Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
Just read loads of reports released in the past few hours that Floyd is thinking of sitting out until Pacquiao beats Clottey so that he can start talking about the Pacman fight again..Because the Pac fight is easy money compared to fighting Shane.
It becomes very difficult to defend Floyd if this is true because fighting Shane answers so many critics questions about Floyds heart, guts, reasons for being in the sport etc.
If he shys away from this fight I for one will be pissed off to the core with him for not taking the fight that shuts up all the naysayers.
Here is one of many reports -
Mayweather hesitating with Mosley fight – News

Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
Doesnt suprise me one bit, shame if it's true. but Mayweather's welterweight reign is pretty poor in reality.
-
Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
I'm a bit hesitant about believing this cause the money seems off to me, I seriously doubt he's only getting 10 million for fighting Mosley, while its not a Pacquaio fight it should do somewhere around 1.5 million buys.
-
Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
If this is true Floyd is gonna p**s off alot of people, no 1 can defend him if he does this.
-
Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
I`ve been A big fan of PBF,but if he does not take this fight with Shane then I`am done with him!

I think you're underestimating some of his fans ;D
I would still be surprised if it doesn't come off.

Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
As I've said before, the fight with Mosley is a high risk low reward fight. If Floyd were to lose he could lose up to 40 million for a fight with Pacquiao. Plus if he were to win most critics will say he beats an inactive old man in Shane. Damn if he does, damn if he doesn't. Might as well sit out and wait for Pac. Boxing after all is a business.
-
Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
I'm a Floyd fan and I do understand that from a financial sense. If he fights and loses to Shane, no Pac fight. If he fights and loses to Pac, he can still fight Shane. That being said, I'd still be pissed if he didn't take the risk and fight Mosley.
-
Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
Who's gonna give in on a Floyd-Manny fight? Doesn't make sense to wait for a Manny fight unless Floyd has decided that he'll give in on the testing cause I don't see anything that would make me think Manny will.
-
Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
I like Floyd but how can you excuse him, if he doesnt take the fight
If he is as good as he makes out and the best he has to prove it some time against the top fighters in the division and one of them is Shane Mosley.

Floyd is the top p4p boxer in the world and he needs to start acting like it and taking challenges. A fight with a Shane is not a high risk low reward fight; it's a high risk high reward fight. Beating Shane makes a big statement. In addition, it is the biggest money fight out there other than Pacquiao for Floyd. It is the only fight out there for Floyd.

Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
It's a shame his heart has never matched his talent. He will never be remembered in the same breath as the Sugar Ray's of this world even if his talent is on equal par. He doesnt have the balls to truly define him as an all-time PFP great. Thinking about it, for me, at the time, Diego Corrales was probably on paper the toughest fight he accepted. Diego was in the top 3 PFP at the time. Oscar was obviously a huge fight, and props to Floyd for taking that one, but that was a personal issue that had been ongoing for years. In fact, ever since Floyd Snr went on record stating that Oscar was the best fighter he had ever trained, Floyd Jnr set his target on De La Hoya to prove his dad wrong. And it was in Oscar's twilight years.
It seems he has the balls when the mood takes him. The flipside though is the avoidance of Shane and how Floyd quite conveniently by-passed the unbeaten Cotto at 140lbs before moving on.

Mr Bulldog.. I complete agree with Rant here. Mosley has only been beaten by Cotto since moving back down to welter a couple years ago. And ALL his losses are arguably to future hall of famers. This will be the biggest test of Floyds career by about 4x since travelling north of 135lbs.
I think Mosley should rematch Margarito in the meantime and detach his brain from his skull. Why not? They could make it a cage match!!! He could basically send him into retirement like Vargas.

"I fight for cheques not legacy"
"Kids can't eat legacy. Cheques is more important. I'm already a legend in the sport. I'm already an icon in the sport. I fight for me first. When my career is done, I can't go to my fans and say, 'I need you to pay my light bills. I need you to put my kids in college.' I have responsibility to take care of my family in the long run. What's most important now is the cheques, 'cause I'm in the cheque cashing business."

Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
Floyd needs to fight Mosley, if he doesn't then I am going to file him into the all time wasted talents category. The is no reason for Mayweather to not fight Mosley. I hope this is rumor.

I'll wait for better confirmation before I say "I told you so". ;D

Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
I don't know why people are always in such a rush to blast a fighter during negotiations. Nothing is final yet. Then again I guess if we couldn't blast a fighter on questionable grounds this forum would be made up of the prediction contest and Missy's internet dating.

Exactly, this is the same Michael Marley who said the Pacquiao-Cotto fight was definitely off because Cotto wouldn't come down to 143lbs.
He's an attention whore & is constantly coming up with crap to keep himself in the boxing message boards.
If this was Rick Reeno or Dan Rafael, I'd be inclined to believe it, but with Marley he talks so much shit it's unbelievable. Him saying this almost leads me to believe the fight is signed.
* If Mayweather actually does this, fuck him

Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
If this is infact true, it will confirm alot of suspicions about floyd. I for one hope it isn't. I'm looking forward to seeing these two fight. This guy (Michael Marley) is also saying that Arum is going to fill up Manny's calendar for 2010 so Manny/Mayweather won't come off until 2011. Floyd has got to fight someone if this is true. In my opinion, Sugar shane is the only logical choice. Why don't you make 10 mil fighting Shane AND 40 mil fight pac-man?

Marley said this? If thats the case I believe the fight will get done in due time.

Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
Okay, I'm not going to bash Floyd because we don't know if its true or not yet. But if it is...Floyd is then not a fighter in business but a businessman who happens to be good at fighting. So lets take the business angle since he chooses that side of boxing. Floyd deserves the small portion of the Pac fight. Pac is at least taking on a formidable welterweight and if he should win it should count for something. Something like 60% of the purse because Pac actually risked his stature like fighters do and Floyd just sat and waited. Pac is building his side and Floyd isn't. So Floyd would be lessening his value while Pac is raising his. 60/40 Pac's way. Non negotiable. Floyd could be building his value by beating Mosley. If Pac and Floyd both win then their fight would be worth significantly more as they would be labeled the top 2 welterweights along with everything else. But forget that I wrote all this until we find out whats true and whats not. :-X

I thought that - I'm sitting back anxiously to see if this fight goes ahead. I hope it's as Jaz says and Marley is being an attention whore again..

Ya, who cares about being a peoples champ? Screw the fans that want to see the fight, the ones that allow you to make a living in the first place. screw all of them, boxing is a business........

Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
Mosley has now been inactive for over a year, not good for a 38 year old! Floyd is a joke, he won't fight Pacman, he balks at Mosley, he won't touch Williams, just who does he want to fight? People on this forum were at times cruel with their criticism of DLH, at least he fought everyone out there! Boxing is losing big time with this BS.

you know that there still is no official word of this being true right? and you know that the one who walked away from the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight was Manny, right?
i mean i'm just checking, cause if you buy into half the crap that Zbolt (Xadu) and his horde have been posting (without any real sources either), then it's really sad :-X

Re: Man I Hope This Isn't True - "Floyd Balks at Mosley Fight"
I think the reason why these rumors has been coming out is because of the delay in the signing for the fight. Mosley is desperate to have this fight that he may accept whatever terms Mayweather will put in front of him as long as they're not ridiculously insulting. They are both under GBP so the negotiations should run smoothly. And Floyd, being noted for his grandstanding, would have immediately grabbed the opportunity to take the limelight away from Pacquiao by making the fight happen. What then is holding it up?
Like what i said in the other thread, I also sense that Mayweather is going to sit out this fight (and no, I'm not a psychic nor a Jedi). If Manny loses, then he would attain the P4P title without even fighting. If Manny wins, then he should accept the fight as per Manny's terms (blood draw 24 days before the fight). This is a win-win situation for him.
If Floyd does decide to fight Mosley then I'll give him credit for that. But until then, let the rumors continue.....

That caught my eye as well. He made 15 for fighting Marquez. Mosley should bring him 20 to 25 million.

And I'm sure many times it can be 100% false. I think the point is that we should not act like a thing is true when it hasn't been confirmed. So, everyone just remain calm.

Actions speak louder than words, so we will see, but Floyd will be trying to worm out of the fight with Shane, he must be gutted that Shane's fight was cancelled, as he has no excuses not to fight Shane.

the fans, the boxing community is pressuring floyd and i think it will continue unless floyd faces a tough opponent.
first the fight of the century, the pacquiao-floyd fight was demanded by fans to be made but floyd was insisting on new rules on drug testing that became the root cause of the fight falling apart.
now the fans/boxing community is pushing floyd to fight mosley. floyd stucked and pinned in the corner and if he still finds ways to duck this fight then he'll be criticize further
