It premieres in about an hour, I'm actually pretty excited about this fight.
I can't wait for this!!!!!!!
You know I'm excited as all hell!! :yay2:
I've been trying not to think about the fight too much, because it's still a few weeks away, but I know that this will get me excited.
In more ways than one I'm sure. :lickish: ;)
'Heard it's the best 24/7 ever.
i have too agree with u mate, i think cotto is gonna destroy manny tho. cotto is such a strong fighter. i cannot see manny beating him. am i the only one on here, it makes me laugh every one talking about mayweather pacman. has every one forgot who manny is fighting
Cotto's new tattoos are badass.
OMG!!!!
I already know what I want to have Danny use to make me a new sigi with.
That shot of Miguel coming out of the pool...... OHHHHHH MYYYYYYYY!!! :lickish:
Pardon me while I go and replay that again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again....
;D
Well besides Miguel making me all hot, I thought it was a good episode.
I'm glad that they didn't leave out the adversities going on in both fighters lives, but I think they went too easy on Margacheato. ;)
I was hoping that when they were talking about Margacheato, that they were going to show the bit piece of Freddie Roach commenting on him. HBO as a video piece on their website, and I was hoping that it was included. Maybe it will be in a future episode. :dontknow:
If you want to see the clip, you can go here, and once you're on the page, click on the "Freddie Roach on Margarito" selection, in order to view it. I for once, totally agree with Freddie. ;D
HBO: Boxing: Event: PPV: Pacquiao vs.Cotto
So two hardly reknowned writers, I'd like to see the quotes, because last I saw Starks said the promo for 24/7 failed to excite. But really those are 2 guys whose opinions I'd trust no more than an average poster on here. Well, at least neither is Dan Rafael.
As for Arum, yes he's a completely impartial & reliable source ;D
Shit the bed, I half forgot how close this fight actually was. Woo hoo, getting excited now.
Diane, what's the score with Miguel saying he isn't a very good husband? has he been screwing around away from home? :o
Can't blame him to be fair, his missus is a bit on the fugly side. I'm pretty sure Miguel could have any women he wants in Puerto Rica but he's sadddled up with that for the rest of his days. Unlucky ;D;D
You heard wrong one of the most boring 24/7 I have seen, I wish they would concentrate more about boxing on these shows, no disrespect to Cotto or Manny but there no Mayweather in terms on charisma and pure entertainment, when you have to quiet humble guys like these two they should concentrate more on the boxing aspect of it.
Seriously though worst episode I have seen for a long time.
Yeah, some time back he unfortunately cheated on his wife, and knocked someone up.
That's the one aspect of his life that I did not like, he was young, immature, and cheated on his wife.
But, he's grown since then, and is at least having the guts to publicly acknowledge that he wasn't a good husband, and is doing what he can to repair his relationship with his wife, and I have to give him credit for that.
And, love is more than just about looks. ;)
For anyone that hasn't been able to see it yet, they have it posted on their website.
HBO: Boxing
I have to disagree with you on this one, and not because I'm a fan of Cotto's. ;D
To be honest, I won't even watch the 24/7's with Mayweather in it, because I can't stand watching him acting like a complete tool. I don't find that entertaining, and that tells me nothing about him, other than he's a complete a$$shole, which I already knew.
Plus, this was just the first episode, did you really expect HBO to totally ignore the devastation surrounding Pac's training camp, or not touch on Cotto's issues over the last year? They have to tell the whole story, and I prefer to get to know two humble men, than get to know a spoiled, insecure, immature child.
I'm sure they'll focus more on the boxing in the following episodes, but they were doing what the series is supposed to accomplish, which is helping us fans get to know the fighters in the lives, by showing what they've been through in the past, and what they are doing now, that brings them to this point in their lives.
That, and to help promote the fight of course. ;)
The episode was a good one. I prefer to get to know the circumstances surrounding the fighters which this episode was about, from the devastation of Manny's homeland to how Cotto has been able to rebound from his loss to Margarito. Much more preferable to Mayweather bragging about, "My shit is paid for and your's aint."
Is it just me or does Cotto's training seem....blah. He just slowly hits the mitts and the bags...with some jump rope in between. Obviously, they arent showing everything...but the early clips show a slow pace. Plus, every time they show his trainer, i get a bit nervous. The guy is so young! Tactics will be huge in this fight...i just hope Cotto's trainer has the experience to have a great game plan.
The production quality by HBO is worth it alone. I actually really liked last night, but that Cotto introduction with the African music during his warmup gave me chills. I am so fucken pumped for this fight. This deserves about 20 times the publicity that other fights involving the De La Hoyas and Hattons of the world versus Pac and Mayweather. This is an outstanding matchup. Cotto looks solid, go Cotto.
I'm looking forward to the fight, it's great to see Miguel much more confident in talking English now, both he and Manny have made great progress in this area which will surely make them more marketable.
Also, in a completely non gay, I have to agree with Diane that Miguel is one damn fine looking man.
I remember them saying before the Margarito fight that Cotto being slow on the pads and stuff is actually intentional. He goes slow to make sure he has his form right and then ratchets it up from there. Kind of the same thing when you are working out and they tell you to slow it down and focus on form. He definitely didn't come out slow versus Margarito he was very crisp and precise.
I'm surprised nobody is talking about whats going on in Pacquiao's camp, he's acting like a spoiled cunt(we can say cunt on here can't we?). He should listen to Roach, and I don't know why he pushing things to the limit between them.
I've watched Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7 and Pacquiao-De La Hoya 24/7, and this never happend for either of those fights. What the media says is one thing, but you can clearly see the frustration, Roach has always denied the reports, but in these episodes you can clearly see how angry he is.
Are you talking about the shot when they first switch to his training camp, when he has hair on his head, and he pops up into the camera shot, and they have him moving in slow motion towards the camera? If so, I'm right there with you, I actually got goosebumps with that, and still do when I keep watching it. ;D
Okay, I'll confess, I've watched this a few times now, and I have to praise the genius who came up with the quick 10 second rewind button on my DVR remote. Every time I watch this, I've hit that button probably at least 25 times at the scene when Miguel gets out of the pool. :lickish: :embarassed:
The Pac Roach feud is surely all promo Pac will be ready to go on the 14th
I hope so the times they said Pacquiao wasn't training hard were the Larios fight and the Barrera fight, and those weren't good enough performances to beat Cotto.
I enjoyed this episode very much. I think the display of both the Filipino and Puerto Rican cultures were a breath of fresh are to the 24/7 series. The soundtrack was awesome. I think I heard the song "El Cantante" and also a song played during the pool hall scene in "Carlito's Way." Sick! The Filipinos are a strong people and I pray for there road to recovery. Crazy how the group of folks were surfing down a river on a pile of banana leaves. The turmoil in Pac camp: usual Pac camp drama. Definitely concerned about Cotto's young trainer but Cotto's been training himself for awhile so I think he'll be ok. Also thought the Castillo segment was cool.
you know the group of people who was surfing on the raging river? almost all of them died when the pile of trash they where standing on hit the bridge.
it was a family with some neighbors who got swept away by the flashflood. may they rest in peace.
the politician wearing bright orange is senator manny villar who is running for presidency next year. i hate him even more for delaying pacs flight out of baguio.
cotto by far is the scariest opponent of pac, i wouldnt be surprised if cotto hurts pacs body. and distract him enough to get pac out of his gameplan.
pac should stop playing around and train 100% too much distractions for him this time around with the flooding and politics. he can defeat cotto if he can give him a hundred of punches every round.and avoid those sick body punches of cotto.
if pac defeats cotto i wonder what would be the new reason for haters and cotto fans... margacheato ruined him? he is past his prime? that cotto is an inferior boxer? what would it be this time? i hope this time if pac wins people will give full credit to pac and not make any excuses.
I was a bit disappointed by that, it hasn't got me pumped for the fight in the same way the Mayweather-Marquez 24/7 did yet. I found the stuff involving Pacquiao & the floods quite interesting & basically wanted to spend the time in their camp.
The Cotto bit was interesting when he was talking about Margarito but that was it. I already knew he likes to play around on his wife (who really isn't THAT bad) & it didn't really give an indication about how much he likes a drink, which I thought would be an interesting take on it regarding him making the weight. That whole section around the pool in Tampa was cringeworthy, in fact of all those shots of Cotto & his team just really made me think why they were spending so much time mugging for the camera.
End conclusion, it was alright, but its gonna have to get a lot better, in all honesty I'm slightly less excited about the fight than before I saw that.
Well, at least it doesn't have Joe Calzaghe in it. :p

Charisma personified
it was alright. but its just the first episode so it could get better in the next few episodes. i was bored at some parts though mostly pacs parts.
I actually liked the pool part, kind of an entourage deal and it is interesting that it's just those guys in the house shut off from the outside world. Like Bilbo I was very impressed with the leaps and bounds he made on his English speaking.
Yo mnmc10, that was terrible news. RIP to them and the hundreds of who have succumbed to the consecutive typhoons.
;D Gotta agree there Bilbo.
Last night in an attempt to get my girlfriend excited about staying up til the wee hours to watch boxing I said 'Yeah you'll love it, the one guy named Miguel is really hot, great body and cool tattoos too!!' :-X
She just looked at me with a worried frown across her face. ;D I was about to google image him to prove it but figured I'd quit while possibly ahead...
I didn't watch the Mayweather Marquez one and I'm not going to watch this one either. I've lost interest in thw whole 24/7 thing. I just want to see the fight, screw the commercial.
