Does Kimbo Have What It Takes To Be In The Ufc?
I Think He Does If He Can Work On His Ground Game. what do you think?
Re: Does Kimbo Have What It Takes To Be In The Ufc?
dam no replys i guess nobody likes kimbo lol ?
Re: Does Kimbo Have What It Takes To Be In The Ufc?
Well, he has been working on his ground game and he just sucks at it. He does nothing when taken to the ground against a decent opponent. Kimbo is a toughman competition fighter. Nothing more.
Re: Does Kimbo Have What It Takes To Be In The Ufc?
was he brought back into this series of TUF? It got taken off tv in the UK so they could show UFC 102. The last i saw they didn't know who would fight McSweeney in the semi final

He got beat by Roy Nelson in the first fight, but there was talk of him replacing another fighter who reckoned he had brain swelling:rolleyes: for the semi final. The semis were supposed to be shown last night over here but it wasn't on for some reason, so i dunno if he back or not

It was on here last night in Aust; I wont wreck it for you'se.
Dont miss the semi s !!!
Re: Does Kimbo Have What It Takes To Be In The Ufc?
From what I've read, he won't fight in the final of the Ultimate Fighters against one of the others finalists but he'll have a side fight with Houston Alexander in the same final on december 5. I guess it means that Matt Mitrione (Miss brain swelling) was just bullshitting all time long and will still go to the fight.

The thing with Kimbo is: He drags a lot of audience. Especially peoples who aren't expert in MMA. The guy has a good charisma and has been marketed intelligently in the beginning. And to top it all, he's a very nice guy and a hard worker. For the UFC, the guy is a lot of attraction on the sport at the moment so that's why they would like to make him fit somewhere. That could explain why he had a side fight for the ultimate season 10 contender and not participate in the final: he lost therefore he can't have the contract but that doesn't stop the UFC from getting him a fightspot on the side.
Re: Does Kimbo Have What It Takes To Be In The Ufc?
Kimbo is a great guy that comes with a good marketing base and exciting style but he simply has no ground game. If ,and its a big "if", he can get by Houston the UFC can feed him some hand picked scrubs to make him some money and sell tickets but the end state is that once he makes a move up from B- fighters he has very little future in MMA.
Re: Does Kimbo Have What It Takes To Be In The Ufc?
We will find out tonight after he fights Houston Alexander who hits like a mule but gasses quickly. If he loses then kiss Kimbo goodbye but if he wins then he extends his 15mins a little longer.
Re: Does Kimbo Have What It Takes To Be In The Ufc?
well he has proven to at least have the heart to give it his all...the ground game has improved greatly and he is always dangerous standing....
P4P in the MMA leagues no but interesting and entertaining enougfh to make a go at it.....
He did well and beat a true MMA fighter who is dangerous in Alexander..(Who I thought would KO Kimbo but was surprised)
Re: Does Kimbo Have What It Takes To Be In The Ufc?
When you think he really has a degenerative knee problem. It goes to show you he has enormous core strength to pick up and throw Alexander around like he did. I think with a few people who are real smart behind him who can shape his game to suit his own weakness and his strengths;then he could make it quite far. On his own,or with just meat heads behind him he will run into faster leg kickers and faster movers all day long with no answers and it'll cut his career short.

I AGREE WITH YOU AND ALSO HE NEEDS TO BE MORE TECHNIQUAL INSTEAD OF JUT TRYNA KNOCK PEOPLE OUT
Re: Does Kimbo Have What It Takes To Be In The Ufc?
A bit of another Kongo when he gets taken down, some of the big hittters think it's enough and forget it's MMA and you need to be a good all round fighter or you will get found out and have your arms ripped off on the ground !

According to UFC.com, Kimbo helped Spike TV generate their 3rd highest viewing figures in UFC history 5.2million, quite impressive considering it was his 1st official UFC fight :o
He certainly has generated alot of interest since entering the sport, good on him in my eyes ;)
Re: Does Kimbo Have What It Takes To Be In The Ufc?
I personally believe the question is, who is able to take on Brock Lesnar AKA "Neck and Head". All of these Ultimate Show Finalists are in the Heavyweight class after all. The only one who compares in size to Lesnar is Big Baby Marcus Jones, but he has a glass jaw. I still can't believe that Big Country one, "hugest belly I eva seen, I wonder if his feet get wet when takes a shower." - Rampage
As for the Kimbo question, his knee and conditioning will play a huge role on whether he can be a contender; his ground game showed improvement, but not being able to throw kicks, or knees for that matter limits him to his hands for stand-up.
I was impressed with Brendan Schaub and the Brit, but they will most likely have to come down a weight class to make a big name for themselves.
I hate Lesnar by the way. Big dumb Ox who does nothing but lay on top of opponents and drop those lunchboxes he calls hands onto his opponents.
Woot 1st post.
