David Haye, biggest star in British boxing!
Its amazing what one fight can do for you.
Before he beat Valuev Haye was only known to sports fans but now he is a house hold name in Britain and is in the papers almost every day and seems to be on the tv on a lot as well.
He was on the Jonathan Ross show last night and came across well.
Its great for British boxing,I cant remember a British fighter having so much attention from the non-sport media.
Even if you dont think he is a good boxer you have to accept that a new star has been born.(in Britain at least)

Re: David Haye, biggest star in British boxing!
I am glad for Britain and if it can spark some more interests into boxing, it's good for everybody. I still do not like the guy much though and I am still certain he'll got sparked quite soon again.

Re: David Haye, biggest star in British boxing!
He was funny on the Ross show, should have had a longer slot. It was on during the Hatton fight which was boring so switched over.

I recorded the Hatton fight but haven't watched it yet. I heard on the radio this morning though that in one of the undercard fights both fighters put each other down for the count simultaneously!

I've always wondered...how does Haye stack up to a person formerly of his position as "England's Champion of the Fans" Frank Bruno?

Frank was loved by millions for over a decade who shared every success and failure with him.
Haye will be a one hit wonder and lucky to get an interview on the Don Omega show after John Ruiz beats him.

If there was a Haye-Bruno fight who would win? Prime for Prime of course

Re: David Haye, biggest star in British boxing!
Haye is a falling star with a big mouth, but this most people already realize.
I think Bruno would have KO'd Haye with little effort in his prime - even the prime Bruno that fought Tyson in 89'.
Haye is just a loud mouth that loves the sound of his own voice, which will undoubtedly soon be silenced.

Yep Cello Renda - Paul Samuels. Renda up at 4, Samuels up at 9 1'2. Samuels stopped him soon after. Cracking fight.

I'd go with Haye. Too fast and hard hitting for Bruno IMO.

Agreed, Haye would box and wait for Bruno to gas out and stop him late.

Re: David Haye, biggest star in British boxing!
People forget Haye unified the cruiserweight division, that's quite an achievment.
He then beat a guy who has only ever lost once and never been shaken.
I actually think Haye can be quite funny and think he has the skills to be very succesful. He looks far better now than he ever has done, so I'm not sure how anyone can say he's in decline??

Haye on Jonathan Ross was painful. He missed a high five then got punched in the bollocks by a dwarf!

It is amazing to think throwing 80 punches in 12 rounds , could make you so popular.;D

Re: David Haye, biggest star in British boxing!
Why do some people take david so seriously, when he talks??...I think haye has been a breath of fresh air in british boxing and he has livened up the sport and even reached out to those that don't like it.
Is it so bad that a a guy says exactly how he feels. No beating around the bush.???
I thought as usual,David came across as a very humble guy on the jonathan ross show.

Bell was stripped by the IBF (for not facing his mandatory on time) before going into the second Mormeck fight. So obviously never lost the belt in the ring.
So by rights Mormeck-Bell was for the IBF, WBA and WBC. Haye then beat Mormeck. And for good measure took the WBO title of Enzo Macc.

Yep.
Considering that the action less Valuev fight is the only Haye fight that a lot of the public have ever watched its amazing the way his popularity has sky rocketed.
