Fighters i would like to see Amir fight next to see what he really has as World champ
Amir is now World Light Welterweight champ and i would like to see him fight a name or a good challenge at this weight next to see if he is really the real deal at this weight these are some of the fighters i think he should fight next.
Marcos Rene Maidana ( WBA Interim Light Welterweight champ)
Junior Witter ( Former WBC Light Welterweight champ)
Kendall Holt ( Former WBO Light welterweight champ)
Ricardo Torres ( Former WBO Light Welterweight champ)
Juan Manual Marquez
Ricky Hatton ( Former Number 1 )
Juan Diaz vs Paulie Mallinaggi winner
Juan Urango ( IBF Light Welterweight champ)
and even Demetrius Hopkins
I just feel to fully believe in him again we need to see him fight a fighter who will test him.

Forget Junior Witter he doesn't deserve another shot, after his disgraceful display in his last fight, I'd replace him with Devon Alexander, who IMO could be one of the best Jr Welterweights at the moment.
Or what about Timothy Bradley vs Lamont Peterson winner ?
Lastly Ricardo Torres has moved up i don't think he's moving back down. His weight last time was 151 pounds. Plus i think he's pretty much finished, he was floored 3 times in his last fight, although he did pull it out in the last round, i think the wars have caught up to him already.

Re: Fighters i would like to see Amir fight next to see what he really has as World c
Of that list I'd most like to see:
Maidana
Diaz
Marquez
Urango
I would also REALLY like to see him take on the winner of the Bradley/Peterson match on Saturday. Any of the aforementioned wins would get him some respect in my books, some more than others.
-
Re: Fighters i would like to see Amir fight next to see what he really has as World c
He's going to fight Paul Maglinaggi or Juan Diaz next, feather fisted punchers that has a pretty good record. He might also fight JMM who really doesn't belong anywhere past 135 and who is currently 36 years old.
He's not going to get in with a top 10 jr. welterweight that has a 60% ko ratio. Best believe that.
-
Re: Fighters i would like to see Amir fight next to see what he really has as World c
No doubt frank warren will once again look to get him against a big name that is past it just to make him look good once again. I would love to see him in against Paul Mccloskey. I would have no doubt that mccloskey would beat him.
-
Re: Fighters i would like to see Amir fight next to see what he really has as World c
Marcos Rene Maidana or Zab Judah for me, in the States to give him some better exposure to the casual US boxing fans, with that in mind then put him on the Manny PBF bill with Judah.
-
Re: Fighters i would like to see Amir fight next to see what he really has as World c
Victor Ortiz for him is good and fair matchup IMO, both are big junior welters.

I'm not sure either would want the fight. Khan mainly because Ortiz has just come off a KO loss. Ortiz because he doesn't like being hit and Khan obliterated him in the amateurs (Junior Olympic final).Ortiz has the power to hurt Khan (most fighters at 140 do) but i reckon Khan would be very confident. Doubt it would happen though. I think he should fight Maidana just so he doesn't have to relinquish. He can box his head off if he wants to. Maidana is slow and clumsy.
-
Re: Fighters i would like to see Amir fight next to see what he really has as World c
Yep soft punchers only, so Malignagi or Diaz, dont forget it was only a few months ago that Roach wanted Morales:p
-
Re: Fighters i would like to see Amir fight next to see what he really has as World c
I would like to see him fight Holt...Curious to see if his chin can stand another checking
-
Re: Fighters i would like to see Amir fight next to see what he really has as World c
If Malinaggi wins his next fight, that would be a great exposure in the US and no risks to get ko'ed. Also, as Paulie's quite fast and moves well, it would be a good test for Khan's speed and movement abilities and to get him a bit more confidence. After that though, I think it might begin to become quite serious if they make him face a power puncher as his chin for the moment is rated as questionable.
-
Re: Fighters i would like to see Amir fight next to see what he really has as World c
I want to see him in with a puncher that will test his chin, but if they're looking for exposure in the States he won't be matched with anyone dangerous in case he gets ko'd again, so it looks like someone feather fisted like Malignaggi, or someone past it like Castillo

Then why would you want to see him fight Holt? He can't punch for shit. He caught Bradley with a massive punch, and while he dropped him, Bradley was never seriously hurt. The only reason he stopped Torres was because of a head-butt.

Holt has power to stop Con. I agree he's not a monster puncher. He has good pop. I would like to see him fight Con. Which we all know will never happen

Don't be fooled by Holt's KO ratio.
That guy can crack when he sits down on his shots. His counter punching style is why he doesn't have many KOs.
Bradley getting up was more to do with Bradleys recovering powers and conditioning, not Holt's "lack" of power.

You want to see a fighter who will test him but list Junior Witter and Demetrius Hopkins????? Both are shite mate.
You list Witter but not Alexandar the guy who make Witter quit??

Holt hits harder then you think....Though he is not a massive puncher by any means he does have more of the 1 punch shot if he lands flush and sits down on a shot....More suited to KO a guy like Kahn then a massive puncher that Kahn will certainly avoid shots....
Speaking of Torres I thought about picking him off the list but Kahn would be avoiding the power all night long going into the fight so less of a chance he would get caught

I was surprised how Bradley handled that for sure...Even after popping back up he realized he jumped up too quick and made sure he knelt for a few seconds not too jump right back in the fight too quick..

Good points, and he will be criticized because he is not a complete package (actually already is criticized for that) rigfht from the get go, Many fighters don't peak until they are mid to late 20's...
I don't like or dislike Kahn as a fighter I am up in the air about him....

i do disslike him now, but i admit apart from the chin the boy has everything any fighter could dream of...
he has stupid fast hand speed and good power... the chin to me is no longer a question, its shit and he seems to have no recovery. But under roach i believe he can beat most out there with his speed and roaches training...
i think a lost of poeple in the UK want him to fail because he got to cocky, after a few fighs saying he could go 4 round and beat mayweather...

I listed Witter and Hopkins Because there fringe contenders and more than he has fought so far i didn't mention Bradley or Alexander because there both to much for him at this point and you can all say what you want about Witter he can whack.

Yeah that is just cockyness nfor sure, PBF managed to take fighters like Corrales, DLH, Hatton, Castillo and do what he wanted most of the time.....Kahn has not even really earned the right to call anyone out thus far...In a couple of years if he keeps on this track but to call out guys like PBF certainly stupid braggart talk....

Khan has never called out Floyd Mayweather, in fact the only fighter he has ever called out is Kotelnik.

Saying you can beat a fighter and calling them out is just about the same thing.....Assuming they fight somewhere near your weight class and the fight is plausable...
I personally never heard him make the comment about Floyd I was just more or less commenting on the fact if he did as was said....

I've seen four Holt fights and while he's a very crisp, sharp puncher I've never considered him as having serious power. However, I do agree that he would be a good test for Khan and he'd definitely land some shots.

He really didn't call out Mayweather. I believe he made a joke, a long time ago, about being able to beat Mayweather in a four round fight when he was asked about his progression as a fighter.

That sounds a little more like it makes sense....Like I said I never heard him call Floyd out, I think Preme said in his post he heart it

Re: Fighters i would like to see Amir fight next to see what he really has as World c
Khans next defence has to be against a name who isn't to old who can punch and has good skills we need a fight where we can really gauge how good he is and if he stays up right when hit hard.

No he said something along the lines of he'd fancy his chances against anyone in a 4 round fight including Mayweather...because basically he was fighting 4 rounders at the time

I am at times critical of Khan, but I too have realized that he is in the infancy of his career and to make the most of it, he probably shouldn't rush into tough fights and risk losing some of his appeal. For example, Bradley would be too much for him at this point. Although I would love to see him up against a puncher, he should probably steer clear until he develops more.
Holt will fight Campbell next. The purse bid is tomorrow.
