Why the fuck is the Kessler Froch fight in Herning?

Are these promoters/organisers for real?

I was seriously thinking about going to this just after my brithday and me my old man and his mate were planning on going, but that has been fucked right up by the joke of a venue.

Did a bit of research today when it was confirmed in Herning, there are flights to the nearest airport Billund which are very rare, now once you get to Billund it is around 70km to Herning from the airport, there are only two buses a day that go to Herning yes thats rite fucking two!!! Now if your lucky enough for your flight to coincide with the bus timetable it will then take you over 2 hours to get there, there is no rail link to this place but they decide to have this fight in this obscure place in Denmark why I havent got a fucking clue.


Why not Copenhagen? What a ball ache really fancied this. Wonder how many fans will fuck this off now? Just think if you were to get the bus how the fuck would you get on it?? Just imagine say 5 thousand fans go over even two thousand now there is about 2 flights a day going to Billund so this bus that runs twice which what will hold 100 people tops would you say? How the hell are these fans getting to the venue, the bus will be full to the rafters? I heard a taxi would cost you in excess of 300 quid FUCK THAT!!!

Does seem strange to have it in such a remote place! Would a toen that difficult to get to have a decent stadium?

Bizzare mate, I know Froch aint happy and he is protesting it, I think this will effect the fans going over bigtime, Denmark is one of the most expensive countries in the world, cant see fans forking out for taxi's or renting cars aswell as the cost of hotels flights and general spending money.


Maybe it's a ploy from Kesslers people to minimise as many Brits as possible going? or maybe i'm being a bit harsh. But very strange indeed.

HAHA Billund is known for being the home of LEGO. Its population is only 6033, but apparently the airpot i the second busiest in Denmark. It all seems strange.

Froch is an undefeated Champion, Kessler has no strap and has lost twice...

So of course the fight should be on Kessler's home turf in a remote location hard for Froch fans to reach... :rolleyes:

Yep, they don't want any Brits there. They'd hold it in the Faroe Islands if they had an arena there. Or is it Greenland they own? Anyway, you get the idea.

If you're serious about going Skel perhaps look into going on a ferry? Can't remember where we caught it or where we disembarked but that's how we got to Denmark/Lego Land as kids...

My old man is a bit of a tight arse and nearly had heart attack at the prices over there. We're talking very early 90's when we went and my Dad reckons it was £3 a pint then. :o

He bought us all Fish and Chips from the local chippy because eating out was too dear and that cost him £28 for a family of four! 20 years ago!! :mad:

I thought Froch won his argument for the fight to take place in Copenhagen?

Does Froch even need to fight in this tournament? I figured they'd just hand him the trophy like they handed him that decision he got against Dirrel after getting his ass kicked. About the only time Froch got anything in on Dirrel was when he was fighting dirty, i.e....cheating. Dirrel whooped his ass and made him look stupid...Home town decision...Damn Shame.

Why would they care if there were some British fans there? The support would still be overwhelmingly in favor of Kessler and British money is just as good as Danish money.

I no what your saying mate I'm not a Froch fan but I think you will get quite a few boxing fans there some Hatton fans and others who are not quite Froch die hards who would be willing to go to this fight, looks a genuine 50/50.

On another note just picking up on what Adam has said, it's quite insane really. If this was a fight being made outside of the Super Six, Kessler and his team would be laughed out of the negotiations to hold all the cards the way they are now!!

Froch is the unbeaton fighter with the WBC strap Kessler is the fighter who just got a little exposed in his last fight and brings no title to the table.

Hats off to Froch id say 90% of fighters would tell Kessler and his team to fuck off when deciding where this fight takes place.

Kessler has always had a bigger billing than he deserves.

Agree completely

i said all along the outcome of this fight would play largely on where in took place. Middle of denmark with a hostile crowd is a totally different ball game to a sold out MEN/Nottingham arena.

One thing you can say about froch is that to date he hasnt ducked a single challenge in his career and is prepared to achieve the ultimate goals in this sport the hard way. Still think that home advantage plus the fact froch wont be allowed to nut kessler out of the fight ala:andre ward will lead to a kessler win

I'm late to the party on this one, but it seems to go ahead in Herning, so I might as well chip in still.

I don't really get why they put it there either, and no, Herning is not a particularly interesting city to visit (to put it mildly). To be honest, I've used pretty much the same condescending language to describe the place on a number of occasions (often related to their football team which I really don't like).

Still, for a Dane it does seem a bit strange to read all the stuff about Herning being such a remote place that is almost impossible to reach for Brits. That is simply not true - or at least it is not more remote in the sense of difficult to reach than Cardiff or indeed Nottingham would be for Danes. In both of those instances I (to use myself as an example) would have to shell out for public transportation after landing in a British airport, and if I were to lower the budget for the flights, I'd probably be landing in airports 70km or more away from those places too.

Anyway, there is fours airports in Jutland that flies to England. All of these are within 100km of Herning, and all of them have bus- or train connections to there. I have no clue whether it is correct that there are only two straight buses from Billund to Herning every day (I assume so, as this is what is reported), but a quick look-up in 'Travel Planner' suggest that more options are available.

Anyway, I would be glad to help if anyone has questions about how to get to Herning easy and cheap. Just let me know, and I will try to look up options (I am not known in the area, so pubs, hotels etc - I have no clue there. I do know my way around Copenhagen and Århus though, and those places are well worth visits too).

Totally true and I give him credit for it. I am loath to admit it, but if he beats Kessler he may be the #1 smw in the world. Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, and Kessler? That's quite a cv. Reason enough for Calzaghe to step out of retirement and fight him.
