Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
http://i35.tinypic.com/16lms6p.gif
Nice left hook Barrett did get up from this, but the ref soon stopped it afterwards.
Overweight Odlanier Solis (271 at the scales) stopped in-shape ring veteran Monte Barrett in 2 rounds yesterday. Solis said about the stoppage: "I saw a 40 second clip of Monte Barrett vs. Haye, and I noticed he'd lead the right had too far then he'd drop it. So I knew if I worked my left hook, I'd catch him.

Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
Perfectly timed shot. :o
He and Arreola need to shape up though, what's with all these young heavyweights coming up looking like an army of Buddhas?
I fear James Toney may have signalled in a generation of flab masters.

It was a great shot indeed, but he needs to lose a shit load of weight. Shocking really when you consider he was the HW Gold Medallist in '04 weighing around 200lbs and Povetkin was the Super HW gold winner and the most he has weighed as a pro is 229lbs and he doesn't look very lean at that weight but a hell of a lot better than Solis does at 270+ pounds!

Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
Solis looks like he's eaten Ricky Hatton;D

Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
...that fight meant nothing, we all know DAVID HAYE ruined Monte Barrett
Did I tell you or did I tell you, EASY KO for Solis out of shape or not

For someone that hates David Haye you sure do like to talk about him an awful lot. I'm sure he'd be delighted to occupy such a large proportion of your thoughts :p

The only thing more predictable than Solis KOing Barrett was that it would lead to you posting about David Haye ;D

lol... this is what I've been saying... to Lyle's credit this thread was at least almost vaguely related to David Haye, but... he talks about haye out of the blue in threads that have NOTHING to do with the guy at all. :-X
Infatuated.

Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
Good punch, but Barrett isn't anything much. Solis needs to lose about 40 pounds, he can't rely on every opponent being as poor as Barrett.
-
Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
Ok, he definitely has the power, he has the skills, now does he get the stamina to resist the day he'll get banged by a relentless machine? at 270, I am not certain and I agree with most of what has been said here: He needs to shed at least 40 pounds.
-
Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
Don't hate me for posting (and mocking) what all you poor bastards were thinking.
In reality this fight really didn't mean anything (but not because of Haye ruining Barrett which a few Brits think he did ). Solis was ready to fight Kevin Johnson and then Fres Oquendo....those fights would have meant more and I am pretty sure he would have done the exact same thing to either of those guys.
Sure Solis is horribly out of shape, but he has a significant advantage in olympic/amateur experience and he's a class boxer and those other guys would just be in over their heads. Solis IS going to have to get in better shape once he really steps up to the top contender level.

Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
...I'm sorry Memphis, I thought when Haye fought Monte Barrett it was a big deal? I thought it gave the man credibility in the division....that's what all the David Haye fans said and that's basically what Steve Bunce said.
Maybe I misremembered, but I do think someone wanted to chalk up Haye's win over Barrett as SOMETHING instead of as a tune up...perhaps it was leftylee

Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
Talk about rotund. He weighed over 270 and he's only 6'2!!!! Solis made Arreola look like he was in shape.

I thought as soon as I seen the title there would be something referrering to David Haye but I didn't think it would be Lyle to start it up. Shame on you.:beatdeadhorse:

That would make you the only person that did Lyle.
So we've quickly gone from did, to might have. The truth is no one said Haye ruined Barrett did they Lyle, its ok, you can say it, everyone knows.

Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
It does just go to show though that all this hooplah is being made of a guy who's fought only Monte Barret in the heavyweight division. Remember it was HAYE who said that he would be fighting a "top 10" heavyweight when it's obvious Barret isn't even a top 20 heavyweight. Haye just annoys the fuck out of me and I do think his skills are overrated.
-
Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
Don't get put out with me Memphis, I'm just trying to remind everyone of the grandure of David Haye. His fans are impressed with him, sure he's basically taken 2009 off and wasted the time of the Klitschko Brothers...but look at all of his glorious accomplishments :tumbleweed:
-
Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
Anything remotely to do with Haye (sometimes not even at all) and you're all over it like a cheap suit.
Just admit it, move on... ;D
We'll help you... keep this up and we're going to end up holding an intervention for you. :-X

Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
Adam, I'm just trying to get you Haye fans ready for what is going to happen to the guy. I'm looking out for your feelings, I have ONLY your best intrests in mind.
...also I am trying to figure out what this win means for Solis as opposed to what a win vs Monte Barrett meant for David Haye (IMMEDIATE title shot).

It seems like you'd rather make a point about David haye than discuss what the fight says of Solis' ability... but maybe that's just me talking...
I fail to see were you talk about Solis and a title shot, but never mind. I don't know how many times I have to repeat this: If the Klits are stupid enough to offer a guy a fight who hasn't earned it yet, then it's their problem.
-
Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
#1 Haye got 3 title shot opportunities directly after beating Monte Barrett and he bitched out until he got one vs the worst opponent. FACT
#2 I'll keep making point after point about Haye until either everyone accepts him as the joke that he is OR he shows everyone what a joke he is when he actually fights a decent heavyweight
#3 Solis is talented, he's been a heavyweight his entire pro career, we know what he's about..boxing, power punching, and apparently eating copious amounts of food and not doing any road work.
#4 Seeing how people do enjoy making comparisons I figured we had better bring Haye into the conversation, others that could and perhaps SHOULD be mentioned are: Cris Arreola, Alexander Povetkin, and Eddie Chambers as they are all around the same age/experience. But seeing how Haye fought the exact same Monte Barrett, I figured it would be nice to compare and contrast their performances vs the very same opponent.....is that so out of line?
-
Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
You're missing the point here aren't you... unlike you, I don't want to discuss David Haye's merits in a thread that isn't about David Haye.
You'd save a lot more face and spare further embarrassment if you just admitted that up until everyone who saw you doing it said so all you had done is posted about Haye and your opinion of Haye, contributing nothing to a discussion about Solis in a thread about Solis.
It's just pretty sad that you need to talk about Haye at any given opportunity, whether a discussion is at all related to him or not, you know that's the point I'm making... trying to draw me into the same old tired debate to distract from it won't work.
Everybody has seen it and no amount of smoke screens will divert anybody from the fact.
You want to talk about Haye fighting Barrett and not fighting Wlad bla bla bla? Post your own fucking thread about it then so you can go over the same old tired facts/disregard the Cruiser weight division entirely etc
This thread is about Solis
Suh-Ou-Luh-Ih-Suh

Yeah... you could have said
"Barrett was just knocked out by a bulked up cruiser weight, so this was a nice knock out... but it doesn't say that much about Solis"
Only you didn't say that did you? All you actually did was have a dig at Haye fans saying (things you made up) that "Haye ruined Barrett" (hahah what a thing to say...) and then go on to say that you're just trying to show haye fans the light... about David haye... in a thread about SOLIS.
-
Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
OK Adam let's try it this way.....
A grotesquely out of shape Odlanier Solis had no trouble whatsoever with Monte Barrett whom he dispatched in the 2nd round.
Or maybe this is better....
A rotund Odlainer Solis knocked out Monte Barrett whom he fought on short notice.
Do those make you feel better??? Don't hate on me because David Haye built up Monte Barrett as a "dangerous fighter"...apparently he's not as dangerous to Solis as he was to Haye

I fear James Toney may have signalled in a generation of flab masters.
guess you haven't seen the 217lb version of Toney recently? I didn't think he'd ever get back down there at all.

Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
hahaha Lyle... I'm not 'hating' on you at all... :-X anything I am doing is not because of anything David Haye has done... hahaha.
I can't be bothered to go around in circles with you whilst you continue to try and deny/divert away from the fact that your original posts in this thread were just saying something about Haye... nothing about Solis (in a thread about Solis).
-
Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
...dude, when Haye fought Barrett everyone (mostly leftylee) but EVERYONE compared Wlad's fight vs Barrett to what Haye did....and then they got all bent out of shape because Wlad didn't get knocked down by Barrett.
I'm just trying to ease the feelings of inadequacy they may be feeling since a Plump Odlainer Solis KO'd Monte Barrett in an easier fashion than David Haye did, and he didn't get knocked down in the process.....I'm here to help Adam....it's ok, everything is going to be alright
-

Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
The thread is also about Monte Barrett and well one can't talk about him without mentioning his EPIC battle with Britain's finest (attempt at) a heavyweight since Lennox Lewis

It's getting slightly ridiculous Lyle, rather than get even more out of hand and get the thread locked, you can just pretend that the above post is a new reply... because until you're able to stop embarassing yourself by trying to steer more and more away from the original point (and ironically making it stand even more by doing so) this post alone will do. :)

Re: Solis Knocks Barrett out in 2.
I think Solis could eat both Wlad & Vitali in one sitting!
Who wins Toney or Solis in an eating competition?

The fans ;)
It was a great shot that Solis had there, one of the best boxing brains in the heavyweight division honestly. The problem (which is not all that uncommon) is that he is training for fights with the assumption his fights are going to be easy. Someday, it won't be easy and his lack of dedication to his training is going to bite him in the ass. Either that or he has a heart-attack in the ring (looks like a goal of his).

i also think haye is a knob but i never mention him...
ON THAT SUBJECT THOUGH...
i think he loses to:
-Povetkin
-Chambers
-Arreola
but will probably beat Valuev.
