What a very bad news at a very unexpected moment.... may your family bounce back from that horrible episode quick, strong and united, champ.
RIP. Its been a bad year for Miguel.
my prayers go out to cotto and his family r.i.p cotto sr
RIP. iz alwayz seemed lik him an Cotto had a tight bond too:(
Sad indeed, from what I saw of him in 24/7 you could see that he really loved his son and his family.
WOW! That is such sad and unexpected news. If Cotto needed something to revitalize his career, he can fight for his father's honor and maybe make amends with Evangalista.
My prayers are with the Cotto family.
condolence to the cottos
He seem like such a cool dad. I remember at the 24/7 show he was talking about how torn his heart is because his son and brother did not get along. Maybe this sorrow will bring the two together.
RIP Mr. Cotto
Hope your family finds comfort in each other during this difficult time
No way. He seemed like such a nice man on 24/7. Thoughts are with miguel, this could either make him determined to get back in the ring quickly or hinder his return. Would love to see the warrior back. All credit to his father to making him the person he is.
Very sorry to hear this.
Sad news. No words to describe the sorrow I feel for Miguel... RIP.
Go easy chief.Prayers To Miguel and family.Cannot imagine the pain of losing a parent.
my heart really goes out to Miguel, his dad and mine were roughly around the same age, and i can't imagine how it'll feel to lose him at this stage of my life, Cotto has his own family but the guy is still young, he's only 29, i mean i know no one is really ever ready to say goodbye to a loved one, but at 29 you shouldn't be having to be saying bye to your parents, especially as unexpectedly as in this case, parents never stop being that, and you'll never truly not need them in your life, que dios te bendiga Miguel y que te de fuerza en este tiempo dificil en tu vida, sabes que tu pueblo te adora y todos sabemos que tu padre era un buen hombre, tu lo demuestras todos los dias con tu forma de ser, que descanze en paz Miguel Sr.
RIP Cottos dad. :(
My thoughts and prayers go out to Miguel and his family during this difficult time.
My heart goes out to Miguel now, more than ever.
It's obvious that Miguel got a lot of his characteristics from his father, and that the two were extremely close, so I know that Miguel's heart must be breaking from this.
Rest In Peace Don Miguel. :saint:
What I want to learn more about, is why it took so long for them to get help out to him? The clerk that called 911 said that he called four times! First at 2:04, then 2:14, 2:15, and then finally at 2:53 to let them know that he died. So 45 minutes went by, and still no help. Would he have survived if they would of had a better response time?
Cotto doesn't seem to be having much luck at the moment.
Condolences to Cotto and family. And peace to Cotto senior.
Condolences to the Cotto family. May God be with them through this tough time.
Sorry to hear that , may they all find peace in this.
I cant even begin to imagine how Miguel and his family must feel right now. This is very, very sad news. My heart and prayers go out to the Cotto family at this very difficult time.
R.I.P. Cotto Senior.
Terrible news. Been there myself so prayers go out man....
yea then played a video on the news this morning, basically had Miguel Sr laying on the floor covered with a sheet, and Miguel was on his knees next to him, his hand on his father's chest, he pretty much seemed to be in a daze, his face was blank as if still trying to process what happened, very tough to watch in all honesty, doesn't matter who it was, i wouldn't be shocked if the Pacquiao fight ends up being his last
My thoughts go out to Miguel and his family, sorry champ.
RIP and condolences to the cotto family!
Not sure if I saw the same video, but I had seen video yesterday that showed Miguel's mother on her knees leaning over his body, and then Miguel beside his father, and he had his hand on top of his dad's hand.
And you're right Miguel looked so lost.
I started crying when I seen that.
On another note, I'm glad that I'm not the only one that is pissed at the slow response from 911 getting help to him.
Investigation Demand on The Death of Miguel Cotto Sr. - Boxing News
Rip,must Of Been Really Proud Of His Son!
My thoughts go out to Cotto and his family.
Rip Cotto's father.
I saw the news this morning. What a horrible time for Miguel and his family. To lose a father like that... especially at the age of 55... has to be heart-wrenching. My thoughts and prayers also go out to the Cotto family.
In the local newspaper they were also reporting that Evangelista Cotto could barely speak through his grief. The sad part is that Miguel's problem with Evangelista caused a chill between the dad and the uncle that never got completely resolved. How terrible it must be to have your brother die before you've had a chance to make amends. It's stuff like this that leaves boxing on a much, much less important level. It's a life lesson to us all.
Also, in reading through this thread, I'm reminded why I've always loved saddoboxing and wouldn't trade it for any other boxing forum around. Everyone is classy and very sensitive at times like this, regardless of boxing preferences. Reps to all.
Didn't know there was a 24-hour rep limit. Will catch you guys on my next trip. Meanwhile, I can't help wondering what, if any, effect this will have on Miguel's career. He has, after all, suffered two brutal losses, and had talked about retiring at 30. I, for one, hope he doesn't, but I also hope he gets himself a good corner when he decides to come back.
:( can't help but feel sorry for the cotto family.
it's been a bad year for them, but i'm sure they can get back up from all of this.
May God bless the Cotto family.
Miguel Angel has had to have had the worst luck in boxing history. It's a pitty such things have happened to such a talented, calm and classy individual (it's so uncommon for a fighter to display all of those traits).
My heart goes out to Miguel and all his family.
Rest In Peace Miguel Cottos Sr
Even in grief, Miguel is pure class.
I had to use Google Translator on this, so you know it doesn't always get it right, but you'll know what's being said.
Google Translate
Hopefully this will be the beginning of Miguel and Evangelista making ammends.
My condolence to Miguel's family.
