Tonight's FNF 2/19/10

Wolstein Center Cleveland, OH.

Light Middleweight prospect meets walkover opponent, as Shawn Porter 12-0 (10 KOs) faces Russell Jordan 15-6 (10 KOs)
Porter should have a pretty easy time in there. Jordan has some pretty good names on his resume all listed as KO losses, Luis Collazo, Allen Conyers, James Kirkland, Sergio Martinez and Oscar Diaz have all had the privilege of stopping Jordan. Porter is known for being Manny Pacquiao's sparring partner and has decent hand talent and after tonight I expect a highlight reel KO.

Of note Gary Russell Jr. 7-0 (4 KOs) MAY be televised on the undercard, he was the member of the 2008 US Olympic team that lost consciousness when he tried to drain himself to make weight. He subsequently missed the weigh in and was unable to compete.

I thought Aaron Williams was supposed to be on this card too, that dampers my enthusiasm a bit, I'm still on the train. This should be a good little card and the main event should be interesting. Jordan is a tall lanky southpaw with really long punches that give you ample opportunity to counter and Porter is a short choppy puncher. Jordan is brave and will at least try to fight you which is why he has all those KO losses.

Porter is a very good talent as is Russel Jr. who I've only seen once or twice as a pro.

I'm just hoping this is one of those cards that looks crappy on paper but turns out ok.

Hopefully there's a decent undercard fight beside Russell Jr.

That first fight was badass, I've been following Lane for a while and it was a great fight for an opener. Tucker was a badass, you could tell from the first round on that he had something demonic in him and he got beat the hell out of, could have gone down about 3 or 4 times in the first 4 rounds alone annd didn't. He also hurt Lane at least once, good fight for both guys.

Yeah Lane is 27 and a firefighter, so he obviously has some maturity because honestly, he walked into a firestorm against a guy who simply had no quit in him and who was also almost as athletically talented. He stayed calm though, combated Tucker's raw energy and combination punching with precise shots, mixed up his punches, always found the opening and succeeded in making a mess of Tucker's face by the time it was done. I love those types of fights.

Porter is bouncing around all over the place and just got stunned by a right hand for that reason.

Who was it who said Porter was already better then Cotto? Yikes.

I'm just not impressed here, well as the fight moves along he is fighting better, especially in attacking the body, but the height seems to be giving him lots of problems as far as getting his offense going. Maybe it's the TV but I think he needs to relax, he's going to get himself hurt.

Porter is struggling with the reach disadvantage and southpaw. Is trying the tricks, stepping on his lead foot, slipping keeping his head outside the right etc but Jordon working him well.

Porter doesn't look all that good to me, he's winning handily enough but seems a bit too sloppy for my liking.

Awful point deduction, the mouthpiece came out accidentally.

He looked better down the stretch actually, I thought Jordan gave a fair account of himself early on too.

And Burger King is so much better than McDonalds. There is just no contest in terms of the burgers.

If Jordon landed 1/2 those missed hooks he mighta had a shot. Porter controlled well enough coming down the stretch but looked anything but impressive.

Yes. McDonald's is disgusting. Except for maybe the sausage biscuits in the morning but there disgusting too, but kind of in a good way.

I didn't even watch it. Travelling and I stay at this nice hotel, real nice for 65 bucks, and they have like 8 HBO's but no ESPN2, wtf? And I couldn't find a stream. And Ice Dancing is a fucking abomination.

Sorry guys computer froze on me. That first fight was awesome, Tucker is the kind of guy if he had the people around him to be picky about his opponents he could be considered a prospect, hell of an effort from him. Lane handled a great challenge very well.

Porter reminds me of Rey Bautista, in a big way vulnerable to the cross, the overkill bouncing, the potential to get flattened by someone with power.

The Porter / Cotto comparisons are ridiculous, I think Porter is faster, but nowhere near the power or timing of Cotto.

Braveheart is on. Braveheart is awesome. But its not made for cable after you've seen it three or four times. There's no way I can sit through the parts I don't care about with no fast forward and commercials.

Porter looked like he got hit pretty good with a right hook early on. And couple of straight lefts stopped his attack. All in all, it looked waaaaay more difficult for him than I expected. Jordan was in the fight for the first four rounds he just looked lethargic after that. I expected Jordan to have a more killer instinct seeing as how it was Porter's home town and all.

The only good thing about McD's is the 24 hour delivery. Great for after a session on the beer and great if you wake up and can't be bothered to cook. It will rot your heart and kill you though, so I have cut down. Once a month now.
