Majority fans and analysts don't know S**T about boxing!!!
And it's making me sick to my stomach. Being an avid boxing fan, I'm quite amped up for the Cotto/Pac showdown. What's really irking me is how so many MORONS out there who claim to know anything about boxing, actually beleive that Pac will stop Cotto specifically in the early rounds!!!!???
Are you kidding me!? It's bad enough for those who see Pac as a 3-1 favorite but to think he will stop Cotto?!!? Do these so called boxing fans and critics know anything at all about Cotto? Cotto has taken the best shots from Zab and Mosley and was never knocked down (I mention these 2 fighters specifically as they are in the same vicininty in terms of speed as Pac but hit much harder!). Cotto took a pounding from a huge 147lb'r in Marg and STILL wasn't knocked down...that too with possible plaster'd wraps.
How anyone thinks Pac who is coming up in weight to a prime Cotto at 145lb (still a bitch move on Pac's team to force Cotto to meet 145lb and fight a possibley weight drained Cotto ala ODH) is beyond me.
Unless the weight drain has effected Cotto (we'll know this in the first few rounds) there is no way IMO, that Pac stops Cotto...in fact, I'm calling Cotto to win a UD.
Too many people are getting carried with Pac's 2 previous wins over 'keeping my hands down Hatton' and a past his prime, severly weight drained ODH. People really need to wakeup and put things into perspective...
I will say this...It's a releif at least on this forum it's more evenly split in terms who posters feel will win...but others forums and articles I've read have Pac an 8-1 favorite!?!? Unbelievable

Re: Majority fans and analysts don't know SHIT about boxing!!!
Its only natural. The same people were probably saying that he would hammer Hatton early and probably got laughed at accordingly, no way he could starch Hatton early right? He landed the kitchen sink on Diaz and the ghost of ODLH and still took what was it 8 rounds a piece?

Re: Majority fans and analysts don't know SHIT about boxing!!!
I think Cotto will savage Pac and stop him in the mid rounds

Re: Majority fans and analysts don't know SHIT about boxing!!!
Its an exciting and intriguing match up and personally i cant wait for saturday night as ive been looking forward to it for months! I honestly cant pick a winner, its a 50-50 fight as far as im concerned. How will Manny deal with Cottos power? How will Miguel deal with Pacquiaos speed? I LOVE IT! ;D

More I think about it the more I see it the same way. For long couldn't decide and thought it could go convincingly either way. Cotto has the defence and toughness to withstand Pac who'll struggle to cope with Cotto's strength and power. Some fans got carried away when Ricky KO'd castillo, suddenly he could do the same with a prime Weler with the best D in the buis, I think people will be in for a similar rude awakening on Sat night, though I'm hoping for a competitive showing.

Re: Majority fans and analysts don't know SHIT about boxing!!!
It's even more moronic to claim Pac can't KO Cotto early.
You're gonna look like a proper mug should this happen. Pac has a serious speed advantage, he hits hard, Cotto doesn't have a great chin.
Good luck. ;)

when has Cotto's chin looked weak at 147 lbs? it took Margarito 11 rounds to stop him and that was most likely with cinder blocks on his hands, and when has he been hurt by a smaller guy at 147?

I do agree with you here Fenster.
One thing we should all know for certain now is that you never know what's going to happen in boxing.
Yes I think Cotto will be too strong for Manny. Yes I can't see how a guy who beat Shane Mosely, destroyed Quinatana and beat up Zab Judah, and got a win over Joshua Clottey, can be beat up and knocked out by a former flyweight.
BUT I thought Manny would lose to Oscar, I thought him and Hatton was for certain a 12 round fight and I expected the size and strength of David Diaz to cause him problems.
I think Cotto's chances have been underestimated by the fans and media alike, but this is a fight that I just don't know for sure how it's going to go.
My head says Cotto wins in the late rounds, but I've bet against Manny a ton of times before and he always suprises.
It's probably wisest not to say too much before the buildup to this fight as a lot of people will end up with egg on their faces methinks.

where's the fun sitting on the fence? anything can happen in boxing, but I'm going for Cotto to take over and maul Pac in the mid rounds.

Re: Majority fans and analysts don't know SHIT about boxing!!!
I don't think it's fans and people not knowing shit....i'ts more that everyone is entitled to thier own opinion and people see fights different ways. That's the thing about boxing you can think you know all you want then boom out of the blue pac beats oscar, buster beats tyson so on and so forth. After every fight half the people picking are wrong right off the bat but i wouldn't say thier stupid. This is a sport of inches, turn your head the wrong way, mis-anticipate and al that training and so called "know" can go right out the window. Some pick pac, others cotto. There are arguments to be made for both sides. Myself i think if cotto tries to go in there and so called "beat up the little guy" he'll loose. If he goes in there and boxes and uses his advantages smartly he'll win. Hey if anyone i don't know shit, i very rarely pick any sport right.

Your Quote " The majority of fans don't know shit about boxing " ?
Well let me start by saying , that personally I am going for a PACMAN win inside 6 rounds . But i like both fighters as they are exciting to watch , and I will be happy whoever wins.
As for opinions like mine " making you sick to your stomach" I find this laughable at best.
Not only should you take time away from masturbating furiously over pictures of the love of your life Cotto , myself and many other fine posters on Saddo's were watching boxing when your were a "GLINT IN THE MILKMAN'S EYE" . If by any chance you are not a prepubescent teen , then you are a mere idiot.
So to sum up your Highness , every one's opinions differ , that's what makes boxing great to watch and discuss.
More to the point thats what makes SADDO BOXING GREAT.
The prosecution rests.

I was really shocked at how evenly divided the polls have been here. It's a true 50/50. I have never seen a fight so closely divided down the pike.
I myself am picking Cotto via 8
You can't blame people for picking Manny though. Even I have straddled the fence once or twice but I think the reason why I wavered in the beginning is only because Cotto was destroyed by Margarito and no one is really sure if Cotto is shot from it. Add Santiago to the equation, the 2 pounds catch weight and Cotto's last performance vs Clottey and you have a possible Manny win in your head.
The truth is, anything can happen in this sport. Fighters have been knocked out by a head butt and have gone on to lose a fight otherwise which they might not have. Holt/Torres for example :o

hey said that Mosley and Judah hit harder than Manny and are about as fast, not that Judah is better than Pacquiao, and it's a fact that both Mosley and Judah hit harder than Pacquiao, so not really unbelievable

Re: Majority fans and analysts don't know SHIT about boxing!!!
I've made like a dozen phone calls regarding boxing this week alone. My phone is practically ringing off the hook (although I do most of the calling), it's been quite a time. I subscribe to that informal theory that the number of phone calls one makes is what determines who's in the know. I figure I have to rank up there this week, I can truly say I sympathize with the likes of Gary Shaw and Dan Rafael, fat men (not me) who talk all day on bluetooths (that's speculation.)
But if we're going off predictions I predicted Julio Cesar Chavez Jr's last 10 fights all accurately.
-
Re: Majority fans and analysts don't know SHIT about boxing!!!
I re watched Cotto-Clottey last night.
I had a completely different view than when I saw it live. Then I thought it was an unimpressive win for Cotto, one that could have easily went the other way if Clottey pushed for him.
I've always thought Pacquiao would stop Cotto late, but after watching Cotto-Clottey again Im not sure how pacquiao would do it. Cotto went 8 rounds with that horrible gash, dug deep and forced himself to be the aggressor.
I also noticed Cotto keeps his right glove high but always drops his left, which was the side his eye was cut and still has fresh scar tissue as of yesterdays press conference. If pacquiaos right jab and hook look as goood as it did against Hatton then win or lose Cotto is going to be a blood mess again.

i have too agree with u fella. i sometimes go on boxingscene too read the news and the amount off shit people come out with is unbelievable, childish shit. its not so bad on here. there is no way pac will stop cotto early. cotto is a very polished fighter. i do believe pac will lose this fight. but i suppose anything can happen. but logic says it goes a good few rounds before anyone is stopped
-
Re: Majority fans and analysts don't know SHIT about boxing!!!
nothing is unthinkable in this fight...
If Pac KO'd Cotto early people will say we should have seen it coming, he did the same to Hatton, Cotto hasn't looked great since the Marg debacle and he was forced to get down to 145 (which I don't think is a problem).
If Cotto gets the early KO, again people will say we should have known, Cotto is a true WW and Pac is not anywhere near really. Pac has taken credit from fighting 2 over the hill fighters and looking awesome it was never going to happen here.
If Pac wins a decision (which is what I've gone for) people will say well Pacs speed was always going to be the telling factor in this fight and Cotto was never going to risk another KO after what happened against Marg, and he hasn't exactly looked great since that fight.
And if Cotto wins a decision it would have been obvious that he would control the fight due to his size advantage.
The only thing I can say is the last 2 Pac fights I have gone against him and both times he has shocked the hell out of me, not only in how he took the fight to the bigger men but the way that Freddie Roach pretty much predicted how he would do it too!
-
Re: Majority fans and analysts don't know SHIT about boxing!!!
I find it funny how someone reads stats or figures weight class are the only things that determine stoppages. No matter what the numbers are, the regardless of weight or history of the opponents... The punches that can get you are the ones you never see coming. Perfect example, being feather fisted Corely having Cotto dancing on queer street before.
Margarito was a murderous puncher (with or without plaster), but his punches could be seen coming a mile away. Mosely stood in front of Cotto and tried to slug with him a good part of the time instead of using his foot work and angles and timing. Judah used angles and speed and rocked Cotto too, then Cotto went to the cup twice.
The fact remains that Cotto is wide open for the uppercut all day, every day and he has a bad habit of dropping his hands before he shoots his punches and is bad at defending consecutive body head punches with the same hand. On top of that you have an experienced trainer looking to exploit it all. The window of opportunity is definitely there, whether people want to believe it or not.

I agree Pac is fast, also he hits while bodily on the move and goes out on weird angles and covers his path with a cross.
He can catch other more routine style fighters cold or even worse on a turn trying to follow him (the target.)
Thats why someone intent on removing him wont be able to . I think it wil take a text book skill of control and making him pay for his mistakes to be able to beat him. Cottos needsto be in the zone from before the fight right through it,with no preconcieved ideas about how it will go.
But you never know if Cotto fights to the letter and holds control over his own centre line and keeps Pac where he wants him ,comes out from behind the jab and does it when he earns it, in controlled spurts (Then Pac will pay and may feel it harder than he has ever done before.
Ii live in hope. Go Cotto.
But I wont be so dissaointed if Pac wins hes a great Champ great for the sport anyway.
Just God help us with his not so humble fans telling us which way the wind blows all based on one fighter and how they are the prediction kings of all time.

Sounds like this guy knows his stuff.
It sounds like that guy is spinning off the planet into outta space..
But you can't really argue with his logic...

Re: Majority fans and analysts don't know S**T about boxing!!!
Well I guess I plead utter dumbfukkery about this boxing thingy then.Damn, all those wasted years ugh...I have been back and forth on this one and do believe,Now,that Cotto will upend the Pacquiao train Sat night. On the other end I can absolutely envision a scenario where Manny tenderizes Cottos face into a mess, early or late.A stoppage does not have to translate into an physical dominance, having to be a stronger puncher and keeping an opponent on the canvas for it to be realized.Back to the result though....I think Pac walks into some stiff shots as it goes rounds like he has not tasted over the last few years.Think a bloody Cotto stops him in 10.

I heard he was being modest when he said a dozen. You guys don't even know. That's the problem.

Lawton KO joker was a fucking inspired pick, the guy only had 5 KO's in 26 wins, and he did it! And Matt Vanda came through, Matt Vanda, I was one of only two people on here to pick Vanda and CFH screwed it up by going with a UD. This just reinforces the fact that I am one of the few that knows what's up.
Fenster, um, he tries hard and is to be commended!

I picked Jason to beat George which was exactly correct. Of course I had a little help once they told me Jason was taking things seriously I knew he would win. Oh and I picked Brian Minto KO when he fought on national tv a year or so ago.

You're gonna look like a proper mug should this happen. Pac has a serious speed advantage, he hits hard, Cotto doesn't have a great chin.
Good luck. ;)
but he could take all the mosley could throw at him... the problem is although cotto can be stunned he recovers very quickly ... he wont still be wobbling round on bambi legs a minute later like hatton was in the first round
pac couldnt put a dent in DLH who was a sitting target, hatton had been hurt by a non - puncher in lazcano before this fight

Re: Majority fans and analysts don't know S**T about boxing!!!
I don't think Pacquiao will KO Cotto because of the way Cotto hides his chin but I do think Cotto will get cut above the eyes for the same reason. I don't see them stopping the fight though because boxing's starting to get interesting again and that would just confuse a curious public. I think Pacquiao will win by decision. I think the fact that he's had three "easy" fights will actually work to his advantage. I think if Pacquiao fought a Morales 1 or Marquez 2 type war before this fight he'd get frustrated, eventually stand toe to toe with and get killed by Cotto. I think power will be the last thing on his mind. He'll be on his toes all night thinking speed, speed, speed in-score-out. As the fight progresses he'll land more combinations but a Cotto counter will keep him honest. I do think that if Cotto attempts to defend Pacquiao's straight lefts with the same shoulder roll parry he uses against left jabs he'll get caught by the same punch that hit Hatton later on in the fight though I don't see him getting KO'd. I think Roach has planned this. Plenty of speedy lead lefts like those used on De la Hoya early setting up the wide looping left hook.

Your Quote " The majority of fans don't know shit about boxing " ?
Well let me start by saying , that personally I am going for a PACMAN win inside 6 rounds . But i like both fighters as they are exciting to watch , and I will be happy whoever wins.
As for opinions like mine
" making you sick to your stomach" I find this laughable at best.
Not only should you take time away from masturbating furiously over pictures of the love of your life Cotto , myself and many other fine posters on Saddo's were watching boxing when your were a
"GLINT IN THE MILKMAN'S EYE" . If by any chance you are not a prepubescent teen , then you are a mere idiot.
So to sum up your Highness , every one's opinions differ , that's what makes boxing great to watch and discuss.
More to the point thats what makes SADDO BOXING GREAT.
The prosecution rests.
No need to repeat myself , but as i said at the time you are an idiot. ;D

Yep, you got that right! Some boxing fans don't know shit! The fight should have been stopped during the 9th, Cotto was shot after the 2nd knockdown, he ran for the rest of the fight.
