now this is a good HW fight. here are two HW fighters who can in-fight with a high degree of technical aptitude (ibeabuchi more so than tua)
much much better than klitschko-lewis.
i've no doubt ibeabuchi would've slaughtered wlad.

Ike would have broken Wlad's jaw. Ike would close the distance on him and hurt him badly. Ike by Ko whenever he felt like it.
It is - though Byrd is alot quicker of foot and harder to hit than Wlad. Is Wlad's jab harder than Tuas hooks? Nope - so Ike will keep coming and keep coming and Wlad would have nowhere to escape. Wlad don't like pressure and Ike will bring it along with that high volume of punching and his granite chin.
Ike by Ko.
Ice...that you buddy;D.Have been rethinking both of these guys alot lately.Honestly Ike was fed on a collective run of 50/50 fighters until the Tua fight.Awesome vs Tua and Byrd...but that was it.Helluva fight and showed the best and worst of Tua.Like Tua,but think hes become over rated.Ike also but we'll never know how he would have ended up.That lack of self control and focus could have very well carried over into the ring against top tier fighters and come back to bite him.
maybe i'm overrating ibeabuchi.
i think he just catches wlad after being outboxed for a few rounds.

Ike was a strong physical fighter with a weak mind. And he would have been found out eventually. I think his frustration with the way Wladimer fights would have boiled over and he would have had a break down in the ring. Ike had everything except a mind.
I think Ike would've been a nightmare for Wlad. But I think Vitali would beat Ike by decision. Ike was a murderous puncher with a cast iron chin. Wlad would have to resort to footwork and staying away from Ike getting in all 12 rounds because Wlad's questionable chin would be getting hit by the strongest punch they have ever taken. I just can't see Wlad dancing around avoiding a crashing bomb for 12 rounds. Wlad had scary moments against Samuel Peter. Ike is a more polished Peter, harder puncher, better chin, and more relentless. I would be worried for Wlad in this fight. His chin is his weak link.
Wlad would have destroyed Ike......Ike overpowered his fighters which is what everyone thinks they can do to Wlad (all they need to do is get to that glass jaw, should be easy)...then they taste the jackhammer jab, straight rights, and left hooks..........
Wlad and his supposed glass jaw are KO'ing universally recognized top 10 heavyweights every fight......
Not being biased cause I'm a kiwi but I thought Tua won that fight!
But your right it was a great fight. If I remember right I think one judge had it 117-111 for Ike; now that's BS right there. No way was it that wide.
I'm hoping Tua takes on Kali Meehan next as it would be another big fight for NZ!!!
BTW I think Wlad decisions Ibeabuchi
I Think Ike Would Have Been World Champion If He Didnt Go Off The Rails He Had Everything But Lost His Humility And Went Crazy And Now Rests In Prison Where He Isnt A Model Prisoner And Probably Be In There For The Rest Of His Life....but I Personally Think If He Had Stayed Spritually Disciplined(kept Religious And Devout Which He Was When Fighting Tua)and Humble Would Not Have Got In The Trouble He Is In Now...the Saddest Thing Bout His Tua Fight Was That He Developed One Very Huge Ego And Before A Crash Goes Pride....all Up I Think He Could Have Been World Champion He Had It All And Lost It All A Pity
Who exactly do we have on his record to conclude how he would fair vs a Wlad style let alone a sharp jabber.Anthony Wade???The man was fury vs Tua and caught a light Bird (I cheered) but what else.He was full frontal and walked in often...no straight set up.Solid Body combos and volume but dude had some flaws and less than 20 fights, seriously?
You bring up a good counter argument for Wlad but of course this is all a guessing game. Nobody will ever find out who would win. Ike was not even in his prime when he last fought so we must guess how much better he would've gotten. But with only 20 fights he already beat world class competition a couple of times in David Tua and Chris Byrd. Wlad hadn't beaten world class comp until his 36th fight. Maybe you are onto something and Wlad's style may have exposed Ike as one dimensional. We'll never know. But if we only go by facts then Ross Purity, Corrie Sanders, Lamon Brewster, and Samuel Peter all walked right through Wlad's jab and 3 of the 4 knocked Wlad out while the only loser, Samuel Peter, knocked him down 3 times. These facts makes it very easy to assume that Ike would have KO'd Wlad eventually due to the fact that Ike(who actually used head movement not just walking right in) was a much more murderous puncher, relentless pursuer, and had an iron chin. You pose a good question against Ike in this imaginary matchup but there is a very glaring question against Wlad in this matchup that can not be ignored.
Reminds you of Mike.Makes you day dream about a prime Tyson, prime Ike imagine if you could turn back the clock on Ike and they had gone along on paralleled lines and opponents then met up in their prime.
While Im day dreaming, turn back the clock on Tua and get him cardio fit real early on.
You are correct on Wlads chin being a huge asterisk.Once a guy gets opened up like that vs Sanders and gas out vs Brewster its totally valid to expect his beard to go brittle vs an Ike.Wlad straight up got blitzed in that one.Brutal.The Ross fight was a lifetime ago in boxing years and Thompson was always a big, strong, durable sort.Wlad took an acid test and though leading again he pooped out.
I think the Peter fight was as much chin/head as it was Wlad being as stiff as a board and very tense. He controlled it with jab and though dropped did not totally short circuit.Remained collected and came back at end.Wlad learned alot that night.Almost a case similar to Peters fight with McCline.Dude was bounced like a ball with harsh kd's but came back and kept game plan for win.Think Wlad is much calmer, better thinker & better fighter these days.
I def am not flying a banner for the we love Wlad society and he at times bores the ever loving crap out of fans.Drives em to late night info mercials.Too much paw-jab-paw...right hand for many when they are used to heavys of old going the other way with it.For me its more a case of Ike and what exactly we came to know of him,in realistically only 2 live body fights. He beats Tua & sits out for over a year? The Ike of that night would cause many heavys to ask for a change of shorts and physically a beast with some variety in hands but was a head case as opposed to todays Wlad. The right night and right punch who knows, totally agree. Can see it and will go down as a huge 'what if'.We'll never know but I think alot of just that mystery puts Ike on a more generous plateau.
I think the fight against tua caused brain damage in ike. he was hallucinating after that fight and that's what lead to his life problems.
