This is not a bad fight at all just as good as Pacquiao vs Clottey i know it should be Mayweather vs Pacquiao but we aint got that and with a bit of look Mayweather will then either fight Mosley vs Berto winner or Pacquiao.

I think Mayweather should fight Louis Collazo and then the winner of that match should figt the winner of the Mosley Berto match-up. Collazo beat Berto on my card and he's certainly a top 5 welterweight for me..... Don't like Cintron.....
I think its a decent fight Cintron is a good puncher and a strong welterweight who's only defeats are from Antonio Margarito
it's on the same level as Pacquiao/Clottey, and Cintron himself has said he hasn't had probs making 147, and that he'd rather fight at that weight
agree though that Mayweather/Collazo wouldn't be a bad fight either, and if anyone at 147 deserves a big money fight (aside from Clottey) it's Cintron
And at least Mayweather won't be making them boil down to a stupid weight ;)

Why couldn't the fight be at 154 or a catchweight of 150 although I know everyone here hates catchweights. Cintron has been fighting at 154. His biggest win arguably - over Angulo - was at 154, and his draw against Martinez was at 154. No need for him come in weight-drained for this fight or have to worry more than he should about the weight for this fight.

As to the thread title though, it's a reasonable fight to take on short notice for both Pac and Mayweather if this is in fact what's going to happen
Pac vs. Clottey = Mayweather vs. Cintron as far as legit short notice opponents.

Cintron is the perfect opponent for PBF to look good against, both performance and image wise. Cintron is a true WW who has been up to LMW now, so that would answer a lot of the critics about the size of PBF's opponents. Plus, Cintron fights with his head straight up with no head movement, and I just think PBF would have a field day.

So he's got a punchers chance against guys like Floyd and Pac, when you get down to it he's got no chance. Clottey's a tough out for anybody, I could see Clottey beating Mosley and it wouldn't shock me if he beat Pacquiao. It WOULD shock me if Cintron beat any elite fighter. So I totally disagree with the idea that he's more dangerous, he might be more of a danger to land an out of nowhere punch and get a KO but Clottey is far more dangerous in that he's far more likely to just beat you.

But he's a much better fighter than Cintron. Even his biggest liability, mental toughness, isn't a strength of Cintron's.

This would show me that Floyd does not pick on little fighters and likes a bit of a challenge. Good fight considering there is not much options out there at the moment.

agreed , Clottey beats Cintron quite easy. Unless you have to knock Cintron out twice to beat him:p btw, who said that Clottey is very slow? His hand speed is underated imo
The Cintron fight was a few fights too early for Angulo, but even with his lack of experience and having the flu, he gave Cintron all he could handle. Cintron was really wilting and looked close to folding late in that fight. Was that a tear I saw in his eye? I think only the fact that the fight end was near, gave him the fortitude to finish. The heart issue is a wash, if anything, I give Clottey the nod in that department.Quote:

Well, maybe you're mistaking me for coming on too strong for Cintron. Basically, he is roughly a B level fighter along with Clottey is what I am saying. But Cintron poses a higher risk. He has KO'd every 147 pounder he fought except 2 or 3. Keeping it real, how many welterweights hit harder? The guy is a really big welterweight and he has power in both hands. Both guys are going to get outboxed by Pac and PBF. And I just don't see how people can be so high on Clottey when he has done nothing special. His best win is either a decision against the lightweight war ridden Corrales or a skin of his teeth technical decision against Judah, who fought with an eventual fight stopping cut. At least Cintron has the puncher's chance. And Clottey's biggest liability isn't lack of mental toughness its lack of offense. When he is getting outboxed by Pac or anyone he has no chance to win. Neither guy has great heart and both wilt but at least Cintron goes in for the kill. I am not very high on Cintron but why should anyone be any higher on Clottey? You know everybody voted this as a good fight so I am in the right to see Cintron as more than just no chance opponent. No matter who Floyd fights, people will find a way to discredit them. Cintron is a big, dangerous fighter who's fought at jr middleweight before. His only losses coming from his two matches with Marchacheato (and IMO, I think that Martinez had the win over him, however that went down as a draw). He's blasted through everyone else. This fight doesn't have a great risk/reward ratio as Cintron isn't a huge draw, although he is quite dangerous. Still, it's a fight I'd like to see Floyd take, lets hope it materializes.

And in the argument over who's better, it's a pretty fair comparison. Clottey is the tight defensive fighter while Cintron is the aggressive machine. This makes sense as Manny will pressure Clottey and Floyd will be pressured by Cintron. Since it's Floyd who's looking at it, people are claiming that lightweights could beat him. Personally, I think the only fights that make more sense than Cintron are; PW (if he can even still make 147) and the winner of Mosley/Berto, the latter of which won't be ready to fight by early March. Cintron is a big, solid fighter with respectable power and good all-around athleticism. I don't think he'll be the one to beat Floyd but he definitely has the tools to give him some problems.
