No kidding Ricky? Mayweather is the best defensive fighter i have ever seen, it comes as no surprise that the fatman would say this. Pacquiao is something out of the ordinary, Mayweather will need all of his defensive skills working to their maximum effect if he is to hold off Pacquiao for 12 rounds. Mayweather will not hurt Manny and my question is will he land enough to win a decision running all night long?

There's nothing really controversial about that, Floyd is better on D, of course Ricky should know considering he was winning the second round of the Manny fight by a country mile.

One of the funnier thing about that interview according to the article I read is that he then said 'Floyd is a boring fighter though, he never goes for the knockout' which I thought was hilarious ;D
Add that into Joe Calzaghe saying Mayweather should retire if he doesn't face Pacquiao because 'what's the point in being a boxer if you won't fight the best?' & Frank Warren criticizing Hatton for being a dishonest promoter who doesn't care about his fighters & you know there's some kind of flu going round the British boxing scene.
Next Carl Froch will be criticizing someone for being a one-dimensional slugger with a personality defect, whilst Amir Khan calls Salita 'chinny' :cool:

It will make for a great fight, as i said Pacquiao is out of the ordinary and he does operate at 100% at every second of the fight. Mayweather certainly has the skill to combat him and frustrate him, i don't think anyone else can beat Manny except Floyd.

MP wasn't nearly as effective when Cotto went on his bike. Now Cotto isn't really known for his great footwork and defence, Floyd is.
I'm sure people will now argue that MP 'let' Cotto run :-X

Saying Mayweather isn't a KO fighter is true and it isn't. It really depends on which version of him you get. Floyd has power, but he outpoints fighters so badly most times he doesn't need to use it. Ask Hatton if that check hook hurt, ask Sharmba Mitchell if that body punch hurt, (if you could) ask Diego Corrales and Arturo Gatti if those punches hurt. Floyd was motivated to hurt Gatti after all the back and forth between them got personal and he took a wide-open opportunity when Hatton didn't keep his guard up. Manny is an awesome offensive fighter, but not so much on the defense. Cotto hit him with a nice 3 punch combo and I imagine someone as fast as Floyd can do at least that and mix in body punching too. As for motivation? Well let's see if Freddie Roach has anything to say about Floyd and his father's shaky relationship. I'm not saying that will happen, but I can see Roach commenting about something that might piss Floyd off. 2 things in my mind are very underrated about Floyd; his chin and his power and I can easily see both of these being brought to the front line.

I think Hatton and Judah might have a tad bit of sour grapes in their predictions. There's a ton of bad blood between Judah and Mayweather so it doesn't surprise me that he would pick Pac over Floyd. Pac embarrassed Ricky as opposed to just kayoing him near the end of the fight so I'm not surprised that Ricky picked Mayweather. If the fight goes to the scorecards and Mayweather loses don't be surprised if Hopkins and De La Hoya are up in arms considering Mayweather is their boy (sour grapes because De La Hoya wasn't able to win Pac over).

Funny that you say PBF won't hurt Manny. I agree with you, but i don't think it's out of the question. I remember many people saying the same thing before PBF fought Hatton and we all no how that turn out.
Yes he can land enough punches will "boxing and moving" not running to win. PAC seems to become uneffective when people move around.

I was starting to think i was the only that notice that. People seem be so blinded by PAC's fanstastic win that there over looking the few things Cotto did well in the fight. The cotto that fought Margarito would have done much better in the fight.

Hatton swallowed a crate of sour grapes. When he speaks about the PAC Man, he looks like he swallowed a box of sour lemons. They both beat him and he lost for the same reason, he lacked concentration and gave them both a gift he dropped his hands and during training had lot's of weight to lose. He was overweight, overconfident and disdainful. He didn't listen to instructions and he believed all the bad press about how good he was. How can this man's opinion be valid when PAC disposed of him faster with less respect than what Floyd gave him and still say the man was easier to hit? Was it the right to Pac's knee that convinced him?

You must have been watching a different fight then me, because before the KO I didnt see Hatton doing anything but putting pressure on Pacquiao in the 2nd round, not landing any shots. Maybe that was just me that saw it that way!

Ricky was more than in shape for the bout with Manny, he was on the weight limit 2 weeks before the fight, so how on earth can he be overweight :confused: Also can ya point out to me when he was disdainful to Manny as once again that is pure tripe !
