Mack to face Johnson Jan 30 | Fightnews - Boxing News Updated 24/7
I guess Mack's trainer wasn't lying when he said he wanted to give his man a big test. This is an IBF elimanator so th winer could be in line to face Cloud in 2010.

go mack !!!!! Good news for the mack supporters on this board I'd guess.
Good fight even though Johnson finally looked his age against Dawson last outing Mack will still be going into deep waters.
Good luck to Mack, look forward to this fight!
I've got to be honest, I've never given a shit about Mack. I'm also pretty sick of watching Johnson plod on.... I have ZERO interest in this contest
Well best of luck to Mack, I'm not sure Johnson looked his age in his last bout, I think it was just more of a case of Dawson fighting a great, smart fight. I wish the best for Mack but he needs to step it up at least a couple levels to win this one. Talk about a test, this is a match-up nightmare for Mack.
Than how can you not have an interest? I mean Johnson is still competitive in his fights. Hatton ain't in his. Yet you still watch him. Now if you going to tell me you only watch Hatton to see him get knocked the fukk out than I with you there. Go Hatton, go.
[quote=Violent Demise;823966]Are you serious dude? You're knocking my user name?? How gay is that?
You must be American.
regardless of whether my boy got KO'd out by either of the best two lb 4 lb fighters on the planet, I don't just abandon my support of Hatton. I'm a mancunian and he'll always be an idol to me.
I suppose you're the sort of fight fan that drops his fighter as soon as they lose?
As for Mack, he sucks, simple as that.
Johnson is a journeyman that is headed for some serious brain damage. It's time for him to hang them up.
[QUOTE=rickyhatton1975;823977]But Hatton is not, right? Well maybe not if the heart attack gets him first. You must from the UK. Only they would consider a fighter they never met in there life an idol (don't get no gayer than that). And don't lie that you have met him. Cuz you would of mentioned that shiit already.
[quote=Violent Demise;823979]I've lived in America for the last 14 years and never had the chance to meet him. I have a signed glove of his, if that helps you a little.
You seem to be a bit of a wanker, and certainly a little aggressive. I've only posted on here a few times, you're not doing a good job representing the forum right now.
he's a calslappy fan. of course he hates glen johnson
Ha ha, yes, I am indeed a Calzaghe fan. Got a couple of his gloves too.
I don't hate Glen Johnson at all, in fact, he was the victim of some horrible decisions against him in 2000 and beyond. But it's over for him, and I despise fighters sticking around too long.
Shit, Hatton lost twice. I don't encourage him to fight again.
Mack will be ready for war, WARMACK!
Johnson knows this is his final shot. Mack will have to dig deep follow his game plan and he will WIN.
This is a big step up for Mack. I'll be cheering for him, but Johnson is going to prove him improved his stamina is because he'll be on him the entire night. I think it'll be a close fight either way, but my initial thoughts are that Johnson will be outboxed for much of the fight but will end up grinding Mack down. I'll be cheering for Mack though.
Mack is going to catch Glen a few times. He will give Glen a lot of different looks
This fight is huge for both guys. If Johnson wins he is right back in the mix and with his name and drive it will carry back on Hbo or Showtime with a fight with Cloud or another big name. Johnson will be ready for this fight he will come in great shape and have a lot of ring experience. He will need this since he will be out classed by Mack's talent.
Mack this is another step up to make a name for himself. If he wins this fight he will be an instant HBO fighter. HBO needs another young gun for the 175 division. Mack will need to be in the best shape of his life. The rounds will high energy and extremely intense. If he is in the best shape of his life mentally too he will become the IBF number one challenger. Looking forward to a great fight.
I hear the experts are leaning towards Johnson. Who can blame them, but Mack will surprise here.
[quote=rickyhatton1975;823977]See, I have a major problem with that. Johnson is exactly the same level of talent as Hatton, maybe more. The key difference between them is that Johnson is a guy who hasn't had promoters picking safe fights for him & making sure he gets the good end of a decision. He's been on the wrong end of way too many decisions, the only guys who can say they've definitely beaten him are Hopkins, Tarver & Dawson.
Joel who?
Anyway. I stopped caring about Mack the moment Berrio killed him.
Having said that, i'm glad Team Mack think that is finally Johnson is ripe.
This is a fight Mack had to take. If he beats Johnson its a great win on his resume.
[quote=JazMerkin;825146]It annoys me aswell he's only been beaten, decisively by B-hop, Chad Dawson. And he wasn't in his prime in either of those fights, and most of his losses are close fights that could of gone either way.
But if you can beat RJJ, Antonio Tarver, Clinton Woods, Montel Griffin, Richard Hall, Eric Harding, ETC. You aren't no journeyman and especially since even in his losses, he's gave just about everyone a close fight.
Mack was weight drained for Berro and Andrade. He will have no excuses for Johnson and he will not need them. He beat Chris Henry who is tough as nails. Henry was big strong and Mack handle him. Johnson will be coming and throwing lots of punches which means lots of openings
I saw Johnson get old in his last fight this should be Macks fight to take. Johnson didnt have the second wind or something was just missing in his last fight...looks like he should hang em up to me.
How did this thread so south so fast?
I mean if you don't have any interest on the fight why put "I have seen them fight and I don't wanna watch. This fight sucks." Please enlighten me What made you click the link to post something here when there are 100's of Ricky Hatton/Joe Calzaghe threads.
All that aside:
I think Mack is going to try to give Johnson lots of angles and get low. Problem is Mack doesn't have a great left hook, and Johnson is pretty good at smothering/blocking big right hands. Mack is no Bad Chad, so if he just thinks he can go in there and be cute, he's got another thing coming. Johnson can unload if he can get planted.
Bad Chad was ONLY successful because he could back Johnson up in their most recent match. He was really throwing big punches, but not exchanging. Johnson got the better of most of the exchanges in both of their fights.
I would have to pick Johnson by 116-110 with one KD in there on an off balance Mack.
Mack will be very slick, he will have to move and throw plenty counter punches because Johnson will come all night with and throw a lot of punches.
Mack has been working hard in camp and he knows this is the fight of his life.
Go Johnson in this 1; I love this old Warrior who will take on all comers and bring the fight right to them. This could be a helluva fight with Johnson taking him out in the later rounds. I still wanna see Johnson vs Green when its all said and done.
The winner of this fight will take on Cloud. Mack has been working hard for this fight. He knows this is his biggest fight of his life time.
It should be a very good fight.
Mack is like a watered down version of Chad Dawson. More hittable of course.
So Johnson may very well take this one.
Mack has a lot of heart tho and has been on quite a little winning streak lately.
I would not say Mack is a waterdown version of Dawson. They are different fighters with different styles. Mack is more gifted then Johnson. Johnson is more durable. Mack will be there in the late rounds and will surprise the public
