pac vs. pbf....thinking ahead
I would like to think that if Pacquiao survives the first two rounds vs. Cotto, Pacquiao will win the fight.....because in this two rounds, I expect the two fighters to unleash their best punches against each other. Cotto will try to corner Pacquiao then throw his vaunted lefts. And I am sure PACQUIAO will be hit solidly.
Pacquiao will throw bomb combis all the way. I expect Cotto to withstand MANNY'S PUNCHES IN THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS. After this, MANNY'S SPEED AND FOOTWORK will cruise him to victory by TKO, KO or decision.
Should Pacquiao survive the first 2 rounds vs. Cotto, I have reason to think ahead for a PAC VS. PBF DREAM MATCH.

Re: pac vs. pbf....thinking ahead
If you look at his track record Cotto isn't one to stop opponents early, he doesn't have that kind of power, his is more of a pummeling Marcianoesque pummel you down slowly type power. If anyone gets stopped early it would be Cotto because the longer this fight goes on the better Cotto will adjust to the rhythm of Manny.
I still think Manny will win because his feet are too damn fast, but I also think that Cotto is a very live underdog, and if he can fight Manny like he could Judah and MOsley then Manny won't win.
-
Re: pac vs. pbf....thinking ahead
If Pac gets past Cotto for some reason I don't think PBF is next. I don't think PBF is going Pac next either. No real reason, I just see it not happening next. I don't want to believe that because boxing will stop the world for one night with a PBF/Pac fight.

Once cotto gets hit with a PACQUIAO combi in the first round,i am sure his head will get hot and go for the kill.

I have enough reason to believe that PAC VS. PBF will happen after or in case PACQUIAO wins vs. COTTO.FYI it is now being discuss in Vegas, money sharing is the only hindrance at present.Should an agreement of a 50/50 split will be put in paper, then the fight will happen.Even a 45/55 split will make the fight go.Of course PBF will get 55.
Las Vegas is anticipating a rousing victory for PACQUIAO against Cotto. And fittingly after the fans will demand for a PAC VS. PBF bout.....IMO

Re: pac vs. pbf....thinking ahead
it'll be Pacquiao corner, stamina and speed vs Cotto power, left hook and punch resistance, if Margacheato barely knocked him out at the end of the fight with plaster in his gloves (well, we can strongly assume though cannot absolutely prove it), I don't PAcman can knock him out neither but can perhaps slow him down progressively with some barrages of punches. On the other hand, if Cotto connect a couple of time to the body with the left hook, it can be an early evening.

Re: pac vs. pbf....thinking ahead
Manny Pacquiao is a human buzz saw while Cotto is a titanium axe
Cotto starts slow but he is working on throwing more punches. All his fights have been measured for distance and he avarages about 60 punches per round.
Against Manny, Cotto will be going for more out put and is looking for 80 punched per round. I am not sure if he can keep that pace up or not? Not sure if he over trained but Cotto is not known for over training anyway. If you compare the punch stats to Cotto/Mosley and PAC/JMM, you might get a better idea of who will be doing what. Cotto is not that bad in this dept and he is going to increase what he does.
Careful how you pick this fight boys.
The Illusion is almost over.
Cotto wins it.
I don't want to see either fighter get knocked out but I can see Cotto stopping Manny in 9
:o
I know people will call me crazy etc, just like they did when I said Manny would stop hatton in 5.
People are putting the cart before the horse and are already reserving yankee stadium for PBF vs PAC.
Cotto said, I don't care what these fools do. After I beat Manny they can fight on Mars for all I care.
lol

Re: pac vs. pbf....thinking ahead
all you have to think about is that Pacquiao's gonna take a beating for 5 rounds then crumble, Cotto's best asset is that he keeps his cool, and he breaks you down round by round, if anyone goes crazy going for the kill in the first 2 it'll be Manny Pacquiao

I dont really see Cotto keeping his cool when he tastes the 4 to 5 combi punches from PACQUIAO.He will taste these combis maybe twice or more times in the first round cos Freddie really is out to get Cotto lose his cool so he couldnt think and get an advantage psychologically in the fight.Freddie is aiming for Cotto to be out balanced the whole fight. That is their strategy to win.And once Cotto loses his cool;its game over.
btw I see Manny as the coolest pug in boxing.Very clean and sportsmanlike fighter.

I recognize the chance for MANNY losing the fight for two reasons.First he trained only for about 60 days.Second are the numerous distractions in his training.HBO 24/7 showed these defects in Manny's training. But being a Pacquiao believer, much more with FREDDIE in his corner,i still have faith MANNY will pull thru at the end of this fight.

Good luck, I am not especially a huge fan from both fighters, I only want a great fight no matter who wins in the end.

ummm Pacquiao's not the hardest puncher that Cotto has faced, hell he was whacked with bricks for 11 rounds, and he's dealt with blinding speed against Mosley and Judah, and well umm Pacquiao usually doesn't keep his cool in the ring, he gets whacked hard and he goes crazy, he also has had the habit of underestimating opponents in the past, Larios is the perfect example

of course it is, cause he's implying that Pacquiao's gonna shit himself if Cotto bangs on him in the first 2 lol

Re: pac vs. pbf....thinking ahead
Pac really needs to concentrate on Cotto and not even have any thoughts of Mayweather in there for this one. I think as long as he keeps his head he wins a decision, but I am not writing Cotto off.
As for Mayweather-Pac, I think Floyd is too...... everything for Pac.

It is my opinion.....Cotto always lose steam in the later rounds. And if MANNY keeps on with his speed, then that is it for Cotto.

he looked pretty strong in winning rounds 10,11, and 12 against Clottey, who could easily fight at jr middle...

IMO Cotto'S showing vs. Clottey was far from impressive,he almost lost that fight.btw Cotto won the rounds you mentioned but his punches has no more sting on it.I could see he was just hanging on in those rounds.Fortunately for him Clottey was commiting numerous mistakes cos of his losing his focus.

I doubt Pac's team will go for 45%. Pac's promoter said he wouldn't go for less than 55% so I'm thinking they want at least a 50/50 split. A lot of fights are discussed. Heck, some are even signed but never materialize. Plus, They keep talking about a rubber match with JMM and there are whispers of PBF taking on Salita if he beats Khan. I just don't see the collision course taking the proper route. I just sense it won't happen next. I just don't trust boxing like I use to and I'm getting that feeling again. Boxing needs this fight next if Pac beats Cotto.

and with that you prove that you know fuck all of how to score a fight, Cotto CLEARLY won the final 3 rounds, Clottey did next to nothing and Cotto outboxed him and landed the harder shots, and you're trying to make it sound like if he was fighting some C level fighter, Clottey could easily be fighting at 154, usually weight in the 160+ range come fight night, and the guy is a beast, strong as hell, and yet Cotto took his shots fine and looked the stronger of the two when it came to pushing around and getting his man on the ropes, that same Clottey would have beaten Pacquiao around the ring due to the fact that he's too damn big and too damn strong, just cause Pacquiao beat up a shot DLH, a bum in Diaz, and then a punchy Hatton (which is the only fight i give him credit for), doesn't mean he's gonna walk through Cotto, he's still the guy who was horribly outboxed by Morales, and the guy who should have two losses against Marquez, if you really analyze the fight, Manny's only real stand out advantage is his speed, and Cotto hasn't had probs with fast fighters up to now, he'll cancel it out with his own speed (which is underrated) and his incredible timing, TKO win for Cotto by around the 5th or 6th

Re: pac vs. pbf....thinking ahead
If we are looking ahead to a potential Pac Mayweather fight, I think regardless of what Pac does with Cotto, he would not beat Mayweather..
For me to give Pac a serious shot against Mayweather, Pac would have to have the same speed and dynamic that he has now, but as a natural 154 pound fighter who is coming down to fight Mayweather.. He's just to small and does not have enough to even come close to overwhelming Mayweather,, and that is what it would take to beat him...
But would still be an interesting fight to watch how Mayweather could show his skill against a different type of fighter in Pac.

I've been thinking about this and I think Pac could make Floyd look spectacular. Floyd is the best counter puncher in the world and his timing is phenomenal, couple that with Pacs sometimes reckless stlye and I see Mayweather pulling him apart and stopping him mid rounds.

Cotto hasnt produced a world class performance post margarito
Didnt impress against jennings and went completely off the boil in the middle rounds against clottey. Dont get me wrong to beat joshua you have to be a world class performer. But for me the cotto the pre-marg would of had clottey out of there late on and not rely on a close decision.
If its the cotto that turned up against margarito i just dont see pac being able to handle his power and accuracy. Pac will out land round after round but that wont bother miguel if the big counters are coming

he's had 2 fights since the Margarito fight, and well Jenning's was more a track star than a fighter (and not even effectively like Dirrell and Haye to a certain point), yet Cotto still stopped him, and like i said Clottey would make it a rough night for anyone, even more so when you have a huge gash over your eye since the 3rd round, IMO if Cotto fought Clottey again and didn't end up with a nasty cut again he would beat Clottey a lot clearer and a lot more dominantly, Clottey's no push over and will give anyone fits

Re: pac vs. pbf....thinking ahead
I believe that if Cotto treats Manny as a legit WW this fight will be over inside of 9...
Manny's best chance to win is only if Cotto takes him too lightly other than than, Manny will be battered around.

Re: pac vs. pbf....thinking ahead
I would like to qoute some boxing experts i know....
Freddie Roach, when ask what he will instruct MANNY on the fight...says"We are going to knock him out!"
Gerry Penalosa, asked if MANNY can carry the big punches of Cotto;answered "THE PROBLEM IS IF COTTO'S PUNCHES CAN HIT MANNY.WITH MANNY'S SPEED I DOUBT IF COTTO CAN HIT HIM."
Chino trinidad,Filipino boxing commentator says."YOU CANNOT HURT,WHAT YOU CANNOT HIT"
Goodluck to both fighters come November 14.

In other news Manny Pacquiao's mum & dad think he will beat Cotto. Just curious, when did Pacquiao become this elusive defensive master?

not shocking to hear Pacquiao's stablemate pick him, and Pacquiao's been tagged by slower punchers than Cotto, Manny has punching speed, he's far from being a defensive wizard

again another case of the home guy getting the edge by a hometown commentator, Felix Trinidad (who can't stand Cotto) has picked Cotto to win by decision
lets see some neutral opinions from guys who have something to do with the sport

Goodluck to both fighters come November 14.
In other news Manny Pacquiao's mum & dad think he will beat Cotto. Just curious, when did Pacquiao become this elusive defensive master?
Manny is an offensive hard to hit kind of fighter.not an elusive defensive master.
btw even MANNY'S dog predicts his boss's victory.lolz

Pacquiao is set up nicely to be taken apart by a counterpuncher. I think he wins this fight, but the fact is it's easy to not be hit when your opponent is not that good (David Diaz), weight-drained (Oscar) or fighting like a drunk (Hatton). I think he beats Cotto, but Pacquiao is not hard to find if you're a healthy accurate puncher, which Cotto is.
Only 3 other guys he's fought I can say that about (bar Oscar for the reasons above) & that's Barrera & Morales to a point, & especially Marquez who for me is possibly the most accurate puncher in the sport.
Pacquiao is not hard to hit, he just had a good chin at the lower weights. He hasn't been caught by anything in a few fights. I think he wins this because I suspect Cotto is damaged goods & will give away too many rounds so as far as I'm concerned Pacquiao makes it to the final bell he wins. But the fact is at some point Cotto WILL catch him. We'll have to see how Pacquiao handles it.
