Pac:" I tried to pretend that it's not going to hurt but it really hurts "
Such an honest guy Pac heres some quotes from the after fight presser:
QUOTES FROM THE PRESSCON
ON BEING AN ALL-TIME GREAT BOXER
Bob Arum: "I will go on the record, and say that I really believe that Manny Pacquiao is the best fighter I've ever seen. That includes Ali, Sugar Ray Leonardhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adT...lass_10x10.gif, Marvin Hagler. The best fighter I've ever seen."
Pacquiao: "I think I'm just an ordinary fighter."
Roach: "You're not ordinary."
"He's as good as any of them. He's the greatest fighter of this era that's for sure."
ON FIGHTING MIGUEL COTTO ON THE ROPES
Roach: "I yelled at him every time: Why are you fighting his fight?"
"I can handle it, Manny told me."
Pacquiao: "The first three rounds I tried to measure his power. I'm trying to fight toe-to-toe. Of course I respect Cotto, but his camp they were always saying he was bigger and stronger. I wanted to let him know who was stronger and tougher in that ring."
“Our plan and strategy for the fight was not to hurry. We knew he was going to counter. We were very careful because we didn’t know what will happen.”
"I tried to pretend that it's not going to hurt. But it really hurts."
"It was one of the toughest fights in my boxing years. I took a lot of punches from Cotto. He's strong and he hits hard. It was all about being smart in the ring and pretending not to be hurt when you really are."
"I was trying to control the fight. In my mind."
MIGUEL COTTO MESSAGE
Cotto: “I didn’t see where the punches were coming from."
“I fought everybody. Manny is one of the best boxers of all time.”

Re: Pac:" I tried to pretend that it's not going to hurt but it really hurts "
Nice thread!
Got to say Pac did even better than I thought he could never mind would against Cotto and he is proving himself to be worthy of his p4p title at least until he fights Floyd that is.
As for being better than Leonard? I think Arum is taking his own fighters side a little here!! Can't blame him really, Pac is a brilliant fighter and I look forward to every fight of his. He must make Arum an absolute fortune!

Re: Pac:" I tried to pretend that it's not going to hurt but it really hurts "
Cotto actually hit so hard he gave Pacquiao a "cauliflower right ear". (check the videos) It needed to be immediately drained of fluids right after, otherwise tempting permanence.
It is a not so common "battle scar" in boxing, but a common one with MMA fighters, from all the grappling.

With you on that one.
Despite him being a really nice genuine guy, I wanted him to lose last night for exactly that reason.
From what I've seen of Manny I think he is still getting better and I'm sure once he's finished we will then be able to talk about him in the same breath as Leonard etc. Only going to be very, very tough fights from now on though.

Re: Pac:" I tried to pretend that it's not going to hurt but it really hurts "
I can't even tell you how much I was yelling at Pac for standing there and letting Miguel hit at his guard. That was not a smart move but I guess I give Manny credit for having a tremendous pair of balls. That guy is something else!

Hahaha.. I was yelling at him too when he stood with his guard up and let Cotto hit him.. I was also yelling at him to throw the left uppercut which I think would have ended the fight early.

I think pac is better than leonard because leonard ran and hardly fought in some major fights. I liked leonard when he decided to fight but hated him when he decided to run/

I think you have to realize most of those people are living in poverty and hardly speak any English, likely posting from internet cafes in the Phillipines. I work with a few Fillipinos and Manny is a HUGE source of pride for their nation, he is a hero to them and global embassador of their country... Of course the trolls around here are only serving to counter this by posting nonsense, but it's likely they don't have much else to take pride in, and you have to respect Manny all the more for having that impact on his people imo.

Thats exactly how I feel, I'm not a huge fan of Floyd Mayweather, I think he is an arrogant prick at times, but I think he is the best boxer in the world right now followed by Pac and should they meet I think Mayweather wins. But for saying that I am being attacked all over the place, "Pactards" ;D

There is no question as to Floyd being the best boxer. But I think Manny is the best fighter. It will be an interesting fight. I used to think Floyd, with all his skills, will box his way to a points victory, but who knows. Manny is so unpredictable and awkward. How do you train against that? Manny is much better than he was when he fought Marquez. So learning from the Marquez fight will not give anyone an advantage (ask Cottto, Hatton and DLH). With Floyd, you have boxing science at its peak. But his being so orthodox can be his folly. There are manny boxers you can spar with that can emulate (maybe not equal) the fighting style of Floyd. Freddie will have to solve the shoulder roll defense. But who do you get to emulate Manny as a sparring partner? Interesting fight indeed.

he is either completely inhuman in capable of feeling pain, or indeed the greatest fighter of all time!!

Re: Pac:" I tried to pretend that it's not going to hurt but it really hurts "
WTF is your pic hammer?
Anyways, yeah Pacquiao is awesome. I'm not sure he's better then Roy Jones or Mayweather, but he's pretty much accomplished a lot more then what either of those guys did. Unbelievable, I was pretty much in awe of Pacquiao after the 4th round though. When I watched the fight for the first time I gave more then 1 round to Cotto...I haven't rewatched it.

Re: Pac:" I tried to pretend that it's not going to hurt but it really hurts "
It was not part of Team Pacquiao's gameplan for Manny to stand in there and take Cotto's power shots. Roach got worried about that for a moment but Manny explained that he tried to measure or test Cotto's power since before the fight he keeps on hearing statements that Cotto is much stronger than him and fans asking/wondering what will happen if Manny tasted Cotto's power (or tasted a welterweight power).
It wasn't a smart move to many but I think Manny has proven something out of that. He was able to breakdown Cotto mentally by standing in there and taking Cotto 's power shots and able to hold his ground then firing his own power shots in retaliation. Manny sort of answered the question if he can take a welterweight power shots. If Manny didn't do that then that question still remains in most people's mind.

Re: Pac:" I tried to pretend that it's not going to hurt but it really hurts "
I'm honestly surprised that Pacquiao was able to take some of the shots he did and just not be slowed down at all. Both landed punches but it was only Cotto who slowed down. I think it took Cotto off guard, and he definitely didn't just mindlessly tee off on Pacquiao which might have been the way to go at that point. I don't know, what a fight though and what a performance by Pacquiao.

That is what is so great about Floyd.. He doesn't need to train against anyone.. He has his style and he is so good at it that it trumps anything that comes up against him...
On Pac though, love how he said he wanted to keep control of the fight and show he's the bigger stronger guy by standing and letting some punches land early.. He did probably take more than he needed too, and as a few people have said above, it gave a lot of us a scare as to how the fight might progress..
But with his mindset of keeping control, he had control from start to finish really.. Incredibly impressive when you are in with a guy like Cotto, and be able to not doubt you can take the best Cotto has to offer...
But I think when it comes to Floyd, that is going to be Roach's game... If there was EVER a fight in history where a fighter probably has the resources and physical ability to beat a fighter BUTTTTT needed an absolute superior game plan and coaching strategy, it would be Pac vs Floyd...

I'll admit, that i had doubts about manny before this fight and i thought cotto was gonna be to big and strong for him.
But boy was i wrong.I have to say that the pac-man is world class and really showed what a great boxer and fighter he really is.I now wouldnt be surprised if he beat PBF.But i still think pretty boy will beat him thou.

With the fact that Manny was able to take the punches of Cotto, I guess Mayweather will have the surprise of his life against Pacman.
Fearless prediction:
If Mayweather engages Pac: Pac by TKO before the 9th round.
If Mayweather runs against Pac: Pac by UD with knockdowns in between rounds.
