Jones accuses Green of cheating!
Jones accuses Green of cheating - Boxing - Fox Sports
Why would this only come out now. Wonder if Green really did cheat or is this a last ditch effort by Jones to try make the Hopkins fight go ahead? Strange indeed.

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
Who are we to judge whether the wraps were any good or not. The truth is we don't really know. Maybe Jones is clutching at straws, but he would know more than us. However, if it was really an issue then Jones should have forced Green to rewrap. The shot Green landed seemed pretty feeble and was on the back of the head/neck, but Jones had no business being in that position anyway.
Personally, if Jones wants Hopkins next then thats fine with me. The fight has lost some of it's lustre, but I would still want to see it. And I wouldn't rule Jones out at all. Hopkins is not a big puncher and he doesn't like to throw many punches, Jones has a decent shot of coming through unscathed and maybe even outworking Hopkins whilst landing the flashier shots.

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
Jones should start training other fighters and retire himself. Just be done with it.

If the Jones camp did not force the rewrap, regardless of what they saw, it becomes a non-issue. They lost their right to complain once they let it go.

I agree. If there was a noticeable problem then they should have made a stand there and then. There was no reason to wait until a few weeks after the fight to start making claims. It makes it seem as though they have been biding time trying to think up an excuse.

Come on, Roy, just leave. It's over.

HEY! IT's not because he got sparked with the first meaningful shot and trying to find excuses that he's way over his prime and his idea of himself. You bunch of haters:mad:

This. Either way, Roy Jones is an idiot.

Yeah good post... I honestly still give Roy a MUCH better shot at beating Hopkins than I would Danny Green, and would rather see that fight come off, although I feel Green deserves a payday after that performance..

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
Looked to me like he tried to lean away into the ropes and shoulder roll the blow that was comming in, but was too slow. Roys fault.

Green you big baddie you should have let Roy hit you a few times, but no you just beat the shit out of him and never gave him a chance.
You are a discrace to boxing and I can only hope that next time you box you actually let your opponent land a few punches.
Now go and write a 1000 times I'M A BIG BULLY AND MUST LET MY OPPONENTS HIT ME BACK.

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
It's a shame that Roy's ego has far eclipsed his talent. By the sound of it, he still has no intention of hanging them up just yet and is looking for the classic excuse to kid himself and anybody that will listen. Being a Roy Jones Jnr fan, these things are not nice to read. The only problem is that nobody, not even Al, will be able to convince Roy his time is up. Jones Jnr is his own man, always has been, and always will be, and therefore the final decision will always rest with him. And thats what worries me.

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
He should go back to commentating he was a good one. He has a rematch clause with Green so hes trying to enforce it or get the fight with Hopkins which might be safer. Two old farts one shot still seems watcheable on non PPV maybe channel 2 public access

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
Not read the article but i think the title says it all... Think Roy needs to hang them up and stop clining to past glory as this shit is really spoiling his legacy.
if its true its a classless statement IMHO.

Exactly ,he has had his wittle bubby feelings hurt and now wants to share the experience around, as they tend to do.
Shame, he was one of my favorite fighters to re watch on my best of Rjj tape.
I hope someone high up tells him to pull his head in and never mention it again or dont sit in front of a mic again.

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
I've always been a fan of Roy. But this is it. It's finished. Please stop Roy. I'm begging you. You've got several other venues in which you can be very successful. But please stay out of the ring.

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
Roy's shot... Punch was glancing... Retire...

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
I see Roy Jones Jr has finally recovered from his KO loss to Danny Green. The fight was over effectively in 63 seconds! What is Jones talking about? He got nailed, he was in a poor position and Green landed to the side of the head, yes it was high (temple shots usually are Roy!) Give it away RJJ.

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
Sad comments, that's why you have a member of your team in hte others dressinng room to check this stuff out. Lets face it Roy, you underestimated Green on the back of your big "I'm back good as ever " effort against Lacy and got your ass handed to you.
Go out as the champ we will remember you as and not a bitch.

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
I agree with everyone who say's it's too late to complain. That's the whole pt of sending your rep to watch wrapping. If he thought they were illegal and still let Green use them--that's his fault. Nazim Richardson tells you how you handle illegal wraps and he didn't take no for an answer when demanding they be redone vs. Tito. He didn't even budge for Donald Trump. haha.

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
I wish Roy had retired off the back of getting beat up for a 2nd/3rd time by Tarver. If he'd gone then, it would have been cool. Hell, if he'd retired off that one last glory win over Trinidad it would have been ok. Or even if he'd got out when Calzaghe 'Roy'd' his shot self, then he could have gone out with dignity. But after showboating against Sheika & Lacy (who was possibly one of the few fighters more shot, but still deserves more respect than he gets) he gets KO'd by a likeable but standard fighter (sorry Green lovers that's what he is) & actually tries to make excuses
Fuck off into retirement Roy & maybe in 5-10 years I'll be able to be nostalgic about you again

Re: Jones accuses Green of cheating!
The punch that Green landed didn't need to be hard because of WHERE it landed. It landed right on the temple. What that does is it short-circuits your control of your legs. There's nothing really wrong with your head, but your legs just won't work! Think of the first left hook Mike Tyson landed on Lou Savarese or the shot that Kostya Tszyu KO'd Zab Judah with. I'm not sure the fight would've gone differently, but Jones had his wits about him.

It was knocked his equilibium off but I think he was pretty stunned anyway. Regardless it was a punch that a game Roy would have laughed at even 5 years ago. He had no business in the ring against a guy like that at this stage and probably no business in the ring period... All he's serving to do is tarnish a legacy that should have been left alone but instead is chasing past glory that if continued is going to get him hurt...
