Sure Ward may switch hit, but despite having 'reasonably' fast hands, his feet are fairly static and he does not use distance very well and seems rooted to the spot when the going gets tough

yeah I got Kessler as well, don't think he'll get the stoppage though, maybe a 8-4 on the cards.
If I was a betting man I would say Kessler, but since I am not I am going with Ward UD. Home crowd will inspire Ward, it won't phase Kessler though. People are really going to see something special from this kid. He is fighting him at the right time. Kessler hasn't fought anyone decent in a long time.
Kessler will dominate Ward down the stretch and possibly stop him. Ward is out of his league with Kessler.
ward starts off strong early on and maybe wins the opening 3/4round exchanges.
But by 5 kessler will be in his stride and picking off ward at will and by 8/9 ward would of run out of ideas and it`ll all be about whether kessler wants to stop him and whether ward has it in him to take a 12round beating!
Reckon wards corner may just get him out of there around 10/11
I can see Kessler starting strong and ending strong; might not stop him but I can see a 118-112 here.
Ward has the potential to win rounds against Kessler and it is in Ward's hometown. With the Dirrell/Froch fight, it may be too early in his career for Ward to fight Kessler. Right now and it may change as it gets closer to the fight, I say Kessler by split decision.
I think Kessler in 4. Not because Ward will get blown away, but I think Kessler will come out fast & try to surprise him & Ward will get caught with a few & will be stopped pretty early. I've no idea why I think this, I've just decided I will. Anyone know when the next round of fights is after this?

Poor Taylor couldn't even finish the comp. Dirrell stunk the joint out moaning and whinging like a baby. Shocking stuff for Team USA. 3-0 down Showtime will pull the plug.
All Ward has to do is stay upright to win. I've heard they've been speaking to Hopkins about helping Ward to perfect some acting moves in case the DQ becomes a necessity.
I love Kessler, but I think he was discouraged by his loss to Calzaghe. Ward could have been more active than he had been in the past, but he's picked it up and I think his heart is GIGANTIC. Ward by lopsided victory in the only American who doesn't lose in this tourney.
The only way Kessler loses is if it goes to the cards and he gets robbed. And there's a better than even chance he gets robbed if it goes to the cards.

This is going to be a better fight than some people think. Ward is fast and skilled. No offense to Andrade, but Ward will be his second best opponent, his second fastest opponent, and in he will be the best conventional style fighter he has faced. Andrade was pretty easy puzzle to solve for Kessler and Kessler was tough enough to stand up to the pressure. Ward's not the biggest hitter, but he probably has the best chance of hurting Kessler of anybody he has fought.
I still pick Kessler, but it's not gonna be a cakewalk.
My pick is Kessler especially on experience and power but Ward will want to prove everyone wrong.
Mikkel to take the victory but Ward will make him work for it.
Because it's in Ward's hometown, in a competition where an American fighter fighting away from home just lost a fight he really won. There'll be as much done as possible to keep as much American interest in the SS going as the money and the network behind it is American. I think if Kessler wins by a couple of rounds Ward will get the decision, he'll have to comprehensively outbox him to get the win.Quote:

The top European, the boxer most pick as the favorite of the tournament, is the first European to fight on American shores in the tournament. Not the best way to salvage an American win in the first round. If this was some conspiracy and they were setting up an American win, wouldn't they have had Froch heading to Oakland and Dirrell fighting Kessler in Denmark?
I tip my hat to Kessler. He is the champion and is heading half-way across the globe to Ward's hometown to defend his belt. Props. That said, I'm sure it is because he is confident he'll win. Otherwise, he'd demand his first fight to be in Copenhagen or Germany.

The Showtime interviewer basically told Dirrell he was robbed. The majority of fans don't think it was 50/50 they think Dirrell won the fight (check the polls). Most of that majority think he was robbed too.
By the way my initial comments about the robbery were meant tongue-in-cheek. But the more I think about it the more it makes sense for an American victory.

think we all know which is more beneficiary for them. Anyway im sick of talking about the fight. It was a horrible contest neither got any credit from. Froch won a very close decision end of story.
Yes again it would be a great result for SHO if ward were to take out the divisions top boy. But it certainly wouldnt do much for the ref or 3 judges both domestically and worldwide if this apparent screwjob were to take place.
Kessler will whoop ward and the hired states judges will score the fight completely fairly unlike those at showtime who will it inevitably have ward winning by a couple of rounds afterwards
