Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Thought I'd put this up for all 4 of us watching.
The Vanes Martirosyan/Willie Lee fight has just finished, with Vanes getting a 3rd round stoppage, looking very impressive in the process. I'd like to see him up against Angulo.
On the untelevised undercard I believe both Matt Korobov & Omar Henry registered stoppages to advance their unbeaten records.

Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
I hope Espino miraculously manages to knock out both Pavlik and Loew.

It would be quite funny if Espino became the two-belt lineal champion of the world. Won't happen though.
This is why I hate Top Rank cards, they hardly ever have anything even remotely competitive & if it is becomes so, they make sure that guy doesn't have another competitive fight for at least another 5 fights after that.

For those who need a link you know where to look... ;)

Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
In Youngstown, they only sold 3,000 tickets of the 7,000 available. I guess that Arum was also trying to have the bars in Youngstown barred from showing the fight, so that if anyone wants to see the fight, they have to buy it at home, or buy a ticket.
I live 20 minutes away, and I wouldn't even make the quick drive for this fight. :p
I just want to see Soto fight.
It would be funny if Espino pulled an upset tonight. It won't happen, but it would be funny. ;D

Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Miguel Angel Garcia just scored a 3rd Round KO over a Colombian serial loser called Herrera. He looks to have all the tools, but it's still hard to tell. The technical skills are all there, but it's truthfully very hard to judge how good his power is at this level.
On a positive note, it's great to hear Genaro Hernandez on the commentary.
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Great to hear "Chicanitos" voice and know he's back on going strong... God bless.
Miguel Garcia looks to have lots of potential. His brother is teaching him well...

Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
They actually could have marketed this fight better. Like they've said there's a great backstory to Espino, if they'd instead given up on Pavlik as the down to earth hero & had him as the bad guy to Espino's Rockyesque backstory, I think there would be more widespread interest.
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Oh stfu Kelly, stop acting like it's Williams taking the piss when you kept trying to change the dates. We got a FOTY contender instead, I'm all the happier.
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Sounds like the highlight so far.... Genaro on the mic :). looking good?

There was no way possible they could turn Espino into any type of crediable opponent. So they didn't even try

Maybe not to us, but to your casual fan it might have worked. Top Rank's PPVs are always hideous. At least this one has Cermeno/Valdez, the Cotto/Jennings & Pavlik/Rubio double bill was one of the worst I've ever seen.
Chavez should be nowhere near a ring, even if I did think he beat Diaz last time out. He just isn't there any more & I don't think he's been the same fighter since Leavander Johnson.

Yep, VD is right. After all his years in the business, Aum knows you can't polish a turd.

Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Think this will be a hard scrap for as long as it last :fight:.WAR SOTO .Chavez looks geared up.
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Chavez best days are long gone. It might be a long painful night for him
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Or maybe not. What is Chavez weighing these days...man.Sure that not Vargas in there ?Those long arms are going to murder him
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Tough little round there for Chavez, although Soto will eat punches because he tends to do that when he knows he can beat an opponent. Chavez is done. Soto dropped him nicely there though. 10-8 round for Soto if you're reading Lyle
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Chavez lively but eating leather - like his whole career.
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Chavez looks so slow no & he's a shadow of his former self. A very dim shadow. Which of course as I write that means he has his best spell of the fight. Still Soto outboxed for most of it so 10-9 Soto.
20-17 Soto
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Chavez using anything available to him, getting gritty but he might as well be hitting Soto with pillows.
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Chavez in his his face. Soto going to have lo lift.
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Chatroom anyone? I gonna go check sit in it if anyone else wants see ya there.
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Gotta love Chavez. The guy is never in a dull fight.
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Soto looking a little weary after three?
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Chavez got that round close, he looked to have hurt him early, but you've got to give it to Soto just for the cleaner punching throughout.
30-26 Soto
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Yeh he does.Soto gave that round, sacrifices huge advantage and uppercut happy, too much
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Soto could be having a threesome with Pam Anderson and Dolly Parton, and his hands could not be fuller than they are right now.
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Not a bad fight. Love the way Soto throws his uppercutts
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
I've got to say Chavez is doing better here, although Soto just looked to stagger him with an uppercut. It's tempting to give Chavez a round based on him being competitive, but in truth Soto is dominating here.
40-35 Soto
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Fooking Chavez needs a helmut....Soto needs to settle down and crank rights
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Great move by Chavez, almost pushed Soto out of the ring! ;D
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
tough/gritty is one thing but hope Soto knocks the shit outta him now
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
This is becoming an awesome fight, but with these two you could guarantee it. Oh shit, Chavez just threw Soto through the ropes, he looks buzzed. Chavez has a point taken, they square up at the bell. Again it's competitive, but another round for Soto.
50-44 Soto
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Loving this, Chavez pounded him to the balls!
Chavez is finishing his career with a bang. :D
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Fukking Chavez. When he become Agapito Sanchez with all the fouling?

I agree, I love his uppercuts, and that he's comfortable up against the ropes.
That was a bull$hit move by Chavez though.
WTF, now a bad low blow!!! :furious2:
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
"Don't let him get you on the ropes" lol he just threw him through the ropes.
Ouch that was a nasty low blow. This is a fucking riot!
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
This one is kicking off, Soto dropped by a vicious low blow. Chavez may well get DQ'ed here, but he's making this fun.
-
Re: Pavlik/Espino & Soto/Chavez Thread
Following the low blow this is going mad, a real war, Chavez has him to the ropes & for the first time might be getting the better of the round. Chavez looked a bit hurt at the end, but I think he just had Soto fighting his fight after the low blow.
59-54 Soto
