Sky Sports | Boxing | News | Hopkins & Jones confirm rematch

Better late than never.
They are two of my boxing heroes and I'll watch it.
I know I shouldn't want to see this, but I do. Solely in the hope that Jones can somehow rewind a year or two and outwork Hopkins. It would be the funniest thing if Jones was able to do that.
Im a big RJJ fan but im sorry, im not gonna be wearing RJJ rose tinted glasses here. I tried to convince myself maybe RJJ still had something left, but he really doesn't. And i think this is really a sad fight, and shame on B-HOP for taking it really.
I never understood why people wanted the rematch in the first place. Have you guys seen the first fight? Its one of the worst Championship stinkers of all time! You couldn't pay me to watch the first fight again.
Very much looking forward to this one! I'll take Hopkins by UD.
Sometimes its not always about excitement, although obviously no one wants to watch a stinker. RJJ + B-Hop were two of the best fighters, at there weightclasses, B-Hop had improved greatly since there first meeting. Plus B-Hop was a legit threat to RJJ. Because people wanted to see RJJ challenged.
waste of time, why not just pass round a hat for a collection?
Its a sham of a fight and we don't need to see a totally shot to bits RJJ get a bashing off an old Hopkins, just so he can say he stopped him quicker than Joe C did. I will watch it like you do hoping for some sort of miracle to happen and see a competitive fight.
I'll watch the fight because I love watching boxing but I will not pay for this one even if it was 20 bucks. RJJ is a sad case and I just want him to retire. This is only distorting how special RJJ once was.
I will watch they are old legends.
I will watch it, but I'm not paying for it. If this fight was done 7 or 8 years back it would be worth every penny, but now?
What an insult to boxing and it's fans. No way i watch this horse piss. Shit by this crappy logic jermain taylor should be fighting butte on the undercard. Ko losses only advance things right ??!! Shame on them for forcing this crap down our throats. So the winner of this goes where ?? Probably a omar shieka rematch for jones or a challenge of jeff lacy for hopkins........and people hate floyd.
What a pointless fight to be made. Nothing to be made in terms of legacy for either fighter. I guess this was always going to happen regardless of the Jones-Green outcome.
I'm one that thought Hopkins could pull a win in rematch with Jones.....when it meant something and Jones still had something in the tank.Hopkins is preserved and can still compete at a top level...Jones is shot to pieces, has been for a while I believe and I think he'll end up on the end on some serious right hands here....getting stopped ugly.Hopkins will jump around and think its a massive achievement but in reality all it does is give him a "W" over a man who beat him and sooth his ego (hey I love Hopkins but come on).Thats it.This is a money grab on name status...a lining of the wallet for two great fighters on their way out.Bit of a charity auction of sorts.
Just a kwik question guys, who do you think will enter the ring first?
Despite jones' loss to green I still think it's an interesting fight. Remember Jones gave lacey an absolute drumming.
I think hopkins will win it.
The danger is the hopkins will win in a landslide vistory. Everyone knows what to expect from Bhop, but what's jones going to bring? Anything?
I'll say this: RJJ was the guy that Hopkins was never, ever going to beat. IMO it would just not happen. Jones just had the "know how", fight smarts and of course physical gifts that would just not allow Hopkins to get anything going. Prime RJJ is a bad matchup for prime Bhop. Well, prime RJJ is a bad match for just about any fighter 160-175 in history.
Great post here and I agree 100%.
I really am praying for one more day in the sunshine for RJJ come April 3rd but I don't see it. But to look back they have fought before and both were closer to their primes than they are today (Jones a lot closer) and Jones all but schooled Hopkins with one hand.
Now if Hopkins thinks that getting revenge over this shell of a once great man will add to his legacy then he is more deluded than I thought.
I see this being a landslide victory for B-Hop though, last time Jones was KO'd he took a few fights to start letting his hands go again and it'lll probably happen again now. Why oh why didn't he retire after Ruiz? IMO he would be universally recognized as p4p top 3 all time now if he had retired then on top having just won a HW strap!
