Could be fun for a while, I'd go with Marquez by mid round KO, not much faith in Ricky's punch resistance.
I don't see anything wrong with this matchup. A big money fight for both guys and a chance at a possible bounceback from tough losses. Marquez is too heavy for 140 IMO, but Hatton has huge question marks at the weight himself now. I'm all for it.
I think it will look a lot like Marquez - Diaz, except that Hatton hits harder than Diaz but has a worse chin. I'd heavily favor Marquez to win, but if Diaz can hurt him than so can Hatton. I'd expect Marquez to try and outbox and counter Hatton as he comes in.
I was wondering about who would train Hatton too? Obviously after Floyd Sr. walking out on him, he would go else where. Does Ricky beg for Graham back?
I'd imagine it would be Lee Beard. I'm not really a fan of Beard though and see him as a Hatton team yes man more than anything else. I can't see Hatton ever working with Graham again after all that has now passed. A shame really because they did well together all things considered.
PAC-JMM III If Marquez wins ;D
Punch resistance - This should be an official boxing forum term lol :D
fact : Duran got KTFO by Hearns at 154 yrs. later he was absorbing massive blows from an equally or even harder hitter in Iran Barkley.
so chin is now like a battery that runs out if you keep using it lol
If its in manchester i cant see anything other than a hard fought hatton points win that leads to him calling out the big boys once again.
It could be held in Hattons front room and all I could see is Marquez fucking him up bigtime.
Hatton needs to watch the Pac fight (his) as he apparently hasn't yet and it's said he still believes he was hurting Pac. he needs to accept what he is in terms of style and stop trying to BS the public about new styles etc etc
If he reviews that fight and thinks he has something left then he can focus and this could be a decent match up. if he is still harping on about PFP then someone should tell hm to stay out of the ring before he gets badly hurt, the problem is he probably doesn't have anyone in his own camp willing to be honest with him.
I lose more respect for him every time I see him between fights and for a guy who hasn't announced his retirement yet, it shows a lack of respect IMO for his trade. Does anyone know if he actually does any work at all between fight camps.(serious question)
Marquez will make him look like a complete mug. Hatton will get picked off so easily, and with his punch resistance dwindled, it'll be another early sparko loss.
on the plus side I get to dust off my Mexican flag and be hated by the people I sit by.;D Again. ;D;D
At this stage it's an easy night's work fOR jmm
good point
ricky can still comeback and prove he is up there with the great british fighters of the past 10-20 years ala:eubank, benn, calzaghe
But if he`s coming back with this whole "i wanna be the greatest fighter in the world" i completely agree he should just jack it in and stick to promoting.
Rickys a great fighter that brings shit loads of entertainment and could still quite feasibly pull in an 80`000 sell out over here and take another 25k odd to vegas.
But he has to accept his limits now and realise he doesnt neccesarily have to beat the very best to cement his legacy in this country at least!!
If this is in Britain, I'd have to see it to see JMM. I hope & think he would have Hatton out of there in something like the 7th or 8th round.
Marquez picks Hatton apart with combos and ends his night midway through the fight.
I'd go with Marquez on this one. I think Marquez would be better off not worrying about weight and go into fight at his natural weight.
Can Hatton even get down to 140 without risking health? He is chubby nowadays and used to get up to 170 when he was fighting. Now he looks like possibly 190. In the wrestling event he had to roll over just to get up. Either way, JMM makes this a mid round TKO. Hatton will always come in hard and JMM is a persistant counterpuncher.
Marquez is on another level than Hatton. He beats both Ricky and Matthew on the same night
Ricky is a much harder puncher and a better swarmer. Diaz is a better boxer and throws beautiful combos. Plus he has cool-sounding grunts. But the end result would be the same. Marquez would soak up Hatton's punishment and come out of his shell around the fifth and disassemble Ricky like legos. But Marquez has to be living on borrowed time himself with all the punishment he's taken throughout the years. The Diaz fight was the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how much punishment he's taken. I wouldn't be surprised if they both wobbled each other.
On second thought, Marquez will want to make a big statement to show himself as still being in the running for p4p. He would look to pull the trigger on Hatton early and despite Hatton shaking him up once or twice would pull off the KO in 4 rounds.
Marquez isnt Pac by a long shot(slower, alot less power, less movement).. should be a real good fight though because they will stand and bang!;D
Ricky's ego is clearly clouding his judgment.
He is past his best, he is fatter than ever, people say certain boxers have struggled to make weight before and it has drained them in the fight. Ricky must be at least 3 stone over his fight weight and for the sake of his family, someone needs to stop him.
I love Ricky, he was a honest fighter who just had no clue on tactics.
If he boxes Marquez I'm sure we will just see him exposed for the past it boxer he really is. A real shame to go out that way.
But should the fight be made, I'll still be rooting for him 100% as I like the guy.
I genuinely think feather fisted Amir Khan would beat him now.
Wouldn't have thought I'd have ever said that.
I hate to say it but I think Hatton will lose this. JMM is a better counter puncher than Pac and look what he did when Hatton went winging those left hooks in from the other side of the ring. The only trainer that could get that out of him is gone because he fell out with him (didn't listen anyway), and JMM is after Pac again to prove he has got his number.
I think the winner of this will actually get the loser of PBF-Pac (Pac).
