What specific fights have you seen of Ottke's that were clear robberies, Skel? I don't think the Reid decision was a horrible robbery, it was a horrible ref.

You know what bit unfair that and a bit tongue in cheek, I think the majority of Ottkes fights were close but I have to agree wiht the Reid fight, that has to be the most over rated robbery ever, like you say shocking reffering but a robbery nowhere near the worst.

Re: Worst Boxing Robberies. Fact.
Attempted robbery - That Danny Williams fight where the round stopped a minute early when he almost had the guy knocked out. Then had points taken off him for the crime of wobbling the guy with big rights.
Can't remember the opponent or the country - germany springs to mind but i've got a funny feeling it was in Spain. I think in Spain against a German...but could be the other way round. :p

Yeah that was in Spain, it was the promoter ringing the bell early and stuff.
I'm sure they were trying to rob Danny but considering they got KO'd it don't really count.

No it don't count, but must head the list of worst attempted robberies. Worst that i've seen for sure.

Agree on all of those except Abraham-Miranda. I thought once you took the point deductions into account, Abraham took it by about 2 points.
Figueroa-Augustus - USA.
In fact about half Emmanuel Augustus career & whichever country he was getting screwed over in at that time.
Chris John-Marquez - Indonesia

i agree a bit, but although it was a dirty fight on Miranda's part, i don't think he should of been deducted so much, hence why i feel he would have won anywhere else

Thing is tho once you give miranda the deducted points he still looses, he didn't loose the fight due to the point deductions, abraham would have won without em.

dunno how you figure that, cause going by ROUNDS, i had Miranda winning the first fight, the point deductions were what gave the win to Abraham, although it didn't really matter much in the rematch

Re: Worst Boxing Robberies. Fact.
Toney over Tiberi in AC. :puke:

Re: Worst Boxing Robberies. Fact.
It's pretty clear most robberies happen in the USA. But all the fights listed are pretty modern.
Can anyone name some recent (like the last 25 years) "robberies" of Americans, or USA based fighters, like Glen Johnson, in Europe?
So far we've only got Holyfield-Big foot.
-
Re: Worst Boxing Robberies. Fact.
You can list all of the robberies and fights that you want to - but we're only talking about high profile fights here...
Even if America has had twice as many 'robberies'... it's probably had 20 times as many high profile international fights as Germany etc.
So statistically - just listing the countries in which robberies have happened and tallying them is gash.
No smoke with out fire.

Tallying the countries isn't the point. Forrest Gump can workout America will have more robberies due to more high-profile fights. Fuck sake ;D
I'm trying to establish if the attitude of American's thinking they have no chance of getting a decision in Europe, or Brits thinking they need a KO to get a draw in Germany is actually based on any facts?
We should have MORE than a couple of instances, no?

Re: Worst Boxing Robberies. Fact.
I need Britkid, Scrap or someone that's clued-up on boxing history.
Recent Brit winners in Germany/Italy in "world" title fights.
Eubank UD over Rocchigiani in Germany.
Benn over Galvano in Italy (i'm adding that because i remember them screaming the Italians were trying to pull a stroke by making it go to a TD)
Thompson SD over R. Rocchigiani in Germany.
Nelson MD over Petkovic in Germany and SD over Cantore in Italy.
Yes i'm wearing an anorak. :beat:

Re: Worst Boxing Robberies. Fact.
wasn't Corey Spinks screwed over in Italy a while back?

Against Piccirillo. I can't rememebr seeing the fight but there are reports it was a controversial decision.

Re: Worst Boxing Robberies. Fact.
Listing Fights that happened in America against fighters who clearly are American or fight the majority of their fights in America are clearly Farcial.
People are pissed about the involvement of Europe's and UK's ref's in fights in addition to the decisions
Benn-McClellan
Hatton-Tzyu
Dirrell-Froch
Abraham-Miranda
Its clear what your trying to establish, but quite empty in theory

i agree, i mean i'm tired of corrupt judges, but it's in the sport in general, it's world-wide, not one specific place

Well name the dodgy decisions then? That's all i'm trying to get at. If decisions in Europe are so stunningly biased we should ALL know more than the odd fucking Holyfield-Valuev fight.
As for Europe's refs
American ref Randy Neumann did Abraham-Miranda and Panamanian ref Hector Afu did Dirrell-Froch. ;)
-
Re: Worst Boxing Robberies. Fact.
Marquez-John-Indonesia that's one for over seas.

Yes that classes him as European. Like Alfred Asaro who reffed Benn-McClellan is from Belgium/France which also classes him as European - hence why it was unnecessary to mention them.
