheating.
-
Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
Margarito should never fight again. Certainly not in a major fight.
Arum should die from cardiac arrest in the near future too. A horrid old man.
-
Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
If I were Cotto I wouldnt fight Margarito.....That SOB's cheating could have and may have damaged Cotto......F<ck him.....

If Cotto wins, he will fight Mayweather as that's where the money will be. Everyone is being fooled by what gets said by all parties, but the Mayweather vs Pac/Cotto winner is simply too big a fight not to happen. They've already pencilled in an early March date for the fight. I do think whatever happens, Arum will work his hardest to eventually get a Cotto-Margarito fight off the ground

Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
Yea right floyd offered shane a fight plenty of times and shane ducked em every time. Give me a break shane has almost no chance of beating the guy anyway. Mid-as-well give mayorga a shot too, he gave shane all he could handle for twelve, guess he's qualified too.
-
Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
Arum wants to keep it all in-house so if he can get us to buy the Pac v Cotto v Marg merry go round he would.
-
Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
Yeah Arum wants all the money for himself. I think the Margarito-Cotto will generate alot of interest if Cotto beats Pac. We all saw Cotto outbox him for most of that fight, once the punches started adding up with that extra pop you saw the fight turn. would be a sweet redemption fight.
-
Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
Arum is fcking ridiculous I know he's his promoter but how could you continue to stand by Margarito. Ridiculous fck Margarito I hope Cotto NEVER rematches him even though Margarito would be thoroughly fucked.
But Shane isn't being ducked. Raise your hand if you picked him to beat Margarito, it wasn't that many. I'm sure many would have rather seen him fight Clottey, Williams or someone like that rather then Shane. Before that no one really wanted to see Shane and Floyd, or it was never the marquee fight to be made at least for the past few years.
-
Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
(raises hand) What?!? You are high on crack if you think the fans dont wanna see Floyd Vs Shane, thats been the mega dream fight since late nineties at lightweight.

Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
Mosley is being locked out but I don't they Pac, Cotto, or PBF are ducking Mosley because they are fearful of him as a fighter. Mosley is just not a big money fight. Mosley/Cotto wasn't even a PPV, Pac would probably fight him but Roach doesn't want to fight him for whatever reason, PBF is all about money first and knows that Pac or Cotto is a much better payday than Mosley. Boxing is more business than fighting nowadays so this does not surprise me that Mosley is the odd man out. The Super 6 tournament is a miracle in today's era of boxing.

Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
Boxing suffers when fighters fight JUST for the most money and no glory. That's all I have to say about that.
What ever happened to wanting to be the best? Cotto has fought the best guys at Welter, like Shane has. Fuck Floyd, who honestly cares anyway? We all know what he is about.

Yeah and an old oscar that bascially lost 3 out 4 fights with one victory over an inactive mayorga managed a split decision against floyd.
Surely Shane at who's 7 out of 8 with his only lost in a toss up decision against cotto (who many feel shane will kayo him in a rematch) deserves a another big fight.
And only pussies justify "on he turned me down so now I'll turn him down", even though its a lie constantly being told by the floyd camp only. Besides like it or not Shane is the Number 1 WW in the world regardless of his age or what happened ten years ago.
It makes more sense that if Floyd been offering him the fight because he wanted to fight him, that now that he's ready he'd take pleasure getting a chance to beat him up. Esp considering that he's ten years older...Just doesn't make sense.

100% agree. :)

Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
The only thing Margarito should have the right to fight against is a piano or an anvil falling from above.
if ever Bobby makes the Margarito-Cotto fight to happens, he deserves to be beaten up with a giant cast made of Paris plaster. This is one of the dumbest and more ludicrous thing I've ever heard, especially as Bob himself ranted against Luis Resto in the documentary concerning the Billy Collins-Luis Resto Fight.
Fu** Bob Arum, Dot.

The problem here is multi layered.
1) You are way off. its been documented on 2 seperate ocassions that Mosely turned down Mayweather.. Thats not a lie from his camp
2) Floyd beats Mosely and gets ragged on from all of you same people who are calling for this match, because you will say Floyd beat an old mosely and wanted a cheap title, when he should have fought Cotto the guy who beat Mosely, except if Floyd fought Cotto the guy who beat Mosely then Floyd is picking a guy who lost a step because of the Margarito and Clottey wars, BUT WAIT!!!! he should really fight Pac because he KO'd 2 guys faster than Floyd Ko'd and decisioned and beat Cotto, just to have all you say he beat Pac because he was smaller and Floyd dont fight real welters:rolleyes:
Do you see the same old story here? Very tiring the constant nitpicking

If Floyd steps in the ring with a real legit welterweight I would be happy and he would get my respect. There are no other layers to dissect my friend. ;)

I consider it funny how people think it would make any difference if Floyd was in with a "legit" welterweight when Floyd has went up to 154 to beat oscar in oscar's own weight, in his ring and under his promotion. You really think Floyd, who has done that would be troubled at all by someone his own size when he's beaten people bigger?
It's also funny how people lose their "legitimacy" when fighting Floyd.
You're guaranteed that Floyd will fight either Shane or the Pacquiao/Cotto winner. But if he fights neither and fights Berto then it will be "when will he fight a LEGIT" welterweight again. Even though Berto is one.
Realize you don't give a damn if he fights a "legit" welterweight. You only care if he fights someone you hope can beat him. Like Shane and Pacquiao. Both of whom have no chance in hell of beating Floyd. But I guess people can dream :)

By that logic he just retire then because, if the number 1 pound for pound fighter (pac) and number one WW (shane) have no chance in beating him then who's there to fight? Because if these two guys don't generate enough money for him to already fight them no one will.
I do agree that pac has about as much of chance as beating floyd as laila ali. Shane and Cotto on the other hand do. Esp a confident shane with NAZ in his corner. It will all be settled if Cotto bashes manny's head in. The very best I can hope for is cotto and pac fight a war that is determined by a split decision and arum leaves floyd out in the cold because he quickly sets up a rematch between his two fighters. Forcing floyd to face shane.

Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
I respect Floyd for taking on ODH at light middle. That was not a peak ODH, not the one that beat Vargas. Respect is still due for that victory. Shane would beat him, and Floyd knows that.
-
Re: And The Ducking of Sugar Shane Continues...
Bottom line is either Floyd fights the winner of Cotto-Pacman or he fights the winner of Mosley-Berto (if it actually happen). If he fights either of those guys I'm a happy guy (maybe not Berto so much). Nobody is going to discredit Pacman as not being a legit Welterweight if he smokes Cotto. It's a win-win for Floyd. He makes the most money and fight the legit guy everybody wants to see him fight.
If not who will he fight? I bet Arum tries the hardsell to Mayweather and dangles JMM-Pac 3 in his face if he doesn't sign. Either of those is a good fight.
