Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
Erik I love you, and I miss seeing you in the ring, but you should stay retired.
Ex-champion Erik Morales ends retirement in March - ESPN
This is going to be a PPV too. :-\

1 question comes to mind. Is he broke?

Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
Lets hope for his sake they feed him some patsies.
Gotta love the quote post-Diaz:-
"No more fighting. I am done. Too many punches, particularly to the head area."
Erik is one of my favourite ever fighters, I really hope it doesn't end badly for him.

Meh, it's his choice at the end of the day. If he's gonna do it, he's gonna do it so we might as well get behind him.

Not sure if I'd be up for getting behind him:doggy:
But each to his own
Can I just get a check on... MEH (pronounciation), sounds good:thumb:

Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
Welterweight is way too big for Morales.
But if he wants to fight again I say let him fight Jose Luis Castillo.
That would be a marketable fight and a winnable one for Morales.
I'd watch it.

From what I read and hear he's actually doing very well money wise. He just misses the sport. Morales has always stated he was born to box.

yea i agree, although i don't think he should
he's not broke, made plenty in his career and invested well, still making money from his promotion company and boxing magazine
his job as head of sports and recreation in Tijuana is basically done for free, he donates his paycheck to be able to help run it

Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
I think he should fight Hatton at super middleweight ;D.Both would'nt need that much training then to get to the weight ;D

How about a 3 way fight with Vargas!;D

Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
Eric should stay retired if he does not need the money. Nothing to be gained except the ego trip.

Well if I was to smash you in the face and someone was BEHIND you, they could SUPPORT you, so you did not fall on your arse where I could stomp the eyes out your head.
The verbal equivalent of a shrug of the shoulders, is "Meh"

Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
A grudge match with MAB would be his best option, maybe at 140. Anything else is stupid. Does he expect to be champion again, and in a loaded welterweight division. I would actually like to see Morrales and Barrera mix it up one more time.

nope, true fans/friends would be able to stand up and say, you need to keep out of boxing for your health and safety.

I am a huge Morrales fan and I think that the retirement would effectively be better for him. Still, I will be glad to see him back on a ring but I am really not certain about the good aspect of that return.

Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
Eugh, I love Erik, the man embodies everything I love about boxing, but really he should have retired after he TOTALLY SCHOOLED Pacquiao. And he should have DEFINATELY retired after the second pac fight.
It was obvious when he fought that he loved a brawl. And it seems he loves fighting too much for his own good. And coming back at this weight? I don't think this comeback will last long, Although I'm sure Amir Khan will jump at the chance to fight him. A notion that makes me want to puke my guts up.

Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
I'd like to see him fight again. But ONLY... I repeat... ONLY... against Barrera.

Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight

IMO he should stay retired, has nothing to prove and is only looking to end up hurt which is something i wouldn't wanna see
-
Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
This is a big fat NO right from the get go...
-
Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
No problem if its against a 15-22 type journeyman.
Alfaro is not a welterweight either but he is 23-5 with 20 KO's at just 26 yrs old. That's a little dangerous IMO specially that he has a TKO win over Corley. and he will come very motivated for this fight i presume.
-
Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
We don't need this. Erik is an ATG and has nothing at all to prove. He will end up hurt if not careful!
-
Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
Morales should have made an arrangement with Barrera for them to unretire and do an exhibition match. Other than that I don't see any compelling reason for him to return to boxing. He already has a hall of fame career and, so far, the only boxer to have beaten Pacquiao while the later was at or near his peak. It will be a pity if he gets remembered as someone who was beaten up in a one-sided mismatch.

Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
The guy needs to check himself before he wrecks himself. He was a great champion and just needs to call it quits.

Re: Erik Morales returns to the ring in March - at welterweight
Morales was a great boxer, but his strongest assest might have been his ability to take punishment and keep applying pressure. I doubt he still has that quality about him now.
