Pascal set to fight Chad Dawson

The WBC light heavyweight championship bout between Chad Dawson and Jean Pascal is headed to a February purse bid. In his last bout, Dawson defeated Glen Johnson for the WBC interim and IBO light heavyweight straps. Pascal scored a hard fought unanimous decision over Adrian Diaconu, who had never lost a fight until he squared off with Pascal. Dawson-Pascal is expected to air on HBO sometime on June 19


This is a great fight. I say Hopkins HAS to fight the winner of this fight. He is ducking Dawson enough, I think the winner of this fight should get a shot at Hopkins.

Yes Jean Pascal dislocated his shoulder, and during the fight it had to be popped back in 3 times. I've liked Jean Pascal for quite sometime, but after that fight he went up like 10 folds in my book, a real gusty performance and im for certain a big fan of his. But im also a fan of Chad Dawson so im not sure who to root for.

man great fight lined up here! Glad to see Pascal doing so well for himself.

This should be a great fight.

I've never been that high on Pascal, I thought he blatantly ducked Miranda after talking a ton of shit about hit, but ever since the Froch fight I have been forced to respect him and he really is proving himself to be a special fighter. I don't think he can beat Dawson, but I do think that he'll put on a great performance and just come up a little short.

And Hopkins is blatantly ducking anyone who can a) beat him or b) won't give him 98% of the purse. That's fine IMO, given where he is in his career, but I really wish he wasn't holding the division hostage. I think at this point that Dawson should be considered the number 1 fighter at LHW.

I'm quite a fan of Pascal man, I've liked him for a while. Very exciting, can knockout and also not adverse to being wobbled himself..... This should be a great fight. Pascal will be a certain tougher test than an old Glenn Johnson with his good footwork and fast combinations.

If i had to pick a winner id probably go with dawson to take a decison. But considering chad is likely to start this fight 1/3 on its potentially one of those real earners for fight fans.

Pascal is very fast and has proven he has heart.

I think he can beat Dawson.

I'd like to see it.

Agreed.Hes pretty slippery himself,off the top I like Pascal.

I think Dawson is the far and away best Light heavy right now. BHop can not say anything to refute that because he has followed the business-only fighter trend. If Dawson beats Pascal and maybe Cloud this year he'll be forced to move down looking to join the loaded 168 division. The kid is a fighter with a fighter's hearts so we can expect to see Dawson fight the top guys. Heck, Dawson is willing to fight them single handedly and not wait for some to eliminate each other.

Pascal is great for the sport, he will fight anyone it seems and he is doing everything the hard way. Sod the Floyds of the world.......get behind fighters like Jean.

PAscal has all his chances, it would be follish to count him out without any chance, perhaps Dawson should have the edge but Pascal should definitely be considered, especially as he trains now also with Pedro Diaz, the incredible cuban coach that used to master the cuban elite team's guide.

Pascal will have a rough go in the early rounds against Dawson's speed and movement, but as the fight wears on it should become Pascal's game. Pascal isn't super strong in any department, but he is good in all of them, and he can carry that into the late rounds. I think this is Pascal's fight to lose and Dawson will have to be flawless to take it away.

Dawson vs Johnson 1 was a superb fight, and one of the best Light Heavyweight fights of the decade.

Dawson vs Tarver 1 was an exciting, dominant performance from Chad Dawson.

yeah the first fights are always better, the rematches only happened because no one else would fight him. And he couldn't get up for them. Pascal AND Dawson will get up for each other

Finally someone other than johnson or tarver. Dawson will beat pascal, i still remember watching pascal shake like a wet kitten when miranda scared the shit out of his ass after ko'ing banks...funny times. Either of these guys is better than watching hopkins fight anyone. I don't even see how dude is even ranked.....oh wait now i see. Gettin beat by taylor twice, calzaghe once and redeeming yourself by whoopin enrique ornales, and now fighting jones who can barley even stay awake anytime a punch even whizzez's by his head.

Because B-Hop has been around a long time. At LHW all he's done is beat Tarver. Do you really count Pavlik and Wright considering they weren't LHW's at the time?

As I said, BCD is gonna tap that ass ALL night long...
